1 day done
How many left?
Just poured myself a nice Perrier with lemon after reorganizing the basement.
Crisp, refreshing, and easy on the belly.
I may have taken it a tad too far w/ no dip. I'll start no dip after I run out
I’m in, starting today.
Anyone here have difficulty getting to sleep?
I'll take benadryl or Zzzquil occasionally. Curious what other options are out there.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit shooting heroin.gif
toooooo beeeeeee faaaiiiirrrrrrrr is there ever a good week?
January starts tomorrow.
People don’t know January starts and stops every weekend.
have a five day old so i’m five days sober after a decade as an alcoholic in denial
never had to drink in the morning to get by or anything like that- just a couple of drinks in the evening/going hard on the weekends. a week hiatus here and there but that’s largely been the routine for ten years. scary territory. not sure i’ve got the chops to be a casual drinker
good luck fellas
Congrats but wouldn’t call that scary territory
i guess it’s relative. for me, the damage done to my body from drinking daily for a decade and the difficulty abstaining for meaningful amounts of time got me shook i guess.
2020 kinda exacerbated a lot of this too i think
I worry about you.
You’re telling on yourself. He’s talking medical alcoholic definition and you’re talking ruining your life definition. Both can be true.
this aged poorly
i was able to hold the drinking at bay when i was in a position to partake with regularity
This pandemic has done a number on my booze intake, so taking most of the month off as a reset and try out weed as an alternative.
I’m in. Trying to go until the super bowl.
I went about half way through February last year. Think I’ll try for that again or to March.
As some of my posting may indicate - I've lost all 3 days of January already, so I guess I'm out.
In fairness - I feel like bowl games and NYE after midnight shouldn't count.
Congrats on making the adjustment - sincerely, it's sure as hell not easy.
Starting tomorrow, going three days into Feb.
One day at a time
Where’s that Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man image?
Edit: day 2 down...slept great
Boxed it up and put it the attic
time to heal
I’d be glad to take that Stagg jr off your hands. Wouldn’t want you to be tempted
Apparently I lasted one day longer than last year. But, I only had two drinks with dinner. So I feel that shouldn’t count.
Still going strong. Think if I make it through next weekend the guilt of breaking the streak will set in like last year.
Hoping it'll be smooth sailing after today.
six days no booze. feeling like a million bucks
we’ve got a meal train thingy going and someone just left a sixer of my favorite ipa on the porch. damnit
not to derail but last christmas i got a lot of alcohol related gifts from family. that was kind of a gut punch and probably the episode that sticks out most in this. like fuck- i’ve got hella hobbies but that’s what comes to mind when you’re buying for me. never felt so embarrassed in my life.
lol I’ve been there. I liked the gifts tho.
So I’m at a wedding. I suppose a glass or two is acceptable right
used them to cope with getting them lol
That’s what we in the biz call
come on in the water’s fine
probably gonna get the rona so might as well drink
About to be my 36th dry January.
Been dry since October. Took a few months off in 2018 to drop some lbs and really enjoyed how I felt. Gained some back during quarantine so I stopped again and once again I love how I feel. Don’t really have a period in mind, I’ll start back eventually.
Re: sleeping -- just remember it won't happen as fast if you're not buzzed. I'll lay there 5 minutes and be ticked I'm not asleep yet, but if I just wait 15 minutes more I get there. Whereas I'm out as soon as I hit the pillow with a buzz on
I'm in. Will go a few days into February since I started late.
The 6 weeks I took off last year felt so good. Good on everyone participating.
For me, alcohol wrecks my sleep and that, in turn, wrecks my day and then my week and then my mental health and then...
The pandemic brought on a pretty bad cycle. I’d have a few drinks in the afternoon/evening, be asleep by 10pm, and awake at 4am from my body metabolizing the alcohol. Half the time I’d get back to sleep. It was novel and fun at first, but eventually turned into a ‘problem’.
