Dutch competition started yesterday. Defending champion FC Twente already spilled points with a scoreless draw against Roda JC. will edit in more stuff Historic winners: Ajax: 29 PSV: 21 Feijenoord: 14 Last 25 years: PSV: 14 Ajax: 7 Feijenoord: 2 AZ: 1 FC Twente: 1 The stats of the last 25 years pretty much indicate what to expect from the competition. PSV and Ajax have just dominated the last 25 years. However the last two runs show that the competition has grown closer together as the money gap has tightened (with Ajax still having the largest budget by a margin but AZ and FC Twente have a budget not all that far removed from PSV). However this years run is still expected to be fought out between PSV and Ajax with Feijenoord, AZ and defending champions FC Twente the outsiders.
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer Don't know a lot about the league care to break things down?
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer gonna go get drunk in a few minutes, will edit a preview in on monday prolly
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer will follow this topic
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer Usually always a big club like PSV or Ajax wins the league with the likes of Feyenoord and Twente pushing for the title. The rest of the league is pretty shitty.
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer Yeah so like most leagues then.
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer this, and excellent tags
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer Last year was Twente's first ever Eredivisie title. Going off of Wiki, Ajax, PSV, and Feyenoord have won all but 6 of the Eredivisie titles since 1957, with two of those coming in the past two seasons with Twente and AZ Alkmaar.
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer psv off to a winning start in a tough road game against heerenveen :) ajax will play another tough road game against groningen this afternoon
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFC_Ajax under the decal on the right, nickname(s) rofl
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer edited in the first blimp, team by team previews will be edited in somewhere in this week as well as their primary strengths/weaknesses
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer knew almost exactly what it was going to be, and still laughed hysterically
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer do not understand
Re: ******** Official Dutch Eredivisie Thread******** The Early Birds of EuroSoccer fair enough, was actually considering the feijenoord thing but I thought you were prolly talking about a spelling mistake in the titel or op or something
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Where Toivonen shows swag and Ajax scores/concedes A LOT will this thread during the early stages of KNVB Cup.
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Where Toivonen shows swag and Ajax scores/concedes A LOT the early stages where ajax always draw dodgy amateur clubs that they subsequently buttrape to a criminal level?
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Where Toivonen shows swag and Ajax scores/concedes A LOT second gameday and no need to change the title at all
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Where goals are commonplace and PSV leads :) three days in and psv is the only team with a perfect record. Ajax has been most impressive up front thusfar but is still looking very shaky in defense. bit early but thusfar it looks like a pure 3 horse race with PSV, Ajax and FC Twente with the early impressions suggesting that order.
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Where goals are commonplace and PSV leads :) Standings after week 5 1 PSV 5 13 2 AJAX 5 13 3 TWENTE 5 11 4 GRONINGEN 5 11 5 RODA JC 5 10 6 EXCELSIOR 5 10 7 HEERENVEEN 5 8 8 FEYENOORD 5 7 9 NEC 5 7 10 NAC 5 6 11 UTRECHT 5 6 12 ADO DH 5 5 13 HERACLES 5 4 14 GRAAFSCHAP 5 4 15 AZ 5 3 16 VVV 5 3 17 VITESSE 5 3 18 WILLEM II 5 0 PSV and Ajax look to be in a class of their own thusfar but with tough road challenges for both (Ajax @Feyenoord, THE dutch classic PSV @Roda, a team that usually has their number).
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Tight at the top, Feijenoord broke 1 PSV 9-21 2 Ajax 9-20 3 Twente 9-19 4 Roda JC 9-18 5 Groningen 9-18 Pretty tight at the top.
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Tight at the top, Feijenoord broke I think the dutch win the annual contest of the first fired Head Coach/Manager/Trainer. Vitesse just fired their HC. I might be mistaking though
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Tight at the top, Feijenoord broke Just looked at the standings and couldn't believe where I saw Feyenoord.
Re: ***Dutch Eredivisie*** Tight at the top, Feijenoord broke The average age of their squad is 23 and that is with a guy of 41 and a guy of 37 both of whom are bench personell. There were games this year where the median are of the guys on the field was 20
1 vs 2 tonight (local time) as leaders PSV Eindhoven host reigning champion and #2 FC Twente. PSV is a pretty big favourite with the bookies but I think its going to be a close game
What can you tell me about this muddafucka http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=840080&sec=transfers&cc=5901&cc=5901
Well, first of all i love the kid to death, he is the best player for psv and has been for a while. Great 10, cm or even out wide, spain would be the best destination for him as he is a bit injury prone and his style of play gets protected best in spain. Can be a gamechanger by himself but is also very capable of playing in a high paced short passing offense. Ideal fits would include valencia, arsenal and fiorentina but barca would be a good fit. Weakest point is probably that he is not a natural finisher and he gets bloodrushes every now and than
messi, xavi and iniesta hug the play to much between them. On top of that with arsenal he can play in the middle, with barca he will probably be kicked wide left, where he can play just fine but its not his natural position. Will be good for the dutch national team though.
With Twente losing and Ajax and PSV having a goalless draw with should also result in a long suspension for Suarez the winner of this weekend is already PSV. PSV is at the top with Twente 3 points back, Ajax 6 points back and Groningen with the possibility to come within 4 with a win tomorrow at home to Feijenoord.
Bump for the epic final day tomorrow. Twente @ Ajax - Twente is in 1st by 1 point, and had the great comeback against Ajax last week in the Dutch Cup final. PSV @ Groningen - PSV is 2 points behind Ajax for the 2nd and last CL spot, Groningen is in 5th.
situation is pretty easy though If Twente wins or ties they are champions again If Ajax wins they will be champs no matter what happens if PSV wins they will be second, if they dont win whoever loses the Twente-Ajax matchup will be second. Second is a pretty big deal as we have 2 CL spots
Really impressed by Vertonghen in today's game. It was the first Ajax game I've seen this year, but I can see why he's getting a lot of hype about moving to a big club.
