Despite it being 2016, I still don't have one. Finally realized my preference for "holding an actual book" is stupid and I need to get with the times. Thoughts/suggestions are appreciated.
I'm team actual book (for now). I have an e-reader, just never really use it. I'm sure that will transition with time. Traditional publishing is taking a nose dive. But I like to collect books, so I always buy a hard copy anyways.
It took me a while to get use to and embrace an e-reader. Just makes life so much easier. Im not really a big collector (although my e-book collection is growing nicely) so I really have no need for a physical books.
Yeah Kindle Paperwhite is the correct answer, although I really want an Oasis. Basically just because they exist. Also I collect books, but I prefer them in pristine condition so I don't read them. E-book all the way.
I have the hard backs which I don't open, and all the others which are the copies I've actually read. I like both. Only really sink money into the hard backs
Yeah I buy the hardbacks I want to collect, but then still download the ebook and actually read that one.
Oh no doubt. The paperbacks outnumber the hard backs for sure. I still enjoy collecting them though. I'll transition. Just ever so slowly.
Have been using a Kindle Paperwhite which has been amazing, but today I ordered a Kindle Oasis. I've read a lot of reviews that say that for people who read their kindle every single day, the Kindle Oasis is worth the money. I definitely read mine every single day. Did the interest free 5 monthly payments of $58. I feel a little absurd about spending that much on an e-reader but I'm also fucking pumped for it to arrive. Should be here July 13th.
My Oasis shipped early. Should be here tomorrow but of course I'm going out of town tomorrow through Sunday. FUCK
So shortly after posting about my tablet, I notice that the chair I put my messenger bag on is soaking wet. My water bottle somehow opened inside the bag, and OF COURSE my tablet won't turn on.
I looked it up and don't really see what the fuss is about? Explain like I'm five. I still use an original 3G kindle. That sweet sweet anywhere download.
It's got a charging leather cover so the battery life last months, it's really small and light and the backlight is great. Other than that no better than the paper white. I like mine but probably not worth the $250 or whatever it costs
Gonna be buying an e reader today and from everything I've looked at on here (and some reviews online) it looks like the paperwhite is still the way to go? I'm not really interested in paying the oasis price
Any updates here? I need to refresh my paper white. Is there a benefit to upgrading to the Oasis or Scribe? If scribe was good at notetaking I feel like it would be great for work, but the top reviews on Amazon make it seem extremely limited.
Is your paperwhite crapping out on you or just want something new? I think my paper white is 8 years old and still going strong. No issues. But now I feel like I may be missing out on something.
I've been anti e-reader but I think it's time I reconsider. I'm getting back to reading more like I did pre-kids and my 7 year old loves reading. For those with a kindle...I know you can read books from the library via Libby... but what about audiobooks via libby? My son really enjoys listening to audiobooks when we go on road trips
you can check out audio books and play them on your phone idk about playing them on your e reader that has that capability. I usually will check out both so I can listen when I walk my dog and read at home. It is also cool and helps me more to listen and read at the same time.
I have an Oasis and bought it for my wife for Christmas because she finally was willing to make the jump. I personally liked the Oasis primarily because it has the buttons and was waterproof (resistant?). I just like the tactile response of the buttons versus a touchscreen...idk why. Do we have a TMB e-book depository that I can download from? It would be nice to load her up with things to read right from the jump.
