The lack of a 2-4-5 defense in this game, considering it's like the primary defensive formation of this generation, is probably the 1 glaring spot left to fix with playbooks. Love all the variety they threw in on offense but it'd be great if they spread a little love to D playbooks too
I also can never complete a “lob” pass. The rate chance my WR gets separation at the line the pass is always under thrown and incomplete or picked.
Example of #1 I just saw when playing over lunch. QB forced to roll out of pocket, I have two DL closing in so I want to switch to them..instead it switches me to a random DB (I’m using B not switch stick) so I’m holding down to get to the QB and my DB leaves his man open. Instead of a sack he hits the wide open guy. Happens a ton. I’m sure I should just let the AI DL chase them but I don’t trust the AI not to do something totally dumb.
there is a 2-4-5 though you just use the 4-2-5 or Nickel and package adjust to rush ends who you can set as OLBs
Are there any formations with two stand-up ends, though? I know some of the nickels have one of them standing, but I don't recall stumbling across any with both.
that's a good point. the 3-3-5 is has 1 stand up. not sure if you can package adjust to both stand up. I'll check later when I play. even though I make tons of adjustments to formations for offense, I never adjust my defense so I'm not sure what is all available on this front
Multiple defense is the only playbook that works for me. I hate the 3-3-5 and 4-2-5 in certain situations.
Yeah, to recreate Michigan's actual defense, I basically went with a custom playbook of 3-4 looks, putting our edges at OLB and DTs across the full DL, and then a mix of nickel formations where at least one of the ends is standing. It's pretty limited, though, especially with the 3-3-5 formations not really following our actual personnel very closely.
If you're a sicko like me, you start a new dynasty and force results for all of the games based on what happened in real life while assembling a recruiting class that mimics your school's actual one and then rename all the players and adjust their heights and weights to match.
Every time I try to throw deep in this game it’s picked off. Only success I have is short crossing routes with YAC. I don’t even play in hard difficulty. WTF.
What passing system are you using? Classic, revamped, placement & accuracy? I average about 12 ypa 500 games played and have a 7 to 1 TD to INT ratio Placement and accuracy with the medium window and 7 reticle speed
I'm beginning to think I can only use elusive backs, preferably with shifty activated. I have a baller ass power back but he just does not get the job when I'm running with him. Just a lot of 2 yard runs before he gets taken down. Is it that I just should not be running any zone runs with a power back?
I prefer inside zone and HB base with a Power Back while I run more stretch or outside zone with an elusive back
Even my inside zone runs with him get me nothing. When my backup elusive back gets in though, he's running pretty well.
Interesting. I love using both but I definitely call different plays and run in a different style/tendency with them. I love the Power Back, especially if they have 93 to 95 speed
Yea, mine has 94 speed. His acceleration and change of direction aren't stellar though. Maybe I just need to be calling some dives up the A gap for him. I haven't really played with that yet. May run it in free practice and see.
Having receivers that have press beat traits and 97+ speed and a 92+ throw power QB are musts for consistent deep game. Even then, I rarely throw deep if the defense drops two safeties and always have a drag route to check down to. It’s just the game. I’m 20+ years into my dynasty and have only had one receiver that was a complete cheat code.
Definitely experiment. I felt the same way about speed vs power rushers until I learn the right moves and how to set things up with the Power Rusher. Now I love both for different reasons. Same with the RBs
I feel like being patient really helps me running. You let the play développ and hit the hole. When I hit the speed button too soon it usually messes up the play
Yea, I normally don't hit the R2 bumper until I'm in open field. Which is something I never got the opportunity to do with my power back...lol.
Never hit the speed until youre in the clear. Only time to use it behind the LoS is when running a jet sweep and needing to get past that DE before they get up field.
Fired this up for the first time in months with work slow this time of year. Outside of recruiting, what are the best ways to spend coach xp? Is it the same as when it came out or have there been tweaks?
I use mine on Tactician for during season boosts to my players (ground and pound O and D, more passes knocked loose in middle of field). My team has an overall 98, 97 on O, 99 on D. And I upgraded all my Pipelines. So I have like 6 that are level 5 (Ohio, Tidewater, Big Apple, East Texas, Pennsylvania, Central Florida) and another 4 that are level 4 (North Texas, Missouri, Metro Atlanta, Pacific Northwest). This comes in handy for recruiting. I basically get what I want I don't spend points anywhere else
What's going on when I ha ve a guy with like 20+ skill points, and the game hasn't used them yet? They're red shirt freshmen with elite dev. trait and have ton of skill caps left.
What position/archetype? If it’s a LB speed rusher, you’ll need to move them to DE or something to use those points.
maybe to the rusher position when you scroll down on your depht chart. There is a spéciality postion for rushers
Both guys came in as defensive ends, but I run a 3-4 and my OLB's are all pass rushers, so I moved them to OLB.
Then they’re probably OLB speed rusher archetypes. If you look at the rating caps page it should just be blank. If you move them back to DE, it will spend all the points and they’ll upgrade significantly. I would wait until offseason position changes though.
I saw some social post this week that was polling players about what they wanted from the next installation. People talking about more in-stadium experience and broadcast stuff blew my mind.
I want mini games where SEC Frat Pledges show up 2 hours before the game to save seats and you can fight people trying to get in your section. If its in the game it should be in the game.
