Any of yall remember the "jet pack" in Madden in like 2004? It was the Mike Vick year. QB would run back 20 yards and then throw a bullet bomb to a WR. User would click on WR, turn around back toward QB, and jump high to catch the bullet throw. You couldn't defend it. Played a guy last night using A&M that had mastered that. I assume he was using pass lead and would purposefully underthrow every ball, would turn around, jump and catch it. He only did it if I was in man so my DB's were turned and running with the WR. I couldn't click on them quick enough to come back. It forced me to run zone and he just picked me apart. Wasn't even mad, that's just good ass user skills. He kicked my ass. Didn't help that he got a few fluky things on defense but it wouldn't have mattered, I couldn't stop him.
So I just discovered the substitution option (triangle on PS5) when you’re in the formation tab when calling a play. The reason I hadn’t discovered it before is that this option doesn’t show up for me when I’m playing in my online dynasties. I saw another team in my league using it watching their twitch stream and was thoroughly confused. Why isn’t that showing up for me?
My playbook has gotten stale and the league has kinda figured out what I like to do (drag routes, screens, inside zones) I have a freshman qb with elite speed and two stud rbs. Anyone have a run heavy playbook they like?
never used it, but gotta imagine UCF's playbook is heavy run with lots of designed stuff for a mobile QB and PA/deep shots off the run FSU also has a decent playbook for the run, particularly with some pistol formation stuff https://cfb.fan/25/playbooks/florida-state-off/
Every time I try to pitch on the speed option the ball goes 15 yards backwards. Been too lazy to figure out what I’m doing wrong.
There are different types of pitches. I can’t run the speed option anymore. Only time I’ll pitch is if it’s a triple and the playbook I use on UT doesn’t even have one.
I had one in the national semifinal last night that on first and goal teleported the ball backwards to the middle of the 50 yard line The scoring summary called it a 50-yard rushing touchdown for them, no fumble mentioned
Do you guys ever feel like despite your ratings you randomly have a team that stinks? I’ve been at my school forever and I’m throwing out another 92/92/92 but my defense is getting torched every game. I just gave up 35 to middle Tennessee state. And it doesn’t matter what I run on defense
Yes, I absolutely run into this despite having teams regularly rated 95s across Ovr/Off/Def Sometimes my Defense lacks a game wrecker in the middle and I'm soft vs the run. Or Sometimes my edge rushers are young and their power/finesse moves are inconsistent. Or I don't have an elite 5 star scrambler ready and have to roll with a field general and it screws up my preferred style of play But one thing is certain, not all teams play the same despite same ratings and it can take 6 or 8 games to adjust to the right way to use them or making necessary lineup changes to try and find a fit that works for how I want to play
Ive found this normally happens if I pitch it late. The game registers my QB is getting hit and he makes a bad pitch. Pitch it sooner.
I’ve seen this. Might want to try looking at their style of play and figure out a scheme that fits that
One thing I've noticed, because most everyone sets their pitch responsibilities to conservative/aggressive, is that usually guys just beeline for the RB. I've been torching people by keeping with QB more than I would normally. Obviously risks there go from pitch variance to getting your QB hit and dealing with fatigue and fumbling via hit stick. But if you can get down or OOB it's been profitable of late.
That’s how I play my defense because everyone just wants to force it to the back. I can’t even remember the last time someone kept it.
I had been doing the daily bowl game thing to get the free 95 on ultimate team so I hadnt played champs in awhile. Fired it back up the other day and was 10-1 for last week. After starting 6-0 I clearly got put into a higher rung and have only played cheesers since. I thought the game had stamped that shit out, nope they’re just grouped together.
Pitch has been fucked since the get-go imo Triple option instead of speed definitely seems to be more consistent but the whole pitching mechanic is kind of a mess. It's been a couple months since I've played but the game is at least nice enough to occasionally call a fumbled pitch an incomplete pass randomly.
If I need some OLBs is the best place to look DEs or is it worth looking at safeties? Had some roster management issues and have 0 LOLBs and 0 SS but a ton of CBs, DEs, and a few FS.
depends on what you want your LBs to do I run base nickel and prefer one is pass coverage and the other either a power rusher or run stopper. I never convert safeties to LBs but will move 6'4 to 6'6 265+ lb power rusher LBs to DE I move hybrid safeties with 94+ speed to corner and typically stick them in the slot to help in run support but also fast enough to make plays in the pass game
he'd make one helluva pass rusher I'd look closely at his power/finesse moves, acceleration, and then his pass coverage skills (zone and man) if his pass rush moves are low (like mid 70s) but he has coverage skills in the 80s, move him back to SS as a run support safety. but if his pass rush moves are high, I'd look at moving him to DE also keep in mind, DE is all I control so I'm absolutely partial to that move lol
Makes sense. This guy was a LB out of the gates! No clue how he was so fast. I think he’s in year 3 though so had time to develop. I’ll take a look at ratings, I always like having fast LBs but if he’d be better somewhere else my defense is pretty average. I’m trying to force myself to get better at controlling LB/Safety for games against humans but I think I’d be better off sticking with DE most the game lol
I've had a few LBs with mid 90s speed and they are so useful be it on the blitz or out in coverage I actually have a field general right now with 94 speed that was an all american in 2033 and a back up pass coverage LB waiting to replace him with 95 speed
Considering I user a LB 90% of the time, I'd lean speed. That's just me - probably largely depends on what your dynasty league looks like, how much you sim, etc. I generally over-recruit safeties and move them around based on size/speed/ratings.
Have you had any success with safeties moving to LB? This is for my non-TMB dynasty which usually has 2 regular season user matchups, the rest are CPU. No simming or anything. I’ve posted about it before but these guys seem to all just stack a ton of speed on offense with high change of direction and spam whatever easy plays get guys in space. So I’m trying to get as much speed out there as possible to cover WRs and also get to the edge/outside of the field for screens.
Just playing offense as im OC. Once again score to take the lead, this time with 34(!!!) Seconds to play. CPU scores on a three play drive on the final play of the game. So strange how this keeps happening but fan boys are adamant theres no end of game sim bullshit
While I agree, your example (Nebraska blowing a game) is not going to convince anyone that it’s not just EA Sports following their motto of “Its In The Game”!
Brother you just gotta adapt. Use hurry up/run clock and timeouts to manufacture a score under 20 seconds. If I recognize the fix is in from the CPU, I’ll start playing the end of game strat from the start of the 4th quarter to line it up. it is what it is. Just play it. ETA: a know it all comment, so forgive me. Genuinely, having lost several games or gone to OT under similar circumstances over the course of 25+ years in a dynasty, I believe that getting the clock under 20 seconds when you go ahead drastically reduces the odds the computer gives itself to come up with the three play 60 yard score vs 30+ seconds.
In one of my online dynasties I scooped up this 3 star gem power back on a whim. He turned out to be elite dev with like 5 skill caps. He’s a freshman though with like a 64 OVR. First game I’m trying to give him some snaps to develop before I redshirt him, and now…idk man…
Power Backs are my absolute favorite on offense. enjoy it, feed him often, you got 3 years of fun ahead
Yall got me wanting to do an offline dynasty for the first time. May try that soon. Online cfp has gotten kinda boring.
My new starting RB was making me mad because he's slow as hell but he's a 90 overall... Then I had him hit a hole and tired the truck stick. Guy is a fucking bulldozer now and it's fun as hell.
yep, don't try to out run folks, run them over and stiff arm actually works very well with a power back
I totally get that there are ways around it, but you shouldn't have to game plan around a CPU cheese.
Most fun game I've had in a while. Wasn't looking good then... DOINK... than Milroe made the best pass I've ever made on here. 70 yard dot while on the run. Poor guy was in a playoff game for him too. See that a lot more on Heisman than lower levels, I guess not as many players. I was in line week 6 game and he was in 2nd round of playoffs so thats why we were in Sugar Bowl.
We’re in season 13 or so and have loaded rosters and all of us users are just dominating the computer during the regular season. Anything we should do to make the cpu games more challenging? Already on heisman obviously
adjust the speed threshold sliders can make it harder otherwise it’s just very easy to beat the AI with drag routes and jet sweeps using your fastest receivers
How do you guys defend these two plays? I have been killed for years by it on Madden and this game. It's one of the few things that I just can't stop no matter what I do.
I'd try cover 2 and put the short zone drop to like 25 yards. That covers the outside routes. Safety should take post and the LB's take the in route.
