Is “placement” the LT? That’s really the only time I wish I could get the ball in a better spot. I can live with the other stuff.

No, placement is moving the stick in the direction you want to lead the throw

So do you use LB/L1 or LT/L2 at all?

I just feel like I’m missing something because everyone (including CPU) seems capable of hitting at least one big play downfield. Yet it’s a miracle for me to complete anything. Like I said above, even if my WR beats a press and has steps on the DB the pass usually ends up being a perfect pass to the DB instead of WR. Like it will hit the DB for a perfect over the shoulder catch, while my WR is 3-4 steps ahead of him lol

Interesting, I’ll have to mess with it. It seems like I notice it when moving the stick left/right, but if I push up it doesn’t help deep passes for me at all.

On streaks you have to do it to essentially throw the guy open. If you wait too long you'll be limited by throwing power and it'll get picked anyway.

Just like IRL, if the WR is even with the DB in trail then tap the button to loft and push forward on the left stick at the same time

I use LB if I want one of my Physical WRs to go up and get the ball, or if the CB in trail is close enough that they could jump to tip the pass

but I never use free form (LT). try increasing the pass lead to medium. I push the left stick to where I want to lead a WR (away from the defense) and then hit the button corresponding to the WR

but, keep in mind your accuracy rating impacts this ability; so if you are using a shook freshman, you're gonna be erratic trying to throw into tight windows. so build confidence, crossers, quick hitters, get him in a groove before taking deep shots

I think I just need to go into practice/offense only and see what does what. Admittedly, that bores the hell out of me so I don’t do it. Or when I do, I still have the D out there so trying to mess with stuff isn’t as easy.

Just seems like everything I read there’s a different suggestion for the same result which doesn’t make sense to me. But I’m probably just too old/too impatient to really understand it all.

Some people on Reddit have the same complaint that I do, where if you didn’t play Madden there’s so much random shit and EA didn’t provide an explanation for any of it.

Was thinking about changing pass lead. If I don’t touch the stick will pass lead impact it as much? Just curious because I saw a lot of people saying medium made it so every pass was overthrown terribly…which would be better than a pick

this video by Civil really helps in what you should practice to get more comfortable with the passing system and in particular leading a WR

I don't think it really impacts their accuracy if you don't try to lead or throw the WR open

but again, this passing system takes into account accuracy, so some of the complaints might be because their QB has 82 accuracy rating and is shook on the road. my veteran QBs will throw dirt balls or high periodically when I'm at Penn St or in a tight game at Camp Randall

Will check it out. I think what frustrates me is for the most part I am OK at limiting picks on short/medium throws. I’ll have the occasional pre-determined throw that gets picked, or a desperate heave under pressure but when the majority of deep passes are thrown directly to the DB it just makes me want to shut the game off lol especially when you factor in like 85% of the picks get housed which is a whole nother issue.

Go into practice mode and hit random play for both O and D. You can go through like 50 plays in like 30 min

Alright in my non-TMB dynasty, I played a user game tonight and by like 40. More importantly, the one time he pressed me my WR got separation and my pass actually led the receiver.

On top of using the stick to “aim” the pass, I think the other issue was I’d either hold the button down too long, or tap it too quick and the pass would just float in slow motion.

Oh yeah. If you just tap it they lob it, if you hold it down forever it’s an inaccurate rocket. There’s a minigame in FUT that will help you work on it.

I remember reading that but could never find it.

It felt like when I’d just tap it and release as fast as possible it would throw a “lob” but it was like 50 feet in the air and floated at 3mph. So I just stopped, where now that I’m slightly pressing it (bar fills up like 10%) he’s been throwing much more accurate deep passes. Even I completions at least aren't catchable where previously everything was under thrown and picked.

Played a guy just now that ran this play literally 100% of the time. He never threw to the WR on the left. I was covering the TE with my user so he'd hit the drag. I started playing cover 2 to stop that and he'd bomb the WR to the right. Got lucky once and played cover 2 but shaded inside and he tried to throw right seem and my Safety jumped it for an INT. That's the only time I stopped him.

Beat his ass 45-43 on a last second FG though. Got lucky with a kick return TD after he scored with 3 seconds left in the 1h.

On this one, I played cover 2 so he hot routes the drag to turn upfield and he was wode open. Literally 1 play and just made the right reads every time.

Could be, not something I've ever used much. Looking back i probably should have tried man and then user'd the TE across the middle. Idk though drag probably kills that, guess i could have shaded inside and down but even then he's probably cooked bc that guy had like 98 speed.

Flick right stick a direction and the closest WR will go that direction. He could make him turn left if he wanted to. I rarely use it but occasionally I will if I scramble and have a RB sitting in the flat. When the LB comes screaming at me, flick up and the RB will run downfield.

Cant lie, that's damn good stick skills from him. Iser adjusted the RB upfield and then pass led it down so the RB had to slow down before he got near any DB's.DB'S.

Just realized that wasn't cover 2, that was cover 3 shaded down. I probably should have set my safety on the left into man on the slot guy. I knew what he was running, having that saftey drop into the middle of the field was pointless. Should have had him man the slot and trail him if he turned upfield. The slot CB on the rigbt was in a hard flat to stop the full drag.

This shit happens to me all the time. This isn’t match coverage, just standard zone. This happened with like 30 sec left and I lost to the damn CPU. I might have to ban myself from buying CFB26 lol this game fucking sucks 90% of the time.

Honestly I don’t do a ton of pre snap adjustments because I don’t do it quick enough, so any of that would have been how they lined up.

I just don’t understand why the dude just stood still. Then the safety came down and covers a dude who’s smothered while letting that guy streak by.

What was the score? I'd probably be a 4 deep and shaded over the top. Shading take two buttons, triangle on ps5 and then flick right stuck up. You can have your DB's shade inside/outside and underneath/over the top. Like of someone is running a lot of zig routes, shade outside and underneath and they'll clamp that up. But now you're fucked if they run a corner so be careful lol.

It was 21-21 with like 0:50 left, against the CPU. I think I was in Cover 3. I should mess with pre snap stuff more but I feel like no matter what I do I guess wrong or it doesn’t work lol

I’ll also admit that I’m one who just wants to play the game without doing a bunch of the random stuff I see on YouTube. I know that’s not how it works lol but it’s just annoying.

Yea cover 3 leaves the seams open. Looks like the slot CB was playing a purple zone (for corner routes) and the safety in the middle moved to the middle on the crossing route. The safety should stay back but he didnt. I'd suggest only doing cover 3 if you shade over the top, but even then 4 verts have that safety in the middle in a pickle. Cover 3 can just bombed easily on the game.

Ive noticed the effectiveness of C3 isn’t what it was at the beginning. Might be time to switch to C4 the majority of the time. I basically play a bend but don’t break defense and hope for a mistake/turnover.

    Who you starting?

The elite dev power back (Bibbs) with 94 speed?

    The 99 speed receiving back?

The lowest rated RB on the roster who also has platinum shifty and 96 speed?

I’m a little worried about the guys who have carrying ratings in the 60s and low 70s though.

In base 3-4 if you have one OLB that's an elite pass rusher and mid 70s coverage and another that's a run stopper with elite coverage - which side you lining each one up on? I tend to go pass rusher at LOLB but he "plays at" 8 overall higher if I put him at ROLB

this ratings difference is due to one being on the field in nickel situations while the other LB comes off the field

so he probably should be ROLB and then he comes off the field when you go nickel at which point you should have him in a rush DE role on your 4 man front

if you run a 3-3-5 instead of traditional 4-2-5 look, then it really doesn't matter

Mostly run some kind of 3-4 on most downs or some form of 4-2 nickel on passing downs/vs spread formations
