100k should get you a fully functional, life-size AI robot of your character. It is mind-numbing to think anyone would pay that for a video game avatar.
maybe people should just chill out and wait for more details before making a ton of assumptions and speaking in certainties.
i play one mobile game, i'm not f2p but i'm certainly no whale either. sometimes i'll try a new game but not often and spend a bit but i have my limits. there's a "clan" who seem to bounce around from one game to another while each spending 20k+ per month. when asked how much they spend on a given game its always "i dont keep track of it" but its pretty easy to figure out a rough estimate. theyre all early early bitcoin investors. its absurd.
No, it doesn't. You get 450k VC for $100 and it costs about 350k VC to fully upgrade a player. It's a little more than last year, but nowhere near $150 unless you're buying 20k VC at a time.
I didn't know the exact number. Point stands. They increased the cost to fully upgrade a player and significantly reduced the VC you earn in game
The increase is roughly $5, not $75, which is what you said. Wish it was the same or less, but I don't think that's an egregious increase. Not sure on how much VC you earn, I don't really pay attention to it. Not sure I trust your statement after being so wrong on the other part though.
Google says they increased it by 87k VC to get to 99 which is more like a $25 increase but maybe we were talking about different things. 470k to 99 not accounting for animations. Plus last year was higher than previous years. As for the rest of my point, they changed mycareer nba contracts from being able to earn around 1000 VC per game in salary depending on draft position to flat 500 no matter what. VC rewards for side quests and endorsements are lower across the board.
One good thing they did this year is animations work across all of your players this year. In years past you had to buy them for each player, but this year you buy them once and they work for all players. So all players after your first are a good bit cheaper than the first.
dbl will defend it by coming in here to say he would spend 1000 in microtransactions if they let him so 500 isn’t a big deal
Gonna need a DLC expansion for a business simulator where I get to create custom NIL deals to lure transfers
Now today 2k gave you something to really bitch about. - Once you do certain objectives with your player, you're allowed to create a "rebirth" player that can go to a 90 overall and had about half his badges right away so you don't start from zero every player. Great part of the game. - While completing those objectives, you unlock 4 badges. Your rebirth player gets that +4 too. - There was a bug in the game where the rebirth builds were getting +8, not +4. It wasn't a glitch, it just happened naturally on all rebirth builds. You got +5 to start and then another +4 when you completed the objective that got your first build a +4. - So people have been making builds for 4-5 days based on getting +8. A lot of them are basically useless with just +5 instead of +8. They were made specifically due to getting the extra 4. It costs about $45 dollars to upgrade these players to a 90 overall. - This morning 2k went in and deleted all of the extra bages. All of those builds now only have +4. Again, this wasn't a glitch. Nobody cheated to do. They just fucked up the code and people reacted accordingly. One of my teammates had already made 4 of them to use and grind at different times. - That's incredibly fucked up. It wasn't cheating. It wasn't a glitch. You just played the game and that's what happened. It's not a huge deal to me personally but man that's really shitty for kids that just used all their available funds to make their one build to play on all year and then have it altered later bc 2k had to make up for their mistake.
I don't really view upgrading a player as a microtransaction. Shoes, shirts, boosts, that's microtransactions. Creating an online character is just part of the game if you want to play online. Or stay offline and player the computer for 20 seasons.
People who pay extra for these things are the reason all these sports games suck, there’s no reason to improve the game if people keep throwing money at them They have no reason to complain and I hope 2K and EA keep ripping people off until they realize it and stop buying shit
Disagree, personally. I couldn't care less about any game they've ever made. I hope you enjoy it though. See how easy that is? Being happy others got ripped off on a game or game mode you don't care for is lame.
I’m not happy about it at all idk where you got that from. I want so badly to play good sports games the only one out there is Football Manger though If you’re going to continuously play into the hands of game developers who don’t give a fuck about the quality of the product simply because you like sports than you get what you deserve
Your idea of good and someone else's idea of good can differ. That's what you can't grasp. Millions of people enjoy playing 2k and Madden. Could they improve? Sure, but people still enjoy them the way they are and the sales support that. People paying for microtransactions isn't the issue, competition is the issue. Don't blame people for playing a game mode you don't care about for the issues with the game. You like to play offline against the computer like it's 1992 instead of 2022. You're the outlier now and the games don't cater to you. That's a you problem.
microtransactions suck, but I can see them making sense in certain situations. What I don't like is when games, say an RPG changes the amount of experience needed on a character from level 1-99 go from 10 million xp (say 40 hours real life time) to 100 million xp (400 hours) and then offers to sell you experience. That's basically what NBA2k has done incrementaly over the years. It is also nice if you have the disposable income and don't want to grind to be able to pay $50 and have a good player. I think the balance is important. You can't just make it ultra time consuming to have someone good just so you can force people to pay money. That's what 2K has been doing.
it’s a game made in the fashion you just claimed is an outlier and it’s murdering every other game in sales this year
I view online and offline separately. It's too different things. For $60, you get the offline game that's similar to 1998. You can play 100 seasons, make trades, etc. If you want to play online, it's going to cost about another $70 to make that character and play vs other people. Sure you can do it for free but the amount of time it's take to take a guy from 60 to 99 is astronomical and not realistic. I'm ok with the modes being separate and the online version having an additional cost. I do think it should be a flat fee to access online and then you can make as many players as you want. The microtransactions I hate are the ones where you gain a game by game advantage like boosts. Running +5 boosts in 5 different categories every game is a pretty big advantage and gets super expensive. That's the trash part imo.
"Hey it's wrong to criticize and make fun of the way that I like to play games. Stop doing that. You play the game how you want and be happy. I hope you enjoy it. Also, the way that you play games is stupid and outdated." - dbl
Nothing wrong with multiplayer I get it, I’m a sales engineer so I talk on zoom meetings all day long for a living so at the end of the day I just wanna zone out with a book or a singe player game so it isn’t for me It’s the fortnite-ification of sports games that I have a problem with
I mean it is outdated but I'm not saying he deserves a shitty game or a be ripped off for playing it. Saying people deserve to be ripped off for playing online is lame.
I've never played it, but isn't fortnite free to play? Only skins have a cost? What's your issue with that game?
I don't think I like the idea of the portal being in the game. To me, what made recruiting fun was that it was quick and never felt like a chore. Another layer of that (esp if you have to recruit your existing players to stay) sounds a little grindy to me. Maybe it can be disabled though
I want the portal to be in the game, but my players can't enter it. Both in this video game and in the real world.
