PS3 brah, but thanks for the invite.
Does anybody remember in 2005 or 2006 the WR Direct Snap glitch with South Carolina's playbook? Some dickwad did it to beat me online by using it at the end of the game at the goal line.
Need the Bill Walsh series to make a comeback...
Gus Bus before Gus Bus
I hold scoreboard you little faggot-ass bitch. I have nothing to prove and now the game will never be made again. Sucks to suck, homo.
South Bend '88 may be the greatest team in video game history.
"In the zone" pulsating icon
It's too bad the series didn't end on the high note that NCAA 13 was, 14 was just awful.
The recruiting change was what made me resist buying it. I have still never played it.
That and the inability to play defense make it unplayable
The best feature from that version was that if you played every game for a team in season mode, and won the national championship you'd get a "team specific celebration"
Did it for Colorado because they had Kordell Steward & Rashan Salaam. The team specific celebration was a pixelated buffalo running across the field.
I totally forgot about "team specific celebration"
What a simpler time.
EA Sports reached an initial settlement with the Plaintiffs before the NCAA settled. EA Sports wanted to continue the franchise, but the NCAA refused to license it. The Plaintiffs also wanted to continue the franchise so they could collect royalties.
In July 2013, the Collegiate Licensing Corporation had an agreement with its member schools (almost 70-80% of BCS schools) to move forward, but the conferences stepped in and cancelled the deal.
My guess is that nothing happens until the O'Bannon antitrust case on amateurism is resolved. The Plaintiffs won in the trial court on 8/1/14 and the appeal was argued on 3/17/15. Most expect a decision before the season starts. If the NCAA loses its appeal, it will take a discretionary appeal to the US Supreme Court, which does not have to accept the appeal. If they win, its back to the trial court depending upon the ruling.
It ain't happening this year.
a wild Clemson Dynasty builder appears...
Even with this, would've taken a while.
"This guy's one of the most athletic players I've seen all year. Do you realize in high school he was all-state in football, basketball, AND baseball? He's been making big plays his whole life."
IIRC they had a keyboard you could buy and that's what they used.
HE'S GOT A LOT OF GREEN
You can actually hook a regular keyboard to your Xbox.
And you can edit roster files on a PC
The individual schools are free to do whatever they want to license their own trademarks, colors, uniforms, names. The August 1, 2014 ruling in the antitrust case, in theory, would allow the schools to escrow those royalties for players and pay them out after graduation. The Plaintiffs proposed that solution to amateurism at one point, but the conferences and NCAA are standing firm and no one is willing to break rank.
Wasn't that the version on the Xbox where every receiver had a case of dick hands?
Anybody else ever bring up a 1AA team in Dynasty mode? I usually would use Western Kentucky and replace Vandy with them or Weber State in either the PAC10 or Big 12 usually always Baylor. First recruiting class regardless of how shitty they were always started the next year.
I was crushed when they did away with 1-AA schools and just did FCS West or whatever
Easily countered by slanting your DL to the side of the RB.
I miss the PS1 days with concurrent FBS/FCS dynasties.
There couldn't be a more EdmondDantes moment than that unless you walked In on him watching his mom get spit roasted by two Africans
What were the changes?
always hated the new version for the first couple of weeks
Only until 2010 did they start releasing it in Canada because of low demand so I used to make the 2.5 hour trek to Syracuse every year on this day to get it
One of the years XPs were no sure thing. Maybe 2006, 07, or 08? Half of the XPs got blocked.
I think dukebuckeye posted that it was all points based and not the hours/minutes thing it had been in the past. Also that the scouting and finding a 3-star that rated out at a 5-star was gone. I don't really remember all of it just that he said it pretty much ruined the recruiting which after 10 seasons is really all I'm playing it for.
did they not have the internet in Canada?
I always wished the Punters and kickers were better but that I could realistically block a field goal or extra point
I'd always rename my 1st top black recruit Lamont Bond for no good reason
I was one of those people who would overuse the strip button, and I fucking HATED how often it resulted in a 15 yard facemask.
NCAA 2009 Florida was the best team ever assembled on that game
So disappointing. I usually use this game to get me to football season. I hate this time of year.
It was points base and kind of tough to explain, but essentially it was extremely loaded towards the computer having the advantage in recruiting against you head-to-head. While it did eliminate super classes (25 5 stars), it was just really frustrating to lead for a guy all cycle, have the computer get involved and lose the guy before signing day. Like the most you could allocate to 1 recruit each week was 700 points, and then you might get bonus points on top of that for proximity to home, program prestige, how you use that position, etc. But the logic was that no matter how many points you had, the computer was always putting 700 points towards that recruit. So if you and the CPU maxed out, it came down to bonus to sway the recruit.
Also, the post season recruiting time period was one session where you had to allocate 15K points across any uncommitted targets. Spreading it out equally meant you'd get 0 because the CPU was spending 15K on them, so you had to focus on 2, maybe 3 guys you wanted and allocate to them. So you might have like 10 guys you're #1 for, but they haven't committed yet, so you have to pick 3 and let the rest go elsewhere because if you tried to spread it across all 10, the computer would get them all because you wouldn't have enough points to hold them off....
The whole point was to load your board with guys that have you #1, then pick a few top guys you would like and just max them out each week, and let your bonus points recruit the guys at #1. Once a guy committed, you roll your points into someone else, and so on. The goal was to have all the players you cared about committed before signing day.
I fucking loved the version where you got to pick what you talked about on recruiting visits. Make a pitch, read their reaction, then pick their top 3 topics on their visit to focus on and voila they committed.
I think it was '97 on PC when LSU had Herb Tyler, Kevin Faulk, Rondell Mealy, and Cecil The Deisel Rapist Collins - ran the option non stop.
the off season recruiting, did anyone look for players who were 3 or 4 stars but for some reason had no offers and then offer them?
could always snag an extra 1 or 2 guys
Why'd it get cancelled again? Lawsuits?
Woah woah woah...Cecil Collins wasn't a rapist...he just liked to watch chicks sleep
After a while I started to limit my recruiting to the number of Seniors I was losing plus 2-3 more so that I wasn't spending the off season cutting 10 former 5-star recruits. Plus those guys I'm not recruiting and cutting into the ether are instead playing on some other schools's team and making the game play more even. It was a strategy to help try and keep the game play fun after year 2055.
Ohio and Boise State would blow up big time as well. Can't tell you how many times the Rose Bowl would be Texas v. USC and then the title game would be Ohio vs. whatever shit school I decided to commandeer.
I always just turn the C-USA or BIGXII (after the SEC, ACC, & B1G raid it) into the shitty schools that have high rankings conference and let them knock each other off.
My buddy was our hs qb. He thought it gave him an advantage playing this game. I would substitute Darren Sproles in as qb and just rape him. Still cracks me up how mad he would get when he would see me go into the roster and make the change.
