Where are you/what is your distance you’d travel? Might be able to find one in the same or very similar spec on a lot with some digging. What is your ideal spec and color?
Columbus. Think I looked at the Ford website and looked around 125 miles out. I was looking for a Premium, color isn't a huge deal. Didn't know if there was a good way to search inventories, via ford.com or whatever. Same with used Tesla.
A couple of options close to or at MSRP. All appear to be in stock. Both about 200 miles out: https://www.serrafordrochesterhills...Ford-Mustang+Mach+E-Premium-3FMTK3SU5MMA64820 https://www.tholzerford.com/new/Ford/2021-Ford-Mustang+Mach-E-309282b10a0e09b0478894ffe477cc55.htm https://www.tholzerford.com/new/Ford/2021-Ford-Mustang+Mach-E-ad56afac0a0e09b178e5b16abff0a71b.htm The infinite blue is my favorite and also discontinued.
Now what I’m also seriously interested in is driving an ioniq 5 and seeing how it compares with what I have.
Shopped some Ioniq 5s across Colorado for shits and giggles. Everything is still in transit and will be marked up 10k. I’ll wait.
If ford doesn’t launch a Lincoln EVator as their luxury SUV then they’ll have failed as a company. /randomthought
Not sure where to post this, but the traction control on my Model S is fantastic for driving in winter weather. The ability to instantaneously limit power application makes it damn near impossible to spin the tires in Chill mode with just A/S tires.
Just bought a 2017 Leaf for my youngest, who doesn't even have his license yet I'll be driving it until the ID.4 arrives
Ford dealer called. He said he’s getting 2 trucks, I was 2nd in line, 7500 markup, 2500 deposit. Nope.
My buddy at the dealership says it's an absolute shitshow and they were not prepared at all for the demand.
I can’t say I’m really surprised, but god damn if you can only promise 2 vehicle orders to the largest volume dealer in a state then what are you doing?
My buddy says that though publicly, they say they have capacity for 75,000 to be made this year, internally the belief is that it will be only 20-30k.
They managed to make and sell nearly 2 million vehicles in 2021, 1% of that doesn’t seem like a semiconductor issue.
I think this is the move. Just read a huge New Yorker article about the lightning and the author drove an R1T and instantly fell in love after spending 2000 words on the F150 https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2022/01/31/americas-favorite-pickup-truck-goes-electric
The R1T has so many cool features and specs but I’d be nervous about buying a vehicle from a company as young as Rivian. I’ll be interested what real-world reviewers end up saying about it.
This was me, just got my model Y a couple weeks ago and wife put in an order for the Rivian SUV. Not paying 90k for an electric truck.
I put my order in about 4 months ago and my estimated delivery is Q1 of 23 just so you have an idea on the timeline.
Yep gotta have beefy silicon to handle the electric drive and charging system. Completely different ballpark than ICE vehicles.
like they’ll get there but if you want a first edition Lightning you’re gonna be paying out the ass for it. give it like five years and save yourself the stress
Normally I’d agree but they’ve got billions behind them and moved into an already built plant. They should be good to go.
If I were to buy an EV now it very likely would be that Hyundai Ioniq 5. That thing looks sweet. I'm at least a couple years away though. I want to pay off my current vehicle plus I want to give the manufacturers more time to make the battery's and/or charging more efficient.
how many miles you drive a year bc $3500 a year is ~$300/month which means you currently spend about $450/month on fuel
and also assumes that electricity costs zero (I’m not even anti EV, they are quickly going to be the future)
Hello EVs cut fuel costs by as much as 75% fun fact woohoo ICE F150 MPG: 21 Lightning MPG equivalent: 85 Odyssey gets around 17MPG, gas is $5.00/gallon here
I'm assuming that my EV costs 6-7 cents/mile, which it does since I drive it and charge it at home and can see what I'm getting.
this also depends on how you charge at home, i'm at about 67% saving from gas to electric but if I ever used a supercharger it's almost as expensive as gas how much is your kWh at your house if you plan on charging at home
