Have an electric motorcycle. I use it for commuting/joy riding/training. It goes 0-60 in 3.2 and I typically get around 120 miles/charge (riding mostly backroads and city roads. It costs me about 1 cent/mile charging overnight at home. Im sure it’s the same in electric cars, but my brakes last a really long time, with regenerative braking. My only real maintenance cost is tires.
Really? Where are you? I feel like I see several of the Mach-e's around every day here Am I mistaking it for something else?
Des Moines I have yet to see another one that isn’t a dealer show model. I think they’ve delivered something like 6700 units.
Yea, that's what I've seen I know there is one I regularly see at the middle school that is that blue even
m3 LR or performance is a better comparison and you can still get the fed tax credit on the polestar also plenty of room for negotiation from what I understand
I do not disagree, but where I work is desolate. Literally been a dry county most of my life. I would rather drive a little bit and listen to a book to be able to have a draft beer when I want one. Plus, the area where I work is not ideal for living based on the poverty status. Owning a business in an extremely conservative town and not having extremely conservative beliefs makes that drive minor.
Just checking in. 1350 miles in a week since it came off the lot and it’s still awesome. Range has been pretty good. Definitely saw some reduction in heavy wind on the interstate. Got level 2 charging set up in the garage and that’s been a game changer. Not having to go charge or gas up somewhere is unbelievable.
I’m averaging around 250-260 vs the advertised 270. A lot of tests are at/above the 270, but I’m probably not being very efficient yet. It’s been majority highway, which is rated at 249, so that’s pretty much on, I guess. The efficiency of the Mach-E is less than that of a Tesla model 3 or Y. MME is 88 usable khw or right at 3 mpkhw. Model Y Long Range appears to use 75kwh for an estimated 326 or around 4.3 mpkhw.
A guy in a mustang creeped on me yesterday and waited for me to pull in a parking lot, then gave me a business card for the local mustang club. I joined their Facebook group and saw there were a bunch of shit talking posts about Mach-E then the guy I talked to posted a pic of my car and that really rustled some jimmies among the local stang chuds. Wild stuff. In other news, I never want to drive a gas car regularly again.
Well, I made it all of about a week after this post. Got rear ended and in all likelihood the Jeep is totaled. If it was worth more than a snickers bar, probably wouldn't be totaled, but that is the joy of having a vehicle with almost 200k miles.
https://electrek.co/2021/05/19/ford...40k-w-300-mile-range-and-can-power-your-home/ standard range 230miles and $39k longer range 300miles and $49k
Georgia must already do this because my annual registration when I got my Bolt last year went from like $25 to $250, I assume because I'm not paying any fuel tax if I regularly bought gasoline.
I put the $100 down on the F150 to get in line should I want one. I was torn between EV and pickup and went EV. Now, why not both? I’ve seen enough good things with my Mach-E that I’m very much interested in seeing the truck.
What’s the charging time? either way, that’s great news. We need charging stations and more manufacturers making a broad range of affordable vehicles into electrics
I didnt see anything about ford having a quick charge like what hyundai is coming out with (even though I think hyundai's chargers that can do the quick charge will be super limited), so i'd assume it's tesla esque where it's the 40ish minutes at a supercharger for a full charge
ohh look a functional electric truck that I can put a ladder rack and tool boxes onto- this is going to sell like crazy
I also put in a reservation last night because why not. The center screen is absurdly huge but I guess that's the way everyone is going now. Most excited about the frunk and Blue Cruise. The only time I'd need the long range pack would be going to the beach so might risk the standard and assume a stop to charge a little and grab something to eat along the way.
For $30k less you’re getting a work truck with 230 miles of range. Most folks will at least opt for the XLT which is $15k less expensive, but I haven’t seen anything regarding its battery size.
You get used to the center screen and stuff really fast. My take is that you don’t know what you’re going to get with Rivian and some of the new players. Even Tesla and it’s suspect build quality. So far Ford has demonstrated a good build quality and vehicle functionality with lacking software and EV tech. The biggest pro for Ford is that most of their issues can be solved on existing vehicles as they get better with the software. Much harder from the other side where the issues are or could be build related.
Android auto on my Bolt center screen panel is nice. Probably the biggest thing I wasn't unaware of with an EV how much less rain do you get during the winter. Like maybe 20% less than during the summer, Even if you don't run the heat or AC much.
Yeah I’m now looking over all of this and am super tempted to put in a reservation. Do we expect the $7,500 tax credit to be in place on this?
I put in a resevation. Wife and I were looking at getting a new Pilot or Ascent this month but we'll wait now for this.
the other side of this is that Ford will have plug and play aftermarket parts and accessories- if your a construction company that’s going green for government or municipality contracts the F150 will be a no brainer the entire ecosystem for the F150 already exists and it’s a monster- not to mention the F150 Fleet pools and contracts. I don't think anyone on here deals with Fleet Pools but F150 is the fucking king of the fleet pool- when a construction company needs 30 vehicles they don't just go to Joe Blow Ford and order them off the lot. It comes from a fleet pool with every accessory, coloring, labeling, ladder rack etc all installed and delivered. Ford and their partners are the best at this which is why they own the construction market and van market. Rivian and Telsa or Hummer don't have this background- Ford is going to fucking light this up Just like you can't get hybrid Explorer's at retail- every single one being built is going to fleets more specifically police. City of Chicago alone ordered 4,000 of them not to mention LA
Between their leftovers from the current credit (I think they entered 2021 with like 140/200k used) and the new legislation they should be able to cover 2022 with at least the 7500.
And how will that connect to the main battery system so that it knows to use that and not shut off the car? I could maybe see OEM selling that as an option, but aftermarket sounds kind of insane
Pleasantly surprised you can get an electric F-150 for less than $40k. I was thinking they'd start at double that, minimum. I may be in the minority here, but I'd like them (and all electric vehicles, really) much more if they designed them like the regular F-150s rather than going for the Terminator aesthetic. I'm sure I'll get used to it in a year or two. If I was in the market for a truck I'd 100% get one, even still.
This is what EVs are until there are super-charging stations every 10 miles. I can't go on super long trips, but my car has a listed range of about 230mi and I was able to drive from Atlanta to Asheville and use level-2 chargers over various points during the weekend to get back up.
My old man took a demo day in a Mach-e the other day. He fucking loved it. I can see him buying one of those “for my mom” and then buying the new F150 for himself.
