He paid 45k and they only offered him 5k more for it when they could sell it for 90?

Yes. I’m sure he could have negotiated a better deal, but his wife has been waiting 2 years for a ford branded wrangler and would kill him if he didn’t come home with one. Apparently, car dealerships will take advantage of people if the opportunity presents itself.

Legit question, does it only use cameras and not readily available info like google maps to know what streets are 1 way?

Not 100% sure but it should be going off one ways from it's routing data. I'm guessing they just had that road fucked up and would have directed you to turn there even if you were manually driving and it was routing you.

Planning to have a level 2 installed soonish.

    Any opinions between:

    FLO Home X5 ($745)

    Chargepoint ($699)

    Juicebox ($499)

any reason you are paying for that instead of just getting a 14-50 outlet?

idk what vehicle you drive, but $40 for an adapter (plus outlet install) is gonna be cheaper than one of those + install and on tesla the charge rate difference is pretty minimal (I think it's 40 miles added vs 30 miles added per hour)

I have a Volvo C40 set at 48 amps max

Currently just plug into a standard wall outlet or use the electrify america package they gave me. The only research I’ve done is looking at GA power website at EV chargers with rebates.

If you live in an area where it gets cold in winters, Chargepoint all the way.

I have it mounted outside and it's better than juicebox from all accounts - esp the cable still being pliable under 20F

I was hoping it would say what the miles added per hour was on each option

Sometimes I think it would be nice if I had a faster charger than the mobile charger, but not enough to spend the $500-800 on a unit. Very rarely do I need a fast top off at home. I don’t commute 250 miles a day with 8 hours for a 100% recharge.

Based on google specs your at 75kwh and 3mi/kWh so if you’re pumping in 5-6 on the mobile/14-50 that’s 7% per hour or 15 mph based on that listed efficiency. 11 is going to be about 30mph added. This is if you upgrade to 220.

Remember mph is subjective. Your driving habits change that efficiency. Battery % per hour will be consistent.

FWIW, a lot of utility companies have rebates for L2 chargers (my provider is pretty shit but i got a 300$ rebate for allowing them to control charging during peak load times - i never charge the car during those times anyway). Additionally, I was able to claim the charger + installation costs on my taxes for a 30% rebate (upto 1000$).

I got a rebate for my L2 charger, I think it was $150 total between it and installation (needed a dedicated circuit and a new 240 volt outlet) in my garage.

    For you EV owners...

What's the best app or apps to find EV chargers? Are they pretty much all the same? Do some apps have blind spots like they don't stay updated or they're great at showing all stations but not how many chargers are available, etc.?

PlugShare has always worked well for me. A better route planner comes up in a lot of discussions, but I’m not a big fan of it. Trying to do too much.

I think PlugShare relies on check-Ins/outs for real time plug availability and the owners for general up or down. I plan routes on PS then use the brand’s app if they have one to double check. It’s also easy to see if there are recent reviews from someone with your car at a station to give a little more confidence in the choice.

Bought a 2017 Leaf in January for $13k.

That (R) is full of shit, deliberately fudging numbers by including tricked out Teslas in the "average" price

while trying to score points by complaining that taxpayer money (gasp!) was being used to subsidize environmental policy (even though Chevrolet and Tesla aren't eligible for the rebates anymore)

The money I've saved since January by not buying gas has paid for the L2 charger installation

    SIAP...

I discovered this YT channel last week sometime. It's a pretty decent follow to stay up to date on all things EV. He posts a ~15 min. video every day that summarizes everything that was announced/updated in the industry over the last 24 hrs.

    https://youtube.com/c/ElectrifiedSzn

One thing to note is that he is very, very much a Tesla fanboy so you just have to deal with that as I'm warning you, he won't be critical of his lord and savior Elon but his videos still do a good job of keeping his viewers "in the know" with all things EV related.

Yeah, that’s my biggest annoyance in the EV media world. Tesla fandom is out of control and they treat it as the gold standard, even as it has been surpassed in many areas. Kyle from out of spec is the same way.

Ok. I live in a city with a ton of really legitimate potholes. Like fuck you up potholes. And also weird asphaupt bumps that rise up out of the ground like 6-9 inches in weird spots for no discernible reason.

I want to take the plunge on an ID4. but I think it might not work because it looks pretty low to the ground. Can any ID4 owners speak to that?

RWD version supposedly has 6" clearance, AWD version has 6.7" clearance.

My RWD Pro S hasn't bottomed out on anything yet, and I tend to avoid potholes

Doesn’t the ID4 have the horsepower of a golf cart? That wouldn’t cut it for my commute to work and the grocery store. I NEED SPEED

RWD has 201hp, AWD has 295hp. I think my RWD has a 0-60 time of about 8 seconds and the AWD model does it in about 6.2 seconds. The thing is that because of the instantaneous torque you get immediate acceleration without feeling like you're taxing an ICE engine by revving it, you just press the pedal and go. Wife has a Lexus ES350 and thinks the VW is quicker off the line. And I regularly cruise 75-80 on the freeway here and it feels like nothing, even though at those speeds its a bit of a battery drainer (as it is for all EVs)
