mine was $900 but it involved a 30 foot run of wire. high gauge is expensive af. $500 rebate from our utility tho I ended up taking the plug off and hardwiring an emporia charging station. saw some horror stories on portable chargers burning out plugs
I considered having mine installed at the front of the garage with the other plugs, but knew it would cost more. Good you had rebates available, we have nothing in Florida.
Any idea how that compares to the F150? Also, they can sell as many as they want. How many will actually deliver?
Ford Lightning capacity is expected to grow to only 150k/year. I think the number you’re estimating is for the ICE. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/08/01...htning-production-amid-heightened-demand.html
I don’t know what the original question was asking either. It still helps to put the 150k from Tesla in perspective to compare to ICE F150s. It’s laughable to imagine them selling 25% as many cybertrucks as ICE F150s. Delivering that number is impossible for Tesla, but maybe not what they were trying to say anyway.
Sorry, I meant the Lightening. Wanted to compare what Elon thinks he’ll sell at launch compared to what Ford did.
Sorry if this has been asked before, but does anyone have a recommendation for a plug in charger? Just one of those that you'd plug into an outlet on the wall. I live in an apartment now that I can't install a wall charger in, and then will be moving out and into my gf's parents' place for 3 months end of year. Doesn't make sense to install one there either, so looking to buy something to get a little juice overnight since that's plenty enough for day to day usage. I have a Model Y so wondering if I should just get the Tesla one, or if something off Amazon would be sufficient and equal / higher quality.
My wife drove the Mach-e to work on Friday. One coworker (male) asked if it was her’s and she said it’s my husband’s. Then he says that’s not a real mustang. It’s a fake. I almost died laughing when she told me that.
They’ll burn the fuck outta “real” mustang. Not sure what model you have but it’s high up on my rankings for next auto.
Wife needs an ev. Free chargers at our apartments and at her work and tons of stations around us. She found a Mazda that’s like a hybrid/ev but I think we need just a good mid sized ev suv
The Mobile Connector works great directly from Tesla, I'd recommend it. Used the 12a adaptor for 3 months and just bought the 14-50 adapter for my new garage plug.
I have the emporia charging station, plugged into a NEMA 14-50 it can do 40A, hardwired it can do 48A. You can manually change the power draw in the app so it’s nice to have the flexibility if your setup changes. I have it hardwired to a 60A circuit in my garage and get 11kW charging at 48A. It’s also the cheapest one by a good margin at $399, but still UL listed etc
I’ve been really happy with my Q4 (or the iD.4 if you want the cheaper version). only drawback to the Germans is the range is not amazing, so if that’s high on your priority list you likely want to look elsewhere
Because to those morons, anything that doesn’t have a V8 isn’t a “real” mustang. But it would be fun to put a shit box fox body with a 5.0 and the Mach E side-by-side and tell them they can choose one to take home and drive. I imagine only the dumbest would pick the 5.0.
Warning for Tesla owners/interested buyers: waiting for spare parts to the body shop can take a looooooong time
The Mach E would crush the jump, but a newer ICE GT would probably catch up if there was enough distance in this made up drag race. Mach E a lot heavier too.
Seems like there is a lot of push back to some of the more aggressive EV adoption deadlines in Europe. I think most companies are already forging ahead and will meet the original deadline, this seems like a PR pull for politicians to "relax" the rules.
Rented with Avis today and received a Hyundai Ioniq 5. I’ve been interested in driving one for a while but this was first opportunity. Overall, decent car, but the dash was cumbersome to navigate and the constant beep warnings for some shit I never could figure out was annoying. I was quite unimpressed by the torque. Pains me to say this because Elno is a fuck stick, but the Tesla driving experience is far superior.
Any grunblings on when exactly the Equinox EV will become available? They said Fall 2023 but I’ve heard nothing in the way of specifics and Fall is right around the corner.
Got access the the Rivian store before my build started. Decided to pick up one that is ready now that had different wheels than my original build. Save $1500 and should be able to pick up within a week. Excited.
the Tesla midsize SUV also has a starting price of almost twice the Ioniq’s. you would hope it would drive nicer
Has a rough go live date been given for non-Tesla car access to Superchargers? I keep seeing early 2024 but nothing else. I looked at the latest Supercharger map, I'm just not seeing the growth and construction to indicate they're going to be ready for the new demand. I'm already seeing Superchargers in Florida with wait times just accommodating the Tesla only demand. What happens when you add all the new brands in?
