I enjoy the insinuation that people here have never met a Republican before or can hold long term memories. Quality shit.
Whammy this is from Pew https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-ta...days-congress-has-roots-that-go-back-decades/
the mild nonconformity you're talking about is basically ignoring that there was a full on insurrection, or at the very least minimizing the gravity of it. after years of ramping extremism by the right, trying to both sides the issue is never going to be met without pushback. it's just lazy.
If the left had radicalized like the right you’d have seen billionaires with their heads cut off in the streets and actual communists in congress. Name me one person like MTG or LB on the left.
I have lived in the south my whole life and need to get out of a left bubble. It's almost word for word what talking head used to say
Yes Redav, I am most certainly talking about your physical surroundings and not TMB and media consumption habits. Very astute, and smart!
Most posters on this board live in or grew up in red states in very red areas with very red families. Goddamn
No one compares to MTG, that bitch is crazy. Keith Ellison and Auntie Maxine have said some crazy shit. Ayanna Taylor too, but composed. As I’ve continued to maintain, I’m a dirty both sides boi.
Living around all red people has made me dislike it way more than being in some liberal bubble. If I lived in a heavily blue area or had an all blue family id prob not be this way tbh.
As if that’s what I was implying lol. I grew up in a red city and state and am now blue. Almost like the media you choose to consume and the people you consort with matter more than a color on a map. That was not the smart comment you thought it was
Like I gotta listen to Ben Shapiro to have an opinion or some bullshit? You think I don’t talk to idiots that spout his talking points all the fucking time in real life?
Classic midwit response - how could there be blue people (like me) when the state went 50.1% to Republicans and is a “red state.” Are the people you are now surrounded with different than they were two years ago (now that Georgia is a blue state). Just silly, faux smart people. Yeesh
Guys the ideological lean of a state in the aggregate is meaningless next to the people you surround yourselves with and the media you consume. I.E. Redav claiming to not live in a bubble despite being in a “red state.”
We’re saying that we are all also largely surrounded by idiot rwnjs and you’re ignoring that or something
Ignoring it because you can live in a red state and be in a blue bubble. Live in Atlanta, Dallas, etc…plus media consumption overrides immediate geography IMO. We good now
We have lots of posters on here who’ve talked about losing their parents or family members to rightward shift over the last 5 years. I think most people here are well aware of the right
Roger Stone Tries to Come Back to Twitter, Is Immediately Re-Banned “Well bitches I’m back on Twitter,” Stone bragged on Telegram early Thursday morning. “I’m anxious to see how strong Elon Musk’s commitment to free speech is.” After the new account, @RogerStoneUSA, was connected to the self-described “dirty trickster,” he was banned within minutes—again. “The account referenced was permanently suspended for violations of the Twitter Rules, specifically our ban evasion policy,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Daily Beast. https://www.thedailybeast.com/roger-stone-tries-to-come-back-to-twitter-is-immediately-re-banned
I still want to know about how the left has moved more left than the right has moved right when the right is a) rolling back abortion rights b) criminalizing the transition process c) trying to set up the means to overrule the popular vote in several states and d) tried to upend the presidential election in a coup d’etat. I still haven’t gotten any sort of answer on this.
It was easier to think Republicans weren't crazy fucking nuts living in Chicago, where the Republicans either weren't crazy fucking nuts or were smart enough to keep their mouths shut.
Maybe half of one side of my family has gotten the covid vaccine because rwnj. Get out of your bubble!
I’m going to make a real effort to hang out with more people like Elon Musk and increase my ability to empathize with them
There is an ongoing battle in the MI GOP between establishment Republicans and MAGA nutjobs, and the MAGA nutjobs are winning, but Dems want to fix Obamacare and tax billionaires at a higher rate, so both sides I guess.
Remember when vaccine denial was a both sides home school weirdo/healing crystal issue then rwnjs took the ball and fucking ran with it and went and got themselves killed due to covid at a much higher rate. And now vaccine denial is a fairly mainstream republican politician taking point
Ok - finally at a computer. This framing is absurd. A) Rolling back abortion rights isn't my political preference, but Republicans have always opposed that. So how is rolling back abortion rights "moving" more to the right when it's the same policy preference they've had for decades. Derp, makes no sense. B) Trump, who is a terrible person, criminalized the transition process. Are you conveniently forgetting, Brian Kemp, the much maligned conservative governor of Georgia who basically told Trump to fuck off when he tried to pressure Georgia? Yes, you are because it doesn't serve your worldview C) This is going to be most controversial, but saying the "right" tried an insurrection is political opportunism at it's best. Those 8 piece of shit Oathbreakers who are going to jail absolutely deserve it, but those slack jawed rednecks who were let into the capitol (and stayed within the velvet ropes) were not trying a coup d tat and certainly not affiliated with the organized Republican. You know that right? MSNBC is going to keep screeching it for the midterms but most people know the insurrection language is overboard
Have you read the texts from Trump staffers? Attorney PowerPoint that talks about how to do a stolen election? Attorney for the president who tried to steal an election in courts? Call by president to Kemp to steal an election? All the republican politicians who voted to not certify election results? Jesus fucking Christ man pull you head out of the sand
Like, does no one remember McConnell coming out against it and essentially ensuring Trump would be removed? Hate that guy, but calling a spade a spade
There were a not insignificant number of republican politicians who took active steps to try to undermine a democratically elected politician. Like, a lot.
These are stomach turning shits, just got back from a wedding in Colombia and my stomach is fuckkkedddd. Very uncomfy
Do you guys remember that one republican who came out against the insurrection and the 70 other ones who said the election was a fraud?
B) Transitioning is the transgender process, not the transition of power, which is what D) was about. As far as that, 147 of the 261 Republicans in Congress voted against certifying the election. If anything, that sentiment has been hardened in the 16 months since. It’s hardly just 8 Oathkeepers and “slack jawed rednecks” but even if it was, the fact they were emboldened to do such a thing is indicative of a rightward shift in rhetoric which led them to think it was acceptable behavior. Still waiting on the examples of lefty rhetoric/legislation that’s more extreme than the examples I’ve provided.
