“I voted for him for reasons, I won’t tell you those reasons but it wasn’t the main one they campaigned on”
So did he vote for a shitty economy or for all the isms? We will never know! Because those are the results of the election.
Agreed that it’s a shitty stance but people wanting him banned from the board is absurd. He hasn’t posted anything that I have seen that could be anti-trans or bigoted other than he voted for an anti-trans bigot. I understand how it is deplorable but it’s not like it’s being thrown in our faces with tweets and whatnot.
only time I see any of dukebuckeye ’s posts are when he is tagged. If he’d ignore the tags in political threads he’d be nonexistent in them. He isn’t close to what the shit pitters were. They were openly spreading hate and white nationalist propaganda. Maybe voting for trump should be ban worthy but it isn’t. He should just stop the “awww shucks who me” schtick and understand his vote has caused pain to millions. The “lol” dismissive attitude is what pissses people off and makes him look like an asshole.
To each their own but I find the incessant tagging of Whammy and Duke to be extremely cringy. All it just masturbatory fishing for likes. Neither are worth the effort or attention. Youre also never going to get a satisfactory response. You're just patting yourself on the back and derailing the thread. There I said it
we have people on here all the time defending people they know in real life who voted. We have people on here talking about how the average American voter is an idiot. Maybe even some itt I’d have look it up but for some reason those things can’t be true about dukebuckeye.
I cant have brought this up more than 3-4x at most. Get better stamina. There are many times I refrain from bringing it up. You're welcome.
IIRC @lyrth among others said this is was non issue in the election results. I love we argue the opposite position depending on how we feel.
Selfishness and not giving a god damn fuck about anyone else except themselves is a proud and loud tenant of being a conservative. Well done
Expound on this please. I promise I'm not trying to be flippant and am trying to see past what appears to be an "I know you are but what am I" post.
I mean if you remove all context sure. But you can do that for any opinion expressed here. Really was an I know you are but what am I.
I truly don’t understand why tagging whammy or Duke on various dumb posts is any more or less interesting, righteous, or substantive than complaining about those kinds of posts. It’s all the same to me. And this isn’t a criticism of your post. I merely ~equate them. I don’t feel that strongly about this opinion, so I’m going to leave it alone from here.
Or maybe they want people to answer for the stuff they voted for and it has nothing to do with wanting likes??
It also is good social pressure which endless posters have referenced for helping them navigate their way out of being chuds
Bullying doesnt work this way. Which is mostly why I bring it up. If your purpose is to move him off being a chud, constantly calling him a POS or rubbing his nose in it isnt how it works. Societal pressure is good. It evokes change over time by engagement in perspectives. Not vile repeatedly spewed at them. Straight up bullying doesnt work. Especially online. Not to say they dont deserve it. But if it's for purposes of moving them off being a chud, you're more than likely just entrenching them. And were all getting made fun of at his dinner for schmucks. (Which is hilarious to think about )
You disregard the impact on others. Also I make sure my bullying is substantive. I think you're largely just wrong here, sure some evidence direct negative reaction isn't useful for changing opinions for that person, but again lots of bystanders and many have referenced these things over the years
Dukebuckeye enjoys negative attention. That person will always be a chud until something major happens to them. It's the troll archetype that is oddly prevalent in that fan base on here
I’m genuinely interested why he would chose to vote for Trump over Hilary, Biden, and Kamala. Is that really a tough thing to answer?
I also disagree with bullying doesn't work. Most posters won't dare publicly saying they support Trump on here and there definitely are some... and consider where this board was even 7-8 years ago. You can't even exchange those ideas openly in here and those ideas need light to live. No one wants to become a pariah like the OP
If it was just substantive bullying, I wouldnt have made the post. If youre only bullying substantively I wasnt referring to your posts. See my comments about not worth the time and energy. dukebuckeye enjoys it. Whammy just turtles. As I said - neither is going to give the response people are seeking. Unless they just want to yell into the void as catharsis. Which, I guess is valid but at times also feels performative after the 100th time. I feel like I've said my piece. We both think we are right and the other is wrong. I dont want to continue a circular argument.
Tough to answer, no. Easy to withhold, knowing the reaction that gets from the board - absolutley. I'd love to know too! I also know we wont get it
You keep ignoring the group dynamics and look at it as point a to b which is fine but should think about imo
If you go against the group you should be endlessly bullied and ostracized until you start acting right. Shit primates know this
Now we're discussing two different things. Creating a safe space on TMB vs converting chuds. I will agree that what you say is accurate about our community here. Act right or get ostracized. But also as important as TMB is to all of us, it's not real life either. I'm sure we have plenty of closeted chuds who go along to get along here. That is a good, for sure. We dont want any bigotry. That doesnt change anything in the real life either. But is good for the board 100% I dont think Whammy specifically is changing his mind or other people who feel that way are having their minds changed. They're just not talking about it here because they'll know they'll get attacked. I hope by seeing the discussion on what a fraud Elon is , would promote a change in thinking. And typically how minds are changed via that social dynamic. But everytime Whammy gets shit on is counterproductive to that. (Group dynamic convo for Lyrtch )
Yes we're in agreement but I still think it's good Whammy isn't here providing the latest spin. A lot of people find their politics through other people
Everyone knew that the trump admin would be radically anti-trans, but trump voters seem to have an ability to make up any policy position they want and make believe that trump supports it. Most of the post-election polling still suggests that "inflation" and "economy" or variations on that theme were the primary drivers of biden-trump crossover voting, not trans panic ads.
Everyone's not a transphobe which is good but they're alright with it if groceries get expensive which is bad
Anyone admitting to voting for Trump should be ostracized and treated like the garbage they think any non white person is
I think we largely have a selfish society who have no ability to put themselves in anyone else's shoes. Prob because we're all alienated and there is less and less social interaction. Used to have unions, church, bowling leagues, hanging out at the mall, etc and all that stuff is dying
you argued that trans rights had nothing to do with why Trump won. You argued that all the anti trans rhetoric was meaningless. Now someone is confirming your argument and you’re telling him that is bullshit? I’m so confused
