I’m 36 and BIG and PAC are incredibly important to me and my love of rap music. I think MBDTF goes toe to toe with Strictly for My Niggaz, All Eyez On Me, RTD and LAD easily and I don’t think that’s a controversial take anywhere outside of this thread
I won't argue that. It was a great album. But he didn't say "It's as good as any album Pac/Big made" he said their entire discography, meaning the sum of all of their music. At least that's how I took it.
All Eyez on Me is head and shoulders better and Me Against the World is probably better or at the very least equal to, as well. Ready to Die is also better.
If that’s what he meant, then there’s definitely more of a discussion to be had. If he’s talking on an album to album basis then there’s merit to it
I agree with all of this but I don't think someone that has MBDTF as equals is crazy. It's all opinion. MBDTF was a damn good album. I might turn it on now actually. Oh and Me Against the World > All Eyez On Me
Agree to disagree is all I got then. I don’t think any album they did is “head and shoulders better” than mbdtf. I think there’s definitely a discussion here
Na, if that's what he meant, there's no discussion to be had. The sum of Pac/Big would destroy MBDTF. I might sit down and make a Pac/Big greatest hits album playlist.
Case to be made for that, for sure. Opinion, though. I think All Eyez on Me is one of the best albums ever made. I know dick about ranker but I think this is a reasonable list. https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/best-hip-hop-albums
Fair enough I suppose. I’ll propose that if you take the sum of Kanye’s 3 best albums, it destroys what you would come up with
I just prefer the more thoughtful Pac than the mad at the world Pac. Everyone remembers Pac as the Death Row Pac and he was only on Death Row for less than a year before he died. I just prefer the more thought provoking Pac over the fuck the East Coast Pac. All Eyez on Me's production is amazing though.
Here's his greatest hits album, which may or may not be the best list. Kanye hasn't done one thing that is as good as Brenda's Got a Baby. 1. "Keep Ya Head Up" Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. I think you're nuts for thinking that. It's all opinion and you are obviously a bigger Kanye fan than I am so it's whatever. I'd take Pac and Big individually over Kanye, personally. But I'm a little older so we're talking personal eras here.
I like Trusty but its pretty obvious he is a Kanye fanatic and nothing will change his opinion on this.
I absolutely adore Pac and Big, if we’re talking greatest rappers of all time, they absolutely shit on Kanye, when we’re talking body of work, Kanye’s is in the upper echelon regardless of genre
I'm confused. They each shit on Kanye as GOAT's but Kanye's top 3 albums would be better than a compilation of Pac and Big's entire discography? That doesn't make sense.
They're right next to each other and yeah you can push it up some but any of those albums can make that claim.
There’s a difference here man. Nas imo is higher in the GOAT discussion than any of these guys when it comes to pure skill, yet, his albums are pretty dicey outside illmatic and stillmatic. The skill doesn’t always make the music
Aquemini is number 1 own my personal list. When I saw it that far down I immediately dismissed this list. That list has a heavy west coast lean as well
Debating who's better in music is silly IMO. It's like debating food, everyone has different tastes and preferences. But there's certain artists I have no problem saying they suck and someone should be ashamed if they are fans of theirs(like tekashi six nine)
Nas gets overrated bc of Illmatic imo. He's Ickey Woods of rap. And personally I'll take RTD, MATW, and All Eyez over whatever 3 Kanye albums you want to pick.
I've learned that it's not worth debating most the time. On stuff like this people dig their heels in because no one wants to be told the people they like suck. Now in terms of this current discussion, I think your claim is just wild. I love that album as much as the next guy, but to say one album is better than two all timer's discography's is sizzling hot.
I think that’s a bit of me misinterpreting wtx post and I think I rectified that. MBDTF is not better than the sum of their work but it holds steady on an album to album basis imo
