It's got everything to do with it took him 6 months to write Rap Devil, and now that the beef is "official", everyone will know if he waits that long to respond again.
I listen to Kamikaze pretty much daily since I do alot of driving for what I'm currently doing. Never really liked Eminem that much. Hated the goofy slim shady shit. And haven't really listened to much rap/hip hop other than the classics from my youth the past decade. Album is fucking incredible. I don't care if I've posted this before. It's fucking amazing. You know what awards or whatever he should win for this artistic, lyrical and musical masterpiece? All of them. Suck my dick. Really digging Vince Staples too.
Mgk's new album is absolute garbage. His lead track sounds auto tuned, and would be the type of song I'd listen to if I wanted to off myself. It's that depressing.
That's why I pmed you. I have been so busy I haven't had a chance to get back. I'll write you tonight.
All that “hype” turned into people laughing at MGK after Eminem absolutely buried him with Killshot. You really have to break down Killshot line by line to understand just how layered it is as a diss track. Or rap song in general, really.
Kinda gave up; I'm old and uncool so sticking with rock these days. Eminem is someone I want to hear everything he puts out though
You and I once had a discussion about Jay Z. For all the reasons I love Jigga I feel like Em represents the opposite. I respect the ability but for the most part I can’t get down with the substance
I just like clever wordplay. I agree with you it can become soulless when somebody's just rapping the dictionary though
Unless that person is Blackalicious, in which case, it's wildly entertaining every time I listen to that damn song.
I really liked Kamikaze just because it gave me the old school feel, and it was nice to hear him back with a little more aggression. The new CD isn’t bad, better than Revival for sure. It seems like the newer Em releases I have to let grow on me because it takes a couple listens to catch all the wordplay/schemes he does + just accept the fact it’s not going to be like The Eminem Show or something. I know he mentions fans saying this on the album, but I’d love one more release with 100% Dre beats. IMO some of the new era producers just don’t fit with Eminem. He’s still probably the best out there in terms of just rapping his ass of and fitting words together. Which is my favorite thing about rap personally.
Denzel Curry dropped an EP last night. if rapping ass off is your thing JID is absolute insanity. DiCaprio 2 is glorious
I really like 4 or 5 songs on the new album... I like Kamikaze better overall, but I love the Songs Godzilla, and Unaccomadating. Darkness is pretty good, and 1 or 2 others are ok. I like the album, but it's not my favorite by any means.
I’ll admit I consider Eminem the GOAT by a long shot, but I also haven’t loved every song he’s released in the last few years. This is probably his best release since Revival, maybe #2 to Kamikaze. I’ve listened once, but production is much better than recent releases IMO and lyrically/flow he keeps getting better and better somehow.
Revival, Kamikaze, MTBMB, MTBMB - B Sides. I think it’s confusing because MTBMB came out in January as a full album, then today B Sides came out under the same name and a full album but the January songs are also included it looks like. So I was considering this the 4th CD of the Revival to now era, which is what I tried to mean by saying “since Revival”, which IMO is the worst of the 4.
I'd just like to go back a little and point out that Em murdered MGK so bad that he changed the kind of music he puts out. (I kinda dig that "new" song though)
I always said my biggest issue with MGK was the fact he needed to decide between being a rapper or being Blink 182. I guess he made his decision.
Listened a couple times today while working, and definitely think overall the album is solid. Some of my favorite songs: Alfred’s Theme Gnat Higher These Demons Discombobulated Not that anyone in this thread cares about that list, but I’m a 32 year old that still listens to Eminem lol so don’t have too many other outlets to be a “Stan”
He's got so many great ones that this list changes all the time so stuff I've been listening to recently: Without Me Encore Stan Rap God Till I Collapse Never Enough Love Game Lose Yourself Demo Detroit vs. Everybody Killshot as a bonus, his verse on Forever
I feel like I’m going to need to look at every album and pick 2-4 songs then narrow it down to 10. I’ll report back…
