You have to feel sorry for them. They don’t have any proper rivals because it’s a nothing club that’s merely built on Arab slave and oil money. Imagine your cross-town club actively cheering for you to win the league title because they know how irrelevant it is if you win as opposed to their rival? Pretty sure SugarShaun had more fun rooting for Ajax in the champions league than he did those guys.
All the way to Kiev, To end up in defeat, Crying in the stands, And battered in the streets, Ramos injured Salah, Victims of it all, Sterling won the double, And the Scousers won f*ck all, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez, Allez... Am I to take the crying in the stands right after talking about losing the UCL final as a Hillsborough line and not about the lines right before it about losing the final?
All that oil money and those twats drink bud heavy. Hope they get roasted for this. It doesn’t surprise me at all.
I thought it was in response to grown men openly weeping and sending death threats anytime Salah gets knocked down
I was really hoping for a complete Liverpool trophy failure this season(before they were matched up with fucking Spurs) but City are just an embarrassing club.
Are you sure it’s not because Pool fans are always acting like the victims of some grand conspiracy to keep Liverpool from winning something?
Fan base known for persecution complex feels persecuted by song making fun of their persecution complex
United responded to the chants by imploring supporters to adhere to the demand of the United manager Sir Alex Ferguson on Friday that hostilities between the clubs should cease. A United spokesperson said: "The club deplore it. The manager has made the club's position very clear on this matter; it's now up to the fans to respect that."
I don’t see anything in there about Fergie saying the chant is about Hillsborough. And given the fact that the song is in fact not about Hillsborough, I don’t think you’ll find a quote from him saying it is.
To be a board of fans who have picked up clubs in the last 10-20 years, I really love how we act like we are English schoolboys who were picked on mercilessly by other children and people in our neighborhoods who are fans of rival clubs.
Ferguson, who has already appealed for a line to be drawn in the sand by supporters of both clubs, has offered Liverpool unqualified support. "It is going to be a very emotional day on Sunday and we will support them in every way we can," said Ferguson. "As a club we are totally supportive of Liverpool in the situation they are in. We understand what those families must have felt when they got that report. "I didn't hear it (on Saturday), but others did, particularly in the directors' box. (Chief executive) David Gill was disappointed." "I was disappointed to hear it. It is a minority. But in society there is a minority wanting to be heard."
This is one of those times where someone really shows their lack of understanding of a different culture. It's legitimately the equivalent of arguing, "Black people known for being welfare queens are upset about being called welfare queens."
Your link literally says the song started in response to Suarez getting an 8 match ban for being a racist, which was the season before the Hillsborough report came out. There’s no connection between Hillsborough and that chant. Also, I wasn’t a fan at the time of that ban, but I wouldn’t be shocked to find out that Liverpool fans whined and complained that the ban was unfair.
Honestly the song is bad because it makes fun of Salah getting hurt, which is shitty for professional athletes to sing about their colleague. But lol at trying to make it about Hillsborough.
In terms of inappropriate, it doesn’t come close to the “German Bombers” song that England fans chant to the Germans
They also make fun of a guy that almost died getting stabbed by a Roma fan last year and spent a good part of last year in a coma. The line is especially tasteless since a City fan got put in a coma at Schalke
Do you honestly think you're going to convince someone of something when he's currently refusing to admit a known fact?
That’s more ambiguous, and I doubt that’s what the players were referring to, but yeah I agree either way it’s shitty to sing about fans getting beat up. But victims of it all is quite clearly a reference to so many Liverpool fans always playing the victim.
I don't get why any Liverpool fan on here would care about the 96. Yeah, it's fucked up but none of you were fans/knew anyone and Liverpool fans have caused their share of damage. At least they're an incredibly passionate fan base, City fans can't sell out their stadium/cry about ticket prices then want daddy sheikh to keep investing hundreds of millions. There's a reason that Man U fans root for City results before Liverpool.
This is an incredibly poor take. All of us invest tons of time and our emotional capacity into the sports teams we follow and identify with. Just now charges are coming about to the people who were actually at fault for the tragedy when Liverpool fans were blamed. Watch the hillsborough documentary 30 for 30 did and you’ll know why it strikes a cord. Hopefully your fan base never has anything horrible like hillsborough, heysel or what happened in Turin happen to you but then you may understand.
