People always link these sort of articles on TI and then claim that they are losing subscribers because of Politics and SEC bias (even richer than politics). When pressed all of them still have cable and watch ESPN even if it is just the games. Meanwhile younger people that don't watch sports, which is probably ~50% of the population are cutting the cord and are streaming The Big Bang Theory now. Nobody is talking about them.
Too much good tv on to watch sports programming other than live sporting events I get more upset about when say Fox gets broadcasting rights, not because they lean right but because they're borderline incompetent as a live sports broadcaster
Good pod with Jim Miller on myth busting the political persecution complex. Little more in depth than what he touched on with Deitsch.
http://thebiglead.com/2017/05/09/sc6-michael-smith-jemele-hill-ratings-espn-sportscenter/ Basically SC6 ratings are off compared to 2016 version of SportsCenter at 6 PM, but so are PTI, so not sure what you can take from it. Won't stop Breitbart from gloating about it I am sure.
Don't hate them, but not big on them because I just wake up groggy. Almost never set out to take a nap. Occasionally will nod off while reading for a few minutes.
I take a nap 2-3 times a week at lunch. You can't go for more than 20-30 minutes or you will be foggy the rest of the day. Gotta get up when you body wakes you. If you go back to sleep you are toast.
I'm not big on naps either. It will be a last resort for me unless I'm trying to prove to Mr. Wilhelm how hard I work. In that case, I'll take a nap under my desk.
nah the 2 hour nap can be great. wake up, run errands, watch college football from like noon to 4, lay down for a bit, eat dinner, catch duck game at 7
I only hate them because 99% of the time when I feel like I need a nap, it's in the evening and taking one would make it impossible to get to sleep for the night at a reasonable hour.
If it's like a 30 min thing I feel good. If it is longer than that then I wake up feeling groggy and disoriented as fuck.
Sucks that the golden age of television coincided with the golden age of takes. Makes for a lotta tough choices.
They don't just get MNF with that deal. They also get unlimited highlights they can show throughout the year that help them chew up thousands of hours of television on a yearly basis. That article just glosses over that like it's irrelevant. Maybe they're paying too much, and it doesn't help that the NFL is taking the money from that deal and giving ESPN a pile of shit with the MNF games it has been stuck with in recent years. Taking the NFL away from the network is probably suicide, though.
Yea I knew all of that prior to formulating my opinion. Also not advocating for "taking the NFL away from the network". I said the deal is bad.
I imagine the article is assuming they could still have an NFL deal in place. Just without the MNF piece which is a massive money waste.
