What's funny about that. You might not like arguing with Ark but I can't recall seeing him say he didn't know much about something
it isn't about not being an expert on whatever shit you are arguing on the internet. It is the indignant and inane manner Dbl utilizes that is so noteworthy.
What did I argue? I said I was surprised about something and admitted I didn't know anything about it. I don't pretend to be an expert on things I don't know about.

Missed the TD in the Vikings - Saints game. Guess I will just wait until the 11 PM Sportscenter to check it out
Probably employees who really like sports, aren't anti-social, and have had to endure a lot of morale-destroying measures in the name of cost savings over the past few years
Good point, I bet ESPN's set up sucked in comparison to Billy the 23 year old assistant cameraman's party
If I worked for ESPN I would damn well want them to have a super bowl party that I could attend. And I would be extra salty if the reason it was cut out was because they broke the bank on a halftime show no one gave a fuck about.
Stories came out last week that ESPN has been in contact with Dan Patrick about coming back. Would be really surprised if it happened, but thought it was interesting.
The story doesn't even make sense. But it's the perfect story to lament for podcasts for the, "ESPN is too liberal" and "ESPN is failing." Hell, it might even be a rumor in Bristol. ESPN is a billion dollar company. The Super Bowl party in Bristol costs, what, $25K for food, drinks, and a venue (assuming it's not on the campus)? Do you think you can afford a Kendrick Lamar concert for that kind of money? Four years ago, his fee was five times that. And he's only become more popular since then. And this doesn't even account for the concert setup, the TV production costs, etc. Not to mention, these things wouldn't even come out of the same budgets. The Bristol office social activity budget may have been cut, but it's definitely not being cut to accommodate TV production costs related to the CFB Playoff. That's asinine.
I don’t disagree with the sentiment but you are a little confused. ESPN used to host a star studded super bowl party in the host city that was a marketing vehicle. Here is an article from a few years ago about the party: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life...n-thicke-rocks-espn-super-bowl-party/5101089/ Here is the original story from SBJ that makes more sense: https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2017/08/28/Media/ESPN-SB-Party.aspx
Ha, thanks for clarifying. it makes way more sense that they're talking about a Super Bowl host site instead of some sort of Bristol-based party. I still have extreme doubts that it was a one-for-one trade-off like described but at least the budget numbers themselves would be close.
I guarantee ESPN Super Bowl parties in the past reached at least mid-six figures. If they had music, that shit was over a mil.
Hard hitting pieces like this should help right the ship: Baxter Holmes The NBA's secret wine society The inside-the-bottle story of the intense love affair between NBA stars and the gilded grape.
They did one earlier this season about the NBA's obsession with PB&J sandwiches and broke down team by team and sometimes even by player what type of peanut butter and jelly was preferred.
