I can't watch MNF with Boog so their ratings would increase by at least one viewer if this move is made

This would be a nice reward for enduring Booger and gang these last couple of years.

ESPN has wandered through the desert for years in search of a cure for its “Monday Night Football” product, and for years the oasis on the end of that horizon has been Peyton Manning.

And no matter how far the Worldwide Leader wanders, that oasis never gets any closer.

After swinging and whiffing at prying Tony Romo away from CBS — only to see him sign a market-busting $180 million annual contract — ESPN made yet another run at Manning as part of a dream team that would pair him with Al Michaels.

New York Post, who has been on the forefront of the entire story.

Manning has maintained an informal relationship with ESPN since retiring after the 2015 season, hosting a pair of ESPN+ shows for the company, but Marchand reports Manning is not interested in committing himself to a weekly schedule from August through January.

It’s the same reasoning Manning has turned down overtures from CBS and an untold number of NFL teams.

Is there a reason why espn doesn't run an alternate type of MNF broadcast simultaneously on espn2?

    Seems like something worth trying

ESPN landing on Booger and Witten two years ago with all the options they had available is incredible.

If they're willing to pay this kind of money, go get Nessler back from CBS and pair him with Blackledge again on MNF. It's the best CFB team of the last few decades.

"his quarterback has been good on TV let's try witten" was probably the logic for witten. There's no excuse for booger unless he thinks it's an unpaid internship

He should be sent back to announcing flying Walenda stunts and motor cycle jumps on NYE.

I can’t stand the over annunciations and the constant yelling.

used to love him, but I'm ready for Michaels to retire.

a guy already on the ESPN payroll that I thought could be interesting for MNF play-by-play is Matt Vasgersian.

I think I would hate that. Vasgersian really needs the right people around him to be good, IMO. He's funny and entertaining, but he's a curmudgeon about a lot of stuff and it gets worse if he's surrounded by like-minded people. Or maybe I just watch too much Hot Stove on MLBN when he's with Harold Reynolds.

see I think that works if you pair him with an excitable "football guy" former player doing color.

I loved Vasgersian when he was on MLB Central as a host because the people around him (Shehadi and DeRosa) are so positive and energetic that it was a good mix and was funny. I think that works better in the studio than the booth, though. I just think Vasgersian is too into "soap box" stuff a lot of times as an announcer. It could work with the right guy next to him, but I'm not sure he's any better there than even someone like Tessitore.

Again, though, I'm biased there because I don't really enjoy Vasgersian with ARod/Mendoza, or on some of his MLBN stuff.

Fowler would be better than Steve Levy and the guys from their debate shows. Makes some sense as a stopgap crew in a season that will likely be bizarre.

Theyre basically just trying to find a way to get to Drew Brees. They really ought to target Burkhardt or Ian Eagle.

Levy was a tough listen in every CFB game I heard from him. Maybe the NFL will give him more latitude to freestyle which he’s better at honestly due to its nature. I personally think he’s trash and in over his head. I can believe they didn’t pay Romo and put someone with him that was a pure play by play guy.
