The fact that 9 out of the 12 clubs are located in London, Manchester, Madrid or Milan is just gross.
I will continue to spend half the match trying to find a shitty stream, and the other half closing all the ads that pop up on screen. Just to prove a point with my $50
Are all the Super League games between English squads derbies now? Or do we get to pick new rivals? Fuck... um... Inter
Prettt sure the FA would be banishing the clubs so not sure that little trick is as smart as it sounds.
the UK needs to negotiate post Brexit trade deals. Going after influential American billionaires, UAE royalty and one of Putin’s best friends, after you already pissed off the Saudi Arabian royal family last year by refusing to let them buy Newcastle, doesn’t seem to be in the governments best interests. You also wouldn’t be able to find brits rich enough to buy all of these clubs. Just isn’t feasible. Implementing the German model in the 80s or 90s would have been possible. They let the greed creep in far too much over the last 20 years to be able to do it now.
Bayern has to clear it through the other Bundesliga teams and their federation to ensure they’d remain the top of German feeder system.
Any guesses on what Liverpool does tomorrow (if anything)? They have a few lifelong LFC fans in their squad, Klopp was against the move. I wouldn't put it past the players/staff to make some sort of statement like their badges covered or something
I have to assume Amazon is going to have the rights to these games. It’s not like people will boycott Amazon for such a thing, so really it’s a no lose situation for them.
I imagine determining the five teams that rotate every year being similar to South Park, when Cartman, Kyle and Stan held auditions to replace Kenny.
Maybe I’m just naive but I can’t see this actually happening. Everyone including the media, other clubs, leagues, FAs, players (at least some so far), and fans seem to be strongly against it, and the super league needs these things to some degree to be successful.
This is going to put players in a very awkward position if FIFA follows through and won’t let any players playing in the super league participate with their national teams
I think you're underestimating how much these greedy fucks want more money. They will ruin everything about football just to make a billion dollars. Then they will all get out and watch it crash to the ground.
From the players perspective I’d imagine a ton of them will be tempted by considerably more in wages and less matches. We’ve seen the mercenary thing happen for years now.
Yeah, I don't think SL teams will have trouble finding players, even if they can't play for national teams.
The fact that JP Morgan confirmed its involvement has me thinking this is too far down the road to pull back.
you think fifa is going to take a major loss in TV revenue that would come from banning Ronaldo, messi and a large majority of the stars from all the major teams to do something that doesn’t actually benefit them at all? They can say things now but fifa only cares about the money fifa makes. 0 chance they would do that.
So the super league kills the once a decade when some small team jumps up and qualifies for the champions league then gets drubbed in the group stages and gives a parachute to some teams that have a bad year. While this seems like a solution to a problem no one was asking for, people seem overly upset by the change. Were people this pissed when the European cup became the champions league?
I’m not sure the big names matter much to the WC or FIFA. The only names you provided are probably going into their last cup. You just find the next guy/ story and keep going. I think fifa is more concerned about being the ones in charge and they probably see this super league as a threat to that. That said if the $ is right, they’ll go along
