I believe Sewell is really good, but I feel like I haven’t seen the Orlando pace comparisons anywhere but here
Yeah bc its super easy to just elevate your skill level and play better. Lindstrom has been good coming off injury Mcgary is bad, maybe he'll be better at G Carpenter is avg Matthews is avg Not to mention we have like the 4th highest OL salary cap in the league since we have 3 1st round picks. Just saying we have way more pressing needs than an OL, no matter how good he may be. Drafting the BPA isnt a terrible idea but we're so far behind the 8 ball.
You'll do much better drafting a guy in the 3rd from No Where Directional State like Thomas did. That's a great plan
Still would rather take Fields or Wilson. A good mobile QB can alleviate some of the pressure of a shitty line.
Counterpoint: Matt Ryan (his salary notwithstanding) is not the Falcons problem. We shore up the line and make the defense serviceable and we’re a contender again
Bc one OT isn't gonna fix us, and our D is a bigger problem. Agree that Ryan isn't that bad, but he's only got a few years left and we could very well be in the market for a QB next season. We prob won't get another chance anytime soon to draft a highly rated QB and getting a QB in free agency is tough. If we cant get a QB, we need to trade back for more picks. If it was a top DT or DE for our Def then I'd be fine with it. To me picking Sewell is the worst of the options. But at the end of the day we chould be getting a stud OT so guess its not that bad.
I guess I am in the minority here but I would love to take Fields if he is there at 4. I think him in that Arthur Smith offense could be dangerous.
Ehh there are all kinds of clips of him going through progressions. He holds the ball too long, thats the main concern and should be one of the only ones
The biggest issue for me is that he did this at Ohio St when he had more time in the pocket than pretty much every other QB in the country
Well their offense kind of made him hold onto it long, but he also did the same thing when we had him as a freshman so I think its a legit concern. I think the progression talk sounds way too familiar with another black QB. Happens every year, but it never gets brought up with white QB's
Clemson seemed to blitz him pretty frequently and he just nailed dimes to his WRs right before getting hit. That is what impressed me the most, but I do agree that he probably won't be able to do that without a decent O-Line.
Correct. He tended to fold as the pocket moved regardless if it was collapsing or he needed to step up when he was at UGA but true freshman.
Our Dawg fans have a lot of unresolved feelings about Justin Fields. These guy would rather trade down and take some edge rusher out of Oberlin than go to therapy
Fwiw Ive been team draft Fields or if he is gone Sewell I just think he has a significant learning curve
This is what happens when I don't preface every post with "even as Georgia fan" when discussing Fields. This is on me, guys.
i agree. i think one more year with matt is the right call. If anyone can be a pro about such an awkward situation, it's Matt Ryan.
I would not be upset if we drafted Fields. I just want to make that clear. I would prefer Sewell or trade back since we are tied to Matt Ryan/his contract and we have an awful cap situation. Those are 1a and 1b for me.
Kiper’s new mock has us trading up to 2 to take Zack Wilson. Trading away our first and seconds plus a couple more in future drafts.
Fun tidbit! We have 39 players signed to contracts right now. By far the fewest in the league. Tampa is second at 44. yes we are clearly in position to trade for a player who won’t play this year
if Rich McKay wanted the Mormon he should not have been reckless having the organization out there trying to win games beyond October 1.
I get why he transferred and blame Kirby more the Fields. I like to think I'm pretty unbiased in that he's just another OSU QB that won't do much in the league. Think Wilson is the 2nd best QB. And the more draft pics we have over the next 2 or 3 years the better. 1. Wilson 2. Trade back 3. Sewell 4. Chase/DeVonta/Waddle
Trading back and then picking a RB would be the most Falcons thing ever. Truly riding for the Brand there
