I've been keeping him as my Flex player in FF because I figured he'd have a big game eventually. It took two other WRs being out for him to finally get the targets he deserves (and he also is looking a lot more comfortable in the offense).
I don't think it's possible to get any pass catcher heavily involved in this offense unless you're playing a team like the Jets imo.
My favorite Pitts play of the game was Matt Ryan under throwing him by ten yards on that 45 yard catch. It’s (even more) painful to watch Ryan go downfield these days.
Hate hearing on sports talk radio that people think this team is good after struggling against really bad teams. The team isn't good, it's just that the schedule sucks.
I hate that his contract is so ridiculous. For the obvious reasons, of course, but also because he has been a good QB for us and I'd like to see him be able to go somewhere (in exchange for plenty of capital to get this OL and D in shape here) that he might actually be able to win something of significance before the sun sets completely on his career.
They want to believe so badly we aren’t bad, but the ones who are leading that narrative are spending money to go to games. We’re kind of in a shit spot. We have enough talent to be competitive, but zero depth really anywhere. We have a new head coach that has promise, wants to prove he deserves this job, needs to build a rapport with the team and it’s hard to do that while also tanking. We also have shitty attendance and our owners need to make money and not lose another year of revenue. Ryan’s contract fucked us and it’s our own fault for making the deal. We should have taken this year to completely tear it down to the studs and rebuilt from nothing. We’re not going to have a ton of money next year either, so you might as well try and develop young talent, surrounded by serviceable veterans that are proven leaders who are familiar with the coaching staff to help build back the right way.
I don't understand guys rooting for us to tank this year. Ultimately the draft is a crap shoot and there aren't even going to be any good quarterbacks this year to take in the top 5 if we do end up tanking. I would much rather this team gut it out and try to make some noise than tank for the number 7 pick and draft some lineman that may or may not be worth a damn. We have a whole new staff and need positive momentum going forward.
Same, if this was clearly going to be Quinn's last year again or this is Smith's 3rd season after he's done nothing but be mediocre I'd root for a better draft pick. Instead I'd like to see our brand new coaching staff and young guys like Pitts actually find their footing. I don't care if it's against the shittier teams early on as long as they're better by the end of the season. It's incredibly unlikely we will get the playoffs so we'll probably get a better draft pick than the rest of the NFC South.
I'm not against us doing well, I would just still like to get a high draft pick because it's more likely to result in a more talented player. Ideally we would be very competitive in every game and end the season with a poor record and high draft pick while feeling good about the team and like we are going to be able to turn that corner next year.
If we aren't going to draft a QB next year because the class isn't as great, I don't really see a huge difference in drafting 4th vs 10th in the first round.
For me at least, it's mostly tongue in cheek, just coming off the jaded seasons of 2018 and 2019 where 3 straight and 4 straight wins to end the year after we were already out of it, dropped us from top 5 picks to the mid teens. Then last year we were 1 win away from top 3 pick and perhaps taking the next gen QB. I do agree though that it was different when we were wanting the coach and GM gone. I'd be totally fine if we won a couple late games this year and built some momentum heading into 2022
Hell I was rooting for it harder than anyone when i wanted TD and Quinn gone. Plus we had the possibility last year of drafting a quarterback. Rooting for a tank this year just feels a little too defeatist for me.
It’s defeatist, but unlike other professional leagues, you aren’t rebuilding a team through FA in the NFL. It’s all about hitting your draft picks, and if you aren’t competing for a title in the next 3-5 years, the more of them you have and the higher they are, the better.
I’d much rather see us beat bad teams and show fight against good teams. We are 6 weeks in to college and unless we are getting thibedeuox (however tf you spell that), I don’t think there is anyone worth tanking for. We should be focusing on building chemistry with a new staff, showing the Will to win, and getting talented young players plenty of reps.
It really doesn’t matter whether we pick 3 or 13 until we are out of salary cap hell IMO. I mean I think we are still taking a hit for Desmond Trufant I hope we show offensive progress this year, we become proficient at wide zone and play action stuff and Pitts / Ridley they can be an elite duo. and then I hope we go Dallas/Carolina and just draft entirely defensive players
If that wasn't tipped I expected the camera to pan back and show his arm fully out of socket or something. Nope, just a horrendous duck
What were the announcers seeing there that could have possibly have been OPI? I saw nothing that even remotely looked like that.
We can’t lose out right so I guess we might as well win with this shitty schedule we got. Wish the NFL had punished us with a tougher schedule.
Guessing this is all mental stuff he's dealing with since he played last week. Hope he gets his head sorted out, this would be a bigger deal if we didn't draft Pitts at least.
Cordarelle been a spark all season so naturally, we're feeding Davis today. Don't think CP has even been on the field
