In a 3 week period we lost to a rookie QB in his first start, a no name rookie QB/guy who didn’t know his teams play calls or snap counts at home without their best player, and a 1 win team with a QB that hadnt played in a year. The wheels are off.
I completely misremembered that, but I definitely recall a lot of "Blank isn't going to fire Quinn" posts on social media. Blank is overly loyal but there's no way he can't see this as anything but a failure. Quinn magically got them to a Superbowl and another playoff run the year after which bought him a lot of good will, whereas Smith hasn't done shit.
Yeah they fired Quinn very early in to the season. I realistically don't expect them to get rid of Smith this soon, and I'm not sure how it looks for prospective head coaches to go to a team that doesn't let a guy coach the majority the season (I doubt it factors much, if it all) but yeah bringing him back would be malpractice. We were probably a better team his first year than we are now.
They won’t fire him unless the team craters. They’ll point to some late season wins that ruin their draft positioning as proof that he’s building in the right direction. Have you heard this story before?
The team IS cratering, this sounds like the exact same thing we all said during the end of Quinn's tenure as there were those late season wins and building blocks to work on, eventually Blank pulled the trigger. Smith probably keeps his job if they somehow win a playoff game, but this team isn't beating New Orleans twice I bet to win the division.
Can we please just get someone from the Shanahan tree? Guarantee you pitts, London, and bijan would be putting up elite numbers
I just watched Dan orlovsky talk about the bills offense and we basically have the same problems with a less talented qb. Refusing to design plays for your best player. Constantly running plays that require everyone to execute perfectly or they fail.
It sucks to feel like we just continue to throw seasons away year after year with no end in site. We have a badass stadium that I have zero desire to visit.
They fired Quinn after an 0-5 start, they ran a PR blitz following the season before to justify their decision to keep him.
That 4th down play call was about as bad as it gets. Why are we running a slow developing option when everyone in there knows it’s a run?
Look what happens when you spread the ball around to your 1st round TE, 1st round WR, and 1st round RB.
I'll probably eat my words in the second half, but I'm glad Ridder is in now. Smartly taking what the Saints are giving him with running, just has to not fumble.
Nielsen seems competent for sure. Would like to get him a legit edge player at some point. Still wish we had taken a flyer on Chase Young
Just unreal. We have a terrible qb so naturally we devise a play where he throws deep to van Jefferson of all people.
At this point I think Arthur is just trying to get fired. What the fuck are you even doing, run the ball
Ridder and the scheme both suck. At no point in any game should he be throwing a pass like that to Van Jefferson
