I was just reminded of this story. My wifes grandmother is big into cross stitch and makes some pretty cool stuff usually. She gives my wife a her gift and she opens it to reveal a huge cross stitch of some random song birds. She proceeds to tell us how it took her a year to do and can't wait to see it up in our new house. Now, it wasn't exactly my or my wife's ideal style for the house, but she worked hard on it and we weren't about to say anything but it was a very thoughtful gift. Anyways, my wife's uncle who is a bit weird, just blurted out "do you even like birds? Why the birds?" This just really upset his mom, understandably. Now we have to place the this huge bird thing on our wall, to prove the uncle wrong.
Fuck the idiot uncle. Do it for the sweet old granny who spent one of her last years on it. You'll be taking it down soon enough.
This is more just stupid but fits her pattern My SIL is having her first baby and her MIL is planning the baby shower. She books the venue and the date and then calls my MIL to tell her. My MIL calls my wife to tell her and says it May 5th which is Mother’s Day. Wife calls me and gets my kid upset because she’d be gone on Mother’s Day. It took me all of 10 seconds to google and tell her it’s the week before Mother’s Day.
Quick trip home before I move to Texas for 6 months. My dad and my brother are talking on the phone to each other while bro is on his motorcycle and we're all in a car on the freeway and neither can hear the other so they're both shouting and I'm going to kill them
Sister been planning on coming to our place for Easter weekend. We bought lots of food in preparation for 4 extra mouths to feed and eggs and all Easter stuff Last night my sister texts my wife saying she has an upset stomach, so they are waiting till morning to make the trip Now this morning she says she is dealing with shit, to do with the 14 y/o boy or something and they arnt coming at all I'm kinda relieved because I loath my sister a bit, but what the fuck I am gunna have lots of extra food
In blountville tn at inlaws. It is never fun here but the fact it is super wet out a d cold makes it even more miserable. Also, there are 5 kids(more coming) under 8 here.
My family from San Diego are visiting Ohio this weekend for Easter, first time my BIL and nephews have been. Feel sorry for them, the weather is absolutely terrible and the options in west central Ohio for fun are limited.
No worries. It’s just going to reinforce their preconceived notions of how terrible Ohio is. Frankly, they’re right.
In route to Summerdale, AL to spend the weekend meeting the gf’s extended family and celebrate the resurrection of christ our lord. No cable
The only thing I could muster were the Ohio caverns and yellow springs, Glen Helen. They’re like an hour and a half away from all that, really close to Indiana. They’ve got to be miserable lol.
If I was going to escape I would be heading to Asheville. Alas there is no escaping on this visit. Also, the battery for my weed pen died last night.
This is the first time I ever remember this much family at my dad's house for anything ever. Like 6 adults and 2 kids Dad's Aunt: I'm so sick of them complaining about Donald Trump and jobs. Dad: I ain't got no use for the son of a bitch. My job was built around US Military contracts and where did it go? ( His company and nice job shut the plant down and moved to Canada.) Cousin: Me: *walks out the door laughing* can hear voices getting louder.
Update: a week after this transpired and she’s traveled back to Omaha, everyone had pleaded with her to ease off the drink, she got an aggravated DUI in Omaha on a Sunday morning at 11am. Cops somehow missed the half full bottle of vodka in her back seat. My brother was in town taking care of my old man, and had to deal with the fallout. She’s definitely going to jail for a while, with likely work release or house arrest because there isn’t enough room at the clink currently. She’s likely to move down here to AZ as she will lose her license for 5-7 years or some shit, and her parents will be driving her around well into her 30’s because they’re enablers and she’s a fucking idiot. Going to her mom’s house today for dinner. They’re great people but they refuse to look at this situation objectively. And my SIL has come to the realization that she can’t talk to them about it anymore because they just don’t get it. Until she kills someone by drunk driving.
So this is your brother’s wife’s younger sister? Are y’all a pretty close family? I feel like I know my brother’s in laws decently well but have never gone to their place for dinner. Unless I’m reading this wrong
Correct. They’ve been together for 20 years, since high school, and I’ve been around their family ever since. I’d work occasionally for her mom, her step father was a teacher at my high school. Her folks live down here and I see them regularly, usually have dinner every Monday with the family. Again, great folks. I could see it being strange to some, but it ultimately just worked out that way. They’re good folks. Oh we’re well aware. I’m convinced she has a personality disorder on top of the alcoholism and idiocy. She’s just... dull. On top of her other problems.
Well just got a call from my uncle, he got a "secret" call from said 14 year old nephew Who said he has never seen his mom like this. Apparently the truth is she broke up with her boyfriend on Friday and has been on some kind of rampage ever since. Granted, I take a 14 yr olds side if the story with a grain of salt, but yea
I'm getting married in a month; small courthouse thing so the fiancee and I are picking out a restaurant to go to dinner to after the wedding. Future Mrs Delta's wedding contingent is largely vegetarian so we needed to find someplace that they'll actually have something to eat other than "side salad" but will still be acceptable to my dad who eats like a 7 year old. So we finally find a place withplenty of veggie entrees but also has good meat options (duck, salmon, several pork entrees, veal, etc). Send my fam the restaurant info and in less than half an hour my mother calls me saying "don't be mad but..." And apparently despite the mains, the sides are simply not dad friendly. So I got to tell my mother that my dad can suck it up for one night cuz it's not his fucking wedding. Fully prepared for my dad to have a hissy fit on the day and we finally have the showdown that's been brewing for a decade now.
Sorry WhiskeyDelta , I feel your pain but I can’t stop laughing because your dad can’t pair what will probably be an amazing veal with mozzarella sticks
Never posted it but my father in law is the same way and straight up refused to eat at our rehearsal dinner. We emailed them the menu beforehand but he wouldn’t eat anything. They had burgers and fries and everything but he dug his heels in and sat there like a child not eating because it wasn’t fast food. Laughed my ass off.
