He didn’t want it because it was a grass fed angus burger with arugula on it. Anything other than fast food is just too much for him and he won’t eat it. My mother in law took him to a gas station on the way back to their hotel after dinner and he got some hot dogs and Zapp’s chips. Edit: On a side note he’s a helluva cook.
Boomers are the worst fucking people. I can’t imagine being so damn self centered you can’t eat your potatoes a different way for one night.
Not necessarily a Boomer thing. There are some people who just have to gripe if things aren't their way or even if they are their way. These people have issues of their own that they refuse to face, so they make everyone else as miserable as they are as a defense mechanism.
Liked times a million. Going through these issues right now with my wife's side of the family. My SIL expects her parents to see the grandkids once every couple of days then gets mad when they don't ask to come over. I saw my grand parents twice a year so I absolutely don't comprehend. Expectations are off for everyone. I just take my collie and step son outside to play when all the bitching starts. Although, I don't think my FIL disappears a lot because he can't stand his wife. Whenever I go help him with stuff, all he does is bitch about my MIL.
It's my (non-blood) uncle. He can be absolutely miserable to be around. Funny thing is that he's the best of his brothers (four total).
Currently living with my in-laws while our house is being built and my FIL is MAGA so I should be able to contribute a good amount here
Could go in the stupid shit thread, but applies here too. Yesterday my wife brought up her annual tradition (we switch off Thanksgiving/Christmas with her/my parents) of requesting to pack up our 3 kids and go stay with her parents for thanksgiving....who live 10 minutes away. Like every other year, I told her she’s free to go, and I will be enjoying sleeping in my own bed.
Downy in law lmao sheesh. In-laws are traveling to visit for Christmas, thankfully they're getting a hotel. A few months ago my mother-in-law casually sent the text "would you guys want to anoint the munchkin with holy water when we are back to visit?" She was visibly pissed when my wife told her that if we did baptize our kid, it would likely be a small private ceremony -- so this was her way of trying to push us to do something so she could be involved. Anyway should be a fun christmas.
More or less, but they're coming to out to Seattle for Thanksgiving this year. We shall see. It's really when they're around their MAGA friends and the booze starts flowing that they really let the words fly
My parents have begun a tradition of going on a cruise over Thanksgiving and my wife's family usually travels to see extended family, so for the second time in 3 years I have a Thanksgiving alone with my wife and kid. Going to be fantastic. #humblebrag #blessed
I’m hearing the likes of Jeff Sessions, Richard Spencer, and Ben Shapiro are also giving Boo MFer! their endorsement
Burying my son Chennis alive with his great grandpappy to send a message that Boom’s parenting is problematic
My brother is doing this right now. His in-laws flew out this week since Thanksgiving was too expensive and rented a house. They are all staying together when his home is five minutes away. I just don't get it.
Said cousin is less of a shit show 2 years later, but he’s not out of the woods just yet. He got a DUI in 2018, and just got done with his court appearances and got his breathalyzer removed from his car. He was doing a little bit better, but the last couple times I’ve seen him in public, he’s been pretty bombed so I think he may be back on his bullshit. He’s entering his late 20’s and is reminding me of friends who refuse to let the full time partying go. We’re doing Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant this year, then going back to his parents place after. I spent Thanksgiving with my brother in LA last year and skipped out on the family gathering, but from what I understand he just showed up stoned and didn’t drink a lot, so maybe he’s making some slight progress.
My mom's guilty pleasure is edibles that I always bring back to her. She won't tell anyone, though. I'm sure there will be more while they're out here.
My wife’s brother and sister also think it’s normal. I forgot to add that with kids, it comes out to 8 adults and 7 kids in one house. It ain’t happening.
I’ve gotten my mom to start using CBD for joint pain and muscle relief. I think THC is still a bridge too far for the time being, though.
First person I ever smoked with was my uncle and it is honestly a memory I hold near and dear to my heart
Did an early Xmas again this year. Her brother has some complex about being around the water. Every time we took him to the beach, he’d wear cloth shorts over the top of his board shorts, get in for 5 minutes, then sprint to the restroom to change into pants. He kept budgeting an extra 1/2hr to a full hr into our schedule to “deal with the wet clothes.” Missed out on multiple good dive opportunities because he refused to deviate from his routine and just stand in the sun for 3 minutes to dry. Honestly it was kind of fascinating, I’ve never been anyone who acts like that. He brought more clothes to the beach than those people who swim in full body sun guards. Incredible.
