Let me preface this by saying I haven’t played fantasy baseball in many years but I thought I’d give it a chance again this year to give me something to mess around with.

My pitching staff is pretty stacked, Sale, Verlander, Snell, Castillo, Tanaka, Hamels, Gonzales...and Yu fucking Darvish. Is Yu worth even rostering at this point? Thinking I could pick up Max Fried or Jordan Hicks, someone with some damn upside.

Given your starters I would absolutely drop Yu for Hicks :twocents:

I'm not sure what kind of league has Jordan Hicks on the waiver wire, but if saves are a category I think you can easily drop Yu for him right now in a league that shallow.

It’s an Espn random free league, I’m sure half the people have dropped out already. And no saves aren’t a category, it’s a point based system and I think you get 5 points for a win or a save. Starters rack up more points due to more SO’s, but it probably evens out with RP’s getting more work.

Currently in 1st by 5 games in my dynasty league, 2nd in my re draft. Both $100 leagues. It's early but feeling good about paying for some football buy ins with my work this summer. Dynasty league has been really slow to make pick ups. Nabbed Brandon Lowe, Christian Walker, Vogelbach and Brasier off FA early, and this team has Yelich :yousoright:

Redraft, traded away Villar for Lowe and Jordan Hicks. 3 saves for Hicks I think last week. Team already has Yelich, Machado and Acuna, and Trea Turner/Aaron Hicks on the shelf :yousoright:

NFBC squad keeps getting hammered with injuries. I've been able to maintain my pts rating around 50, no one category is running away from me completely, but I've spent from FAAB heavily. Down to 253 for ROS after pick ups this week. It's been money well spent (Christian Walker, Clint Frazier, Max Fried and Hector Neris) but getting a full weekly roster together has been a struggle. This week added Raimel Tapia (88), Daniel Robertson (11) and Chris Bassit (1). Seems like Tapia is beginning to take over the regular OF spot from Desmond, and with a full 7 games @ MIL and vs ARI I'm hoping he plays 5 games (6 RHPs projected). Similar deal with Robertson, Rays have 7 games this week (2 vs LHPs) and given their injuries just hoping for regular PT. This week's lineup:

    C, Narvaez, Barnes
    1B Goldy
    2B Odor
    SS Ahmed
    3B Suarez
OF Soto, Cain, Goodrum, Tapia, Laureano
    CI Walker
    MI Robertson
    UT Smoak
SP Marquez, Buehler, Morton, Fried, Caleb Smith, Bassit
    RP Giles, Colome, Neris

Reserves include injured Turner, Aaron Hicks, Frazier, Eloy and Sano. Just trying to stay competitive and maybe when all my dudes are back I can ascend up the leaderboard a bit

Thoughts on Paddack ROS? Got offered him for Nelson Cruz.

Worried about getting shut down early.

Dynasty or this season? I’ve heard that they may skip a start or two here and there and he’s definitely got a pitch count. If it’s a redraft, I’d have to consider hitting depth. Dynasty would be a no brainer. He’s got DeGrom stuff.

His fastball command is unreal, 28% CSW rate is nice.

But you have to figure that he gets no more than 125 more innings. I think you're going to see a lot of Cal Quantrill and Logan Allen spot starts to try to skip him in the rotation to allow him to stay up with the club, but limit his innings. So like jplaYa said, redraft = yes, dynasty = hell no.

Soto to the 10-day IL :killme:

I'm planning on dropping Ahmed for an OFer. He's been a solid fill in actually, but with 7 home games for the Rockies just gonna shove Hampson in there and hope for the best. They play 4 lefties this week, which isnt good for Tapia, but Coors is Coors and they are on the roster :idk:

Waiver wire features Danny Santana, Thames, Melky Cabrera, Steven Duggar, Odubel Herrera. Kind of like Herrera as the best option. Actually have made gains in the standings thanks to my pitching, but I need some of these guys off the IL soon ...

Good news is my pitching staff sets up amazingly next week. Buehler, Caleb Smith, Fried and Morton all with two-start weeks. BP has been sneaky good racking up saves. I have Montas on my bench and picking up another RP for the week, Sean Kelly, Ryan Pressly and Trevor May are all out there. Like Pressly's set up with a 7 game home schedule vs KC & TX ...

Idk what's going in with him. No real reason given for him going back to IL. Obviously it's his shoulder but no new injury from what I've heard.

Trade away Machado for David Price in a 12 team standard H2H? I am starting Chapman and Trea Turner already. Have a pretty good staff I feel but very up and down so far: Berrios, Wheeler, Caleb Smith, German, Hamels. 7th SP right now is Musgrove, or subbing in Leclerc and hoping for a save ...

Nothing long term, back up to Realmuto in dynatsy, 2nd catcher in NFBC after Austin Barnes hit the DL, and primary catcher in a league where I'm streaming. Baltimore has had some great weekly schedules recently vs lots of lefties ...

The catching position seems really thin this year in my AL only league. It seems like the twins have 3 of the better catcher eligible players

You think Astudillo will stick with the squad now that Sano and Cruz are back? Saw they are starting Marwin at 2B today, happy to see that cause I'm hoping him and Sano both play everyday most of the time ...

Which is helpful since the rest of my god damned team is terrible or hurt.

I traded away Escy last year in my dynatsy for Luis Urias. I was already stashing Polanco (who is the GOAT) and have Eugenio Suarez on this team. Wasnt sure if he would keep things up, but he looks like an above average regular for the foreseeable future. Man, the Twins traded away him and Ryan Pressley last year and haven't missed a beat. Stupid good roster right now ...

Probably because of injuries at some point but garver is really hurting his playing time. Nobody knows on Sano, he either looks like dog shit or a 50 home run hitter depending on the at bat. I still like his upside though

You'd have to think he's still locked in vs lefties at 1B. But vs a righty last night Marwin moved over there. As long as he's at the top side of the platoon I'm good with it ...

Pulled a couple trades this week. $100 Dynasty league that I am just crushing with a 15 game lead over 2nd place, dealt Jazz Chisholm and Christian Walker to receive Jose Abreu. He'll be my corner IF after Rizzo, plus Vogelbach in reserve. $100 redraft, same guy kept floating me stuff for Zach Wheeler, finally accepted a deal for Eloy straight up. Don't even have a spot for him really, currently starting Yelich, Acuna, Hicks and Andrus at UTIL. but Hicks has been slow out of the gates and I have my SBs covered, so I think I will start Eloy over him next week. Remaining SPs, Berrios, Price, Hamels, Caleb Smith, Domingo German, Musgrove, with Alcantara and the newly called up Zach Gallen filling out the bench ...

Sitting in 5th at the break. Seems like half of my team has come from the waiver wire.

    C:Sanchez
    1b:Goldy/Hosmer/Vogelbach
    2b:McNeil/Gordon
    SS:Escobar
    3b:Machado
    OF: Dahl/Franmil/Eloy/J upton

    SP: Corbin/Minor/Chirinos/Paddack/Giolito/E Rod/Stroman
    RP: Romo/Holland/Robles

    DL: Hamels/Correa

Worst categories are SB and WHIP. Only categories I'm leading are HR/RBIs. May end up streaming like crazy the last couple months.
