Rules: head-to-head (we did roto but the people that sucked were pussies and had it changed back), categories: avg, bb, HR, KO, R, RBI, SB/ERA, K, L, W, S, Quality starts ratio, WHIP Keep up to 11 guys: Wieters $10 Adrian Gonzalez $10 Chase Utley $44 Evan Longoria $3 Jason Bartlett $5 Cristian Guzman $1 Paul Konerko $10 Jason Bay $13 Johnny Damon $9 Adam Dunn $25 Andrew McCutchen $13 Shane Victorino $14 Carlos Beltran $39 Chris Carpenter $10 Neftali Feliz $5 Ubaldo Jimenez $9 Hiroki Kuroda $2 Tim Lincecum $15 Ricky Nolasco $19 David Aardsma $10 Heath Bell $2 Fernando Rodney $9 Alcides Escobar $5 Chad Billingsley $7 Ramon Trancoso $5 Russell Branyan $6 Pedro Alvarez $5
Jimenez, Feliz, Lincecum, Carpenter, Longoria, Utley, Gonzalez, Weiters, Heath Bell, Billingsley, Bay. I love Nolasco, so if you want another pitcher, I'd add him. Might keep Bartlett, too, since the price is so low.
What is your cap? definite s Adrian Gonzo Longo Guzman Dunn Victorino/Bay Lincecum Carp ubaldo Billingsly Escobar Bell Possible Utley( assuming its like all other $ leagues you could probably get him at a lower price) Wieters Branyan
no cap for Keeper $$, our overall budget is 260 for the standard roto lineup, altho with pitchers we do 6 designated SPs and 3 designated RPs and I actually think Utley would go for more if he got thrown back into the auction, so i'm gonna keep him. His value at that position is just insane.
I'd keep the following for sure: Weiters Gonzalez Utley (he's just too good not to keep IMO) Longoria Lincecum Jimenez Feliz Carpenter I'd personally also keep McCutcheon Nolasco Billingsly (he's a really tough one to call right now, but he's an ace if he's right) Bay I'm not a huge fan of closers and think you can get them anywhere, so I wouldn't keep Bell. McCutcheon is underrated IMO, and he was pretty solid last year for me. If he can add a little power, I think he's a legit starter this year with star potential. Not sure on Bay, but I think the price is good enough and I don't think the park will hurt him as much as people seem to think.
jesus I'm in a $185 cap league and our highest paid player is Pujols at $30, Utley makes $18 in my league it's also a NL only league
I'm on the fence about Billingsley, but at that price I suppose I can afford to take a risk on him. Not sure if I threw him back I could get him for cheaper than $7. I agree with you about closers, but for $2 it guarantees me a reliable guy at a dirt cheap price. Generally I spend on everything but closers and throw about $7 tops on all 3 spots combined. I'd rather have Bell in that slot than a bum. I like Nolasco but I think I can get him for cheaper. We have a huge Mets homer in the league so I'm gonna see what I can get for Bay from him.
You can fill as many as you need to hit your At bat requirements. Which is like 550 for each position Example last year this was my team C- Yadier Molina $4 1b- Derrek Lee $7 2nd- Kaz Matsui $3 Ss- Hardy $5 3rd- Derosa $7 Lf-Braun$ 14 Cf- Winn $ 8 Rf- Bruce $22 bench was Emilio Bonoficio $ 4 Atkins $10 Pierre reed Johnson $3 Jason Kendall $2 Aurillia staff was Wainwright $4 Cliff Lee $ 11 Tommy Hanson $7 Paul Maholm $4 Anibal Sanchez $3 I spot started De la Rosa and Jonathon Sanchez Pen was Franklin Moralles, Ryan Franklin $.50(you can only put 1 closer in a closer spot) and Grabow My innings requirement is something like 1400 innings so you need depth
Good point on Bell, and I forgot what price you were getting him at. I'd probably keep him ahead of Nolasco or even Bay. I'd personally keep McCutcheon over those two.
Every year the guys in our league talk about how they aren't gonna splurge and go overboard on players, and yet each year someone will go 50+ for Hanley. Not saying that's a bad move. Thankfully this is the 3rd year of our 3-year contracts, so Pujols may be back up for auction next year The year we first drafted was the year there was rumblings about Pujols having an injury headed into the season so he only went for $38, major
I think there's a good chance you're right on Nolasco. He will be the most undervalued pitcher in most drafts this year, along with Brett Anderson and Jordan Zimmermann.
The thing about Nolasco is the perception. Last year he was included in every fantasy columnist's list of sleepers/breakout players. When a player is that universally touted as a sleeper, it tends to create a backlash. So the owners in our league were skeptical of him to begin with. The fact he had a so-so year only cemented their feelings. I'm sure many of them will come into this season with a "Heh, how did that super sleeper Nolasco work out last year " attitude, so I should be able to grab him for at least a few bucks less
HTF did I miss this? I see now it came out on August 10th, which would have been our busiest time at camp this summer, so it makes sense. Then I went to Vegas for a week. I guess once he got shut down, I quit keeping up. Kid has a bright future if he bounces back like so many have. He was sneaky good this year.
