Yep. It helped that my buddies and I took a sip of whiskey every time the word “family” was mentioned. We ran out of booze.
Momoa stole the show. Fan-fucking-tastic villain. And it was entertaining AF. Slow to start, but very entertaining.
Oh, and a fun fact: The flight attendant is Paul Walker’s daughter. I thought she looked familiar (maybe a previous entry in the franchise), but that wasn’t the case. Looked her up from the credits and saw it was an actual family relation.
I don't really know how to describe his performance other than to say that he looked like he was as excited and had as much fun as any actor ever in a role. And while I think a lot of his performance was ridiculous and cartoonish, I go to these movies for comedy (intended or not) and he made me laugh.
That was ridiculous. Even by this series’ standard and they fucking went to space in the last one. - Jason Mamoa’s Dante is my favorite villain in the series though. He was awesome - Will be there opening weekend for the next one
The next two. Because Fast X is a trilogy. You’re welcome for me bringing you the best news of your day
Jason Mamoa is the GOAT I audibly gasped at seeing Gal Gadot and The Rock Tyrese and Luda better not be dead Hulked up Pat McAfee fucking sucked and spent way too much time in a tanning bed
No one in this franchise is ever dead, including characters played by actors who are dead. As proven by Gal Gadot showing up in a submarine outside of a prison on Antarctica.
I kinda want a female F&F series with Leddy, Mia, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Gal Gadot, and Nathalie Emmanuel, and Helen Mirren That would be pretty cool
His attempt at a horrible Joker rip off took me out of the movie for the first 45 minutes. By the end I kind of respected him for sticking with the absurdity all the way to the end.
It’s like they made a fast and furious version of Tom cruise in Tropic Thunder. And then made him overly femine The agency having an avengers style black site prison complete with robot surgery was just hilarious.
Damnit. I mean they’ve already went to space, dropped out of planes, brought down aircraft cars and raced down an exploding damn. How much more over the top can they go.
paying to run a louis ck parody account simply to make jokes about sexual assault is degenerate stuff
I finally caught up while flying. I can’t believe literally no one can die at this point. Mamoa was like a combo of every Joker version rolled into one, heavy on Leto. That said, I still love every minute of it. Side note: caught a few minutes of Expendables 4 on another screen while flying and Statham looks so slow and fake in those…and then to see him in FF and he’s still kicking ass. Not sure if it’s the character or just -strangely - better filmmaking.
But you literally can’t at this point. Everyone’s invincible, including the cars. Mamoa has access to all of Cypher’s tech and we’re just gonna go back to street racing? Unless they’re literally building a time machine(not ruling it out), I don’t see how you put pandora back in the box.
i genuinely hope they just reset back to the first couple and never acknowledge how or why would make them not killing off brian even funnier
finally after years i convinced my wife to watch all of them. we just finished 7. legit think it might be the most absurd one between the parachuting cars and the dubai towers and hobbs flexing out of his cast “i don’t have friends…i have family” is a hard af line tho
Yea it jumped the shark sometime after that. Honestly I'd have to sit down and watch them all again to say where but they were good up through 5. The over the top stuff like the space story kinda sucked for me.
You can't recreate 1 after making 9 more of them. It's not possible. And the new style is hilarious to me and makes for an extremely enjoyable theater experience even though the last two have been bad movies. I thought Fast X sucked as a movie and was still one of my favorite theater experiences this year.
the biggest mistake they made was not just killing off brian when walker died the montage of him and dom with see you again playing is a really good scene that loses all of its impact because he’s just going to drop off kids at daycare and now he just never sees his friends even tho his wife does. it’s weird and awkward
them going back to simple street racing makes the brian thing even more absurd. “oh our days of fighting terrorists are over but our best friend still has t ball practice that’s why he’s never here” i know they can cgi it but hopefully technology has improved a ton because it was so transparently obvious at the end of 7 that it was a computer rendering idk i am an idiot for thinking this much about this series
Made my partner watch them all pretty recently, with 9 and 10 happening during flights on the bookends of a vacation. Experiencing them all so close together and watching the series evolve is really hilarious. 5 is probably my favorite though Tyrese in 2 never fails to make me laugh. “Ejecto seato cuz!” makes it into my vocabulary at least monthly. I love the ridiculousness of the Rock but I’ll take Cena in this role every time; his awareness of humor is so underrated. Any inclusion of Statham is a plus for me.
The airplane / runway scene that lasts 17 Minutes gets a lot of acclaim but Dom taking out a nuclear sub with a muscle car really is the greatest moment in cinema
I’m not sure how to top Ludacris and Tyrese in space in a Ford Fiero/duct tape/diving suits…but go off
Tyrese being involved in both this franchise and the first three Michael Bay Transformers movies this century has been incredible for me. And his performance in 2 was the best of them all.
