Father in law is named Terry, he has a bowl named ‘Terry’s Trump List’ where he has to throw coins into it every time he rants about Trump.
We had the wife's family over for Christmas. Let me preface this with the FIL is of Irish decent (his grandfather was Irish), in his first 70 years of life had never had a tattoo but recently got one on his arm and decided Christmas eve was the time to show it off. It read: Ни шагу назад! / Ni shagu nazad! Which is Russian and translated into English is, "not one step back!" which is a quote from Joseph Stalin. I thought it was hilarious but it was not quite the same hit with the rest of the family.
My wife’s grandfather passed away a few years ago. This Christmas some cousins were trying to get on the WiFi. It wasn’t the password I set up for them years ago. I was able to get into their computer and realize that it was changed to “republican”. He was an awesome guy. I’m sure he loved giving that password out to people.
My FIL and MIL coming this afternoon. Can't wait to come home to find my FIL pulling weeds and watering the roses. I say that sarcastically because it always makes me feel like shit.
Turned on the tv at my mother-in-law's house (my wife's parents have both re-married). Television is set to 720p.
So my FIL borrowed my car this weekend. Well today i went to go put something in the passenger side and noticed the door was hard to shut. I looked down and noticed there was a dent (pushing up ) in the door frame cause the door to catch a bit. I barely use the passenger side door bc we always use my wifes car, so i asked my FIL if he had issues or if i had hit a pot hole or something since this weekend. He then says that he got a flat tire this weekend, and replaced it with a doughnut and then went and got a new tire. Well i guess he jacked the car up in the wrong spot causing the dent or whatever popped the tire dented. However, i dont get why he wouldnt say something. Mistakes fucking happen, but the car needs to be checked out for alignment and shit. My wife is livid right now. Think ill just let her handle it as i dont want to get into with him. Also the kicker is he lives with us right now....
Just got the phone call that I have been waiting for, for 3.5 years! FIL and MIL are going to be replacing their Samsung S3's with iPhones. I was technical support, tier 1-4, since they had the phones. Just need to get through resetting 50+ passwords..........
If you’ve followed some posts of mine here you would know the history with my FiL and flip phones. He finally steps up to smart phone (Motorola) two weeks ago. Now he gets a promotion today and needs a work cell phone so he picks up another smart phone (LG). This is going to be harder than going from 0 to 2 kids for him. I tried to convince him of some options like Google Voice and forward calls so he only has one phone to carry. His reply was to get a Magic Jack...which he also did. I had no clue those were still a thing. And he also asked me what I think of Hewlett-Packard Laptops again. I swear he’s fucking with me because we had this conversation at least a dozen times.
Maybe start suggesting the really outdated stuff and he'll go with the cutting edge stuff just to spite you
According to MIL, my FIL very clearly has sleep apnea and stops breathing roughly 20 seconds at a time during the night. When called out about it he said he’s just so healthy that he only has to breathe two-thirds of every minute.
Speaking as a person who has sleep apnea the challenge is it puts incredible stress on the heart. What literally happens is your body realizes the lack of oxygen and floods the bloodstream with adrenaline to jump start the breathing. The heart gets this and kicks into high speed. That can happen several times or in my case 12-20 times an hour. Getting diagnosed changed my life. Literally. I wake up at 6 am most days fully rested. It sucks wearing it and getting adjusted to it but it has been incredible. I would suggest he talk to someone who has been diagnosed and learn what an impact a cpap/bpap can make.
As someone who has watched you sleep every night for the last 6 years and 7 months, I don't think you have sleep apnea
I have been very hesitant to post here this week because my FIL just had double bypass surgery and I was thinking of deleting all my old posts. I got a hotel room for my wife and her sister to be close to the hospital and for her mom to stay if needed. Since Tuesday my wife has been doing everything and I have our 5 year old. Wife comes home today and tells me she has to go right back down because they need a few things. She was asked to pick up a shirt for him in case he gets discharged soon to wear home. She shows him today...he doesn’t like the color and type of shirt. And to think I almost paid someone to cut his grass today.
I told him I would see if my SIL boyfriend can help while he is around to get their treadmill set up so he can use it as his therapy progresses. He tells me he can’t use that because he doesn’t want to fall or walk too fast. Just confirming he has never used a treadmill before. I couldn’t hold back reminding him that he fell stepping off his porch 2 years ago and completely seperated his hamstring from his leg.
FIL: "Do you perform abortions? Are you aware you're aiding in black people killing off their own species (yes, he said species)?" Me: (launch into angry rebuttal cuz he's an infowars fucktard but still take great care to allow him to continue thinking I perform abortions cuz I love the fact that he thinks an abortion dr is making sexual love to his daughter)
My wife finally convinced my FIL to ditch the flip phone so she could send him pictures of the kids. I asked him what he was planning on getting and he said he wanted a Smart (“they’re top of the line, eh?”), but he didn’t need a model that does email or the internet. That got me thinking, I don’t think he has ever used a computer. My wife couldn’t say for sure.
My uncle is solid on a computer. downloads, emails, visits sites, etc but he has never owned a cellphone. So fucking weird. Initially he didn’t want another bill but now he is just stubborn.
So I come home last night and here cock blockers playing in his room. I know this has just been released to video and he doesn't have a dvd player. So I check and sure enough he rented it for 5.99 from Comcast. Not a huge deal but we are paying all the bills and a little heads up would be nice. My cable bill is on auto pay because it doesn't change, or so I thought. Inreviewd my bills and he has spent over 100 dollars in movies and most of them are on Redbox or Netflix. The money isn't a huge deal but atleast ask or let me know so I can watch them too. Her family is horrible with money and they still haven't fixed the car from before bc money is tight. The ppv movie stuff is a reference to that. He just doesn't realize that adds up. I'm.honestly not surprised it's not higher. I litterally have no clue how my wife was raised in that family. I love the to death but this iritates the fuck out of me. He does move out this month so that is good. He also is the luckiest guy ever. He was supposed to find housing for his family for the end of the month. He didn't even start looking until this week due to money concerns. Well, he is watching soccer with some people from his work and casually mentions it. They say they are moving out of a brand new condo this week and the next day he had a place to live with no deposit and can move in whenever at 20 percent less than want the condo is the going rate. That would never happen to me. I'm happy for him, and he is getting out of my hair.
God, I'm so out of touch with movies that I think large parts of this were filmed less than a mile from my house and I forgot about it.
When my dad was staying with me a couple of years ago, he charged about $500 in porn in one month on my directv account. I bought him a tablet and showed him how to find it online for free
Our fil are stupid as fuck, mine doesn’t want to come at my parents house because we will use the boat. He is scared of water....I mean wtf, he is 65 years old and can’t and never could swim. He never once ate a goddam fish. Never, ever...he wants a steak and potato. I feel bad for him. But boomers are dumb as fuck He is still a good dude, but it’s incredible how dumb he is. He litterally won’r try anything new
My FIL just came for a visit. He spent most of the trip watching the worst movies Netflix has to offer. He lives in rural Virginia with maybe the worst internet in the developed world so Netflix is a luxury he doesn't have. I figured he planned on taking us to some obscure monument to waffles or some other random bullshit he loves, so this might have been the best trip ever.
I took my FIL fishing this weekend and we had a blast. I feel very lucky after reading some of these updates
Not even double bypass surgery can cancel the annual myrtle beach vacation trip. Unbelievable. Just about a month from his surgery we leave. He is still sleeping on a recliner because he was told he can’t roll over for 30 days. So his first night sleep might be in a shitty uncomfortable bed. In the hot days recently he lasted about 10 minutes outside. Should be a fun 12-14 hour drive for him and watch him sit in the condo all week. There was never any consideration for our now 5 year old in years past when and where we went to dinner. Often times waiting in lines at peak dinner time for an hour. This should go well now too. :shoot me: I presented an option to use my buddies condo for about $300 for the week and maybe we fly down with the money with save but go in August. He immediately says no because it’s not “on the beach” in the overpriced shitty place we have stayed for years. It’s litterly $3k for a week and I have to pay 1/3 of that. /rant again
