Try it with everything amped up and not knowing where your child is and get back to me. The state of Georgia just proved a case where part of the defense was that there were dozens of escape routes, but he still tried to defend himself from the gunman.
Exactly. At that point the bf is, as far as the dad knows and says, withholding his child from him by the use of a gun. There’s no way a father doesn’t freak out especially after the “warning shot”. At that point a man just tried to shoot you and keep you from your child. The gun swinging is completely justified as getting someone who just shot at you away from you. He didn’t charge after him after it or anything either. Dad was not the aggressor (as stated by the person recording it from across the street)
I'm personally not dealing with gunmen. If you want to try to fight one off unarmed you'll end up dead and they'll walk free. Just turn around and walk away, if they kill you at least they'll go to jail. They pulled the gun out for a reason and as soon as they can use it they will. Your best odds are just turning and leaving and hoping they realize they have no case for self defense.
Yet the guy with the gun is all for people trying to be the good guy that stops the bad guy during mass shootings. These people are no different that mass murdering terrorists. Same mindset, different set of rules though.
PRECH. I fucking hate pussies like this, if we have a problem throw up your goddamn hands like a man.
citrodong I don’t think you realize that the mental processing of logical options in regard to statistics and laws isn’t the first or fastest cerebral function that happens in scenarios like this. On paper, great. In practice not so much.
Also this is clearly murder to me, but I’m not confident a jury comprised of Texans will see it that way.
The only way this ends is the kid at the heart of the dispute killing the boyfriend in self defense some day. Probably after the boyfriend has savagely beaten his mom for the umpteenth time.
This has been going around in group texts for a few weeks now. Was curious how it stayed so quiet for so long. He’s a big gun rights guy.
In Lubbock with the shooter having ties to gun rights activists, law enforcement and judicial members? Not a chance. Prob sue the dead dad for his life insurance
The fact that you took me that seriously...i'm sorry for that. I never really meant hate towards you. I only make jokes here. Nothing I really post is THAT serious.
This may have already been addressed - but does it change anything legally if the father showed up under the influence and that was their "claimed" reasoning for pretty much refusing to tell the father where his child is? No idea if that was the case as it's obviously a situation that would result in most people being pretty erratic and upset about effectively having a child kidnapped. wes tegg
Statement from the lady filming, if this wasn’t posted: “I recorded the shooting on my cell phone. During this entire incident, I didn’t realize that Kyle Carruth was holding and brandishing an actual firearm. At that time, I thought that it was some type of stun-gun or paintball gun. Even when Kyle Carruth fired the shots, the sound was very muffled and not as loud as I know firearms to be. It wasn’t until I got to Chad on the ground that I realized that he had in fact been shot and that the weapon held by Kyle Carruth was a firearm.”
Because people always instantly bend in two and crumple to the ground when shot with a paintball gun. They also remain motionless on the ground for minutes.
I remember MTV used to have a half hour stand up show when I was little. Some guy did a bit on guns and murder laws in texas. Basically gist of it was jury would acquit if your defense was “well he needed killing”.
Interesting piece of info in this article about the whole situation… “Christina Read and Kyle Carruth have been engaged in an ongoing affair, despite Kyle Carruth being married. On October 30, 2021, Chad Read informed Christina Read that he had evidence of her affair with Kyle Carruth and that he was going to go public with it. On November 5, 2021, after 4:00 p.m., myself and my minor son were physically present when Chad Read met with Christina Read at Kyle Carruth’s residence at 2100 90th St, Lubbock, Texas. We were there to pick up Chad’s youngest son. Chad was supposed to have custody of the child beginning at 3:15pm, but Christina stated that, she “wanted to see him” as her excuse to why she had not produced the child as ordered by the court at the time required. https://www.fox34.com/2021/11/24/at...hildren-their-mother-releases-video-shooting/
Goddamn. So the dad went to the bf’s house that his ex was cheating on him with and they straight up kidnapped his kid and shot him for getting mad about it. Hang them both.
It goes on to say… “I believe that Christina Read and Kyle Carruth engaged in a conspiracy to assault and/or murder Chad that day. “The entire interaction took place outside of the residence. While Chad was inquiring about the location of the youngest son, Kyle Carruth went inside the residence. At the moment Kyle Carruth turned to go inside, Christina Read took several steps back away from the door and immediately began recording what I believe to be video with her phone.
That wouldn’t legally justify use of force, but they might make the argument to support the shooter’s subjective fear of harm. They’ll do a tox screen on the victim, so they’ll know his impairment level.
I *think* it’s a Ruger PC Carbine, so it could very likely be a subsonic 9mm round. That would sound much different than what most people associate with gunshots, even though it doesn’t appear to have a suppressor.
I am going to show you a picture of various stun guns and then a picture of various guns. My comment was about “stun guns.” Relax man.
I don’t know, but her lack of reaction is bizarre. Maybe just a desensitization to guns? If I saw someone shoot another person with what I knew was a paintball gun, I’d have a bigger reaction than she had.
Finally watched the video. An underrated (not good underrated, just him trying to cover his ass) part at the end is bf saying ‘none of y’all should be here, I asked you to leave.’ He is ‘saying that’ to a person in their vehicle on the street. Just another way to interpret the law however the fuck you want to justify having your guns. Same shit as those pricks in St. Louis who felt justified carrying their guns on the front lawn as people, legally, walk on public land.
You can’t have a subjective fear of harm based on intoxication if you have no idea whether the guy was intoxicated at the time.
The, he needed killing and my man was the man for a job has been a defense everywhere for a long, long time.
Agreed. I don’t think it’s a compelling argument; I was just answering the question about the extent it could be relevant.
No not at all. You can hear her authentic shriel when she puts the phone down, walks over to him, and notice the blood. I'll be honest the thought of someone resorting to murder seems so far away to me I wouldn't believe it was real either. I just think my brain would be playing tricks on me until reality sunk in. I would think a rational person would lock themselves inside and call the cops to get the screaming man off my property if I felt in the right (which they clearly aren't).
I agree. I'm not sure how anyone is comparing this to the Rittenhouse situation. In this case, instead of trying to run away the shooter went and got a gun. That's classic escalation.
Yes I did not want to post but I honestly was hoping to spread awareness so this maniac goes to jail. I hope the victim gets the support and justice he deserves.
I don’t know what to think other than it was weird because he didn’t move. Maybe she thought it was a stun gun idk but the way he went down and didn’t move would have made me freak out.
She’s a complete phone zombie, her ex husband is yelling and rightfully saying he’ll drag her into court and she cant even take her eyes off it
Ahhh I thought this was more in reference to how the woman filming from the truck was basically numb to her newlywed husband being murdered.
