Fifa 12

Haven't played FIFA in a long time. How much different is FIFA 11 from FIFA 12? Don't want to pay full price for 12 if I can get 11 at a fraction of the cost.

 

Just wait until this fall and get FIFA 2013

 

But I need a game to play now.

 

I havent played any of the fifa games in a few years until recently, but fifa12 is one of the best sports games Ive ever played.

 

Ok I need help. On professional level (which I know, isn't high) I can't win. The computer seems to know what I'm going to do before I do. They deflect every pass, stuff every 1 on 1 move, catch me every time I play a through ball and have a path to the net, they clear every cross and win every battle in the air....I'm excited if I get 1, 2 quality chances a game. Semi-pro is way too easy but pro whoops my ass.

 

Try a new formation. What are you running? Maybe set tactics to counter attack to get some more guys up field for you.

 

4-4-1-1(1) - Liverpools default. it just seems like im always outnumbered everywhere on the field

 

That's because you're using Liverpool.

 

You know how to use tactical dribbling right? I pass in the midfield but once I get in the final third, I like to put on the one man show or just play keep away until something opens up. A really good move to use is going out to the corner flag with your wingers and trying to spin your way into the box. Pretty easy to beat a defender if you've got a technically gifted player. I abuse the shit out of that with Ribery and Robben.

 

Tactical dribble when you hold left trigger\L2? I switched formations to a 4-1-2-1-2 and it opened some stuff up

 

Also use the L1 X pass (not sure what it is on XBOX)

It allows the guy making the pass to take off running right after making the pass, L1 also sends your players on runs (if you weren't aware) I found it helps to open things up much more.

 

Any advice on corners? Pretty much every corner I take is immediately cleared.

 

I hold up to drive the ball in on a lower trajectory on corners. You can fill the meter up while holding up and it'll usually go right to the far post.

 

But yeah, corners aren't super effective unless you have some guys that just stand head and shoulders above everyone else. I'm always pretty shocked when I score on a corner.

 

I just went through a month strech of not scoring on any corners and have hit 4 or 5 in the last few days. just how it goes I guess.

 

Super newb question, when shooting , does up and down pick which post you shoot at or does left shoot at the upper post and right the lower post?

 

If you want to shoot to the right push the joystick upper right(NE) and upper left(NW) for the left side of the goal. I don't think you can affect how high or low the ball goes other than the power bar.

The key things for newbs is to just relax when you are about to shoot. A couple of my friends freak the fuck out and their shots are laughable. Just go upper right or left and use moderate power. I go upper right if Im on the left side of field and upper left if on the right side(most the time)

 

Any defennsive tips? Seems they knock me off the ball like a heat seeking missle and most times I'm chasing them as they go around me like the harlem globetrotters.

 

Contain is your best friend. I double team on contain quite a bit. Especially if they get around my box. Generally I can contain someone long enough to bring in another defender to take the ball (computer-controlled). The computer does love long spells of possession regardless of the playing style of the other team so don't get too frustrated if they work their way through midfield effortlessly. You'll eventually learn to get the tackles down yourself, but sliding tackles is a different story. Seems those always direct the ball right to one of the opposing teammates. Very frustrating.

 

Ya I never slide tackle, even when you get it, it seems you don't get possession.

Is it just me or do defenders never run out of turbo. Seems like you better have 5 steps on the defender or he's going to catch you before you can get close enough to shoot.

 

Also is there a way to make your computer controlled defenders to not go full retard in the box? They just sit there and watch the attacking player dribble around them and score.

 

Ok, wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was doing.

 

You can use R1 to kind of get them to attack (doesn't work that great).

Try to find some good customized tactics and use those because you can change their pressure level, aggressiveness, etc.

I just did that and it seems if you select aggressive or pressure (whatever it is), your guys win the ball a lot more.

I love how the computer never fouls. They pick it off of your foot clean almost every time
