The stereotype is Panthers/Lightning/Stars/Coyotes/etc season ticket holders selling their tickets to opposing teams fans, particularly to northern teams. It’s such a problem that most orgs have rules against it.

Since he scored again I’ll just disagree and say fuck defensively responsible and just give me unrelenting offense which is what the team thrives on all season. Trying to be more physical and defensively responsible is what has us down 2-1 and not dominating any one game in particular .. although 2nd period today was about as good as they’ve been in that regard

I love that Backstrom took himself out of the play by interfering with Giroux, only to have Verhaeghe come out of nowhere for the GWG.
honestly he wasn't out of the play. if he sees 23 coming he has plenty of space to get back in there and take that position first. He is just totally unaware he's even coming. In the photo above, Backstrom is already free and has both skates on the ice. He easily could have booked it but he totally coasted and got beat. My actual favorite part is before this when the Caps have the puck in the zone and Verhaeghe thinks the puck goes outside the zone for offsides. I tried watching closely and it doesn't look like the play is offsides but that play was inches to never happening.
I think we are talking about the same thing here. Backstrom never sees Carter. It's why he focused all his energy on inerfering with Giroux to make it essentially a 1 v 1 with Barkov against a defenseman. If Backstrom just hustles back instead of taking what should have been a penalty, it's at best a 3 on 2 where the Panthers still have an odd man rush, but it's not a backdoor goal for Vergaehe anymore. Also, I think even a hustling Backstrom gets beat to the spot by Carter because he slowed down so much to interfere with Giroux. Verhaeghe is a lot faster than a pretty much washed Backstrom.
got it. I thought you meant he was more physically out of the play after the contact with Giroux. but I see what you're saying that his attention was elsewhere. But even then if he notices him coming right away he has time to make that a really difficult play and he just goes full beer league forward trying to play defense. (I would know because thats how I play "defense")
That's how a lot of forwards play defense. Look at Giroux on the Oshie GWG in game 1. Same kind of situation where Giroux floats a bit and oshie beat giroux down the wing to score
Generally yes but playoff hockey brings different intensity on backchecks which is a huge reason playoff hockey is so much different. You’re playing vs more people actually trying to defend (usually) but backstrom doesn’t just float a bit. He flat out disconnected his controller

Don’t understand why panthers twitter is so anti Bruno especially with this power play shit. He’s literally tried everything other than benching pp1 and starting with pp2. But the pp has shown different mixes and different looks and uhhh the players aren’t making great decisions.
