I'm fucking heartbroken. I'm glad I was able to take my boys to see them last summer for their first major concert. We were right in front of the stage here when he came out and sang Somebody to Love. Damnit. This one hits hard.
Ummmm what??? He’s had plenty of drug problems in the past. This fucking sucks. Probably the best performers I’ve ever seen.
This might be what makes Dave hang it up. He’s lost the third best friend in his life and Taylor was like a kindred spirit and sibling. I’ll miss his captain Morgan pose to Queen.
Wtf they just put out a album. Hawkins was great. Hopefully it wasn’t drug related. He’s had his demons. He was only 49.
Every time they’re there. Playing “You Should Be Dancing” to them last year was amazing. One of my favorite Taylor moments: asked what he’d be doing if he weren’t the drummer for FF, Hawkins replied, “probably like an Uber driver or something”
Saw FF last summer and he let Nandi Bushell play Everlong, and it went viral. He had so much joy watching her play too. He was a phenomenal singer too, did Queen cover and was as close as I heard to Mercury singing their song.
I was never a huge Foo Fighters fan, but I came around to really appreciate their sound and what they did for the music scene. Taylor was amazing on drums, and I’m not sure he can come close to being replicated. RIP. Tragic, tragic news.
He was great at what he did. Huge bummer. Hope it was something relatively benign and not self inflicted.
I'm struggling with this. My stepdad introduced me to FF when I was in middle school and I've been hooked ever since. This was our favorite song. He passed away three years ago. Tonight is not a good night.
When I was a kid I thought 50 was old. Now I realize how young that is and he is gone way too soon. Life is too fucking short and things like this put meaningless shit in perspective.
people were at the stage and they just put a sign up on the screen "hey sorry no show, dude died" sheesh that must've been brutal
Just in case, a rough translation of the stage message: "With a broken heart, we are here to communicate extremely sad news. Due to a very serious medical situation, Foo Fighters won't be able to perform tonight and have also cancelled the remaining concerts of their South American tour. The Festival still stands. We have delayed the beginning of Black Pumas by 20 minutes, and soon we'll tell you the schedule for the rest of the evening. We are deeply sorry for the situation. To the people who bought a single-day ticket, it will be useable on Sunday. This is a situation that is completely out of our control. We are deeply sorry and ask for lots of patience."
Fucking horrible news. I'm not even that big a Foo fan, but I always respected the group for their immense talent and just being such a bunch of awesome dudes. This is crap - he was way too young and taken way too soon.
