If you’re a soccer fan and spend 49$ and put in a season worth of play timw while you try to play around with everything and learn from it i doubt you put it down. The learning curve is quite steep but its so worth it.

I have 437 hours played this year. probably have like 10000 hours since championship manager 00/01.

Its def not for everyone. but if you love soccer its a pretty good bet. the great thing about it is you can lay on your couch and watch sports and play and follow both pretty well.

I’ll stop posting a billion posts but i think i covered most of what i wanted to say anyways.

When do they usually release the game. Would it be worth waiting for FM20 to be released?

I mean theres bound to be sales. usually drops in like late october iirc. i buy it every year (plenty of people stick with older versions and thats fine too). and you’ll get tons of fun with this year eventhough its late. But you could wait.

I don't think I've paid over 30 for any version of FM. There's good sales on it a lot of the time

Only thing I’d say is, to me, this isn’t a game to play on the phone.

What makes this game awesome is the depth and all the little things. Don’t think it can be appreciated as much via mobile :twocents:

sure every game is better if you sit down and have a good amount of time to play. But seriously you can easily play it 30 minutes, an hour or 2 hours here and there. You can totally do it at your own pace.

The stupidest thing is how little your own board is always willing to pay you. They now pay my assistant coach more than me. Its garbage and it ruins any authenticity. I'd never stick around for my 250k when I get 1.2 mill offers elsewhere and all I want is expanded scouting (which you then give me 2 weeks later out of nowhere) and a small raise.

Btw, I just upgraded my xbox live gold to xbox game pass ultimate with that insane $1 deal, and it includes the game pass PC sub in there. So I get FM19 fo' free. Just a heads up for those on the fence that also have xbox.

Holy shit this game is incredibly complicated. I just want to scout a left back and be able to tell if he’s a significant upgrade over what I have. Then I’m trying to negotiate contracts and don’t know how much I should actually be paying people

The year is 2022 and I've just guided Bordeaux to a Ligue 1 title, with Malcom leading the way. Lost in the semifinals of the CL to Chelsea in penalties. That was kick to the nuts. I was able to get a double by winning one of the two cups. Lost the other in the final on penalties(I should find better penalty takers).

Average age of my team is only 22. The average wage of my team is only 21k lol(Malcom makes 140k).

Got the club set up great with an insane youth setup. Not sure if I want to try and get a CL title before I take another job, or jump at a job like Dortmund should it be offered.

So I tried to sign a 17 year old whose value was $500,000. I bid $400,000 with bonuses and it got rejected. I hit suggest terms and they put $78 mil on him....so I guess I don't get this game.

Well you could most likely get him for 40-50mil but as in real life. top end talent is expensive as fuck.

Your scout reports will show range of price theyd most likey want for the player. it can also say that they dont wanna sell and that usually means they’ll be very expensive.

Trying to pull a talent from a poor or smaller club is a lot easier than say Man City or another top 30 club.

It makes it really hard to figure out who to buy and how much to pay. I think I made a mistake by going with a Championship team my first run through. The window is almost closed and ive bought no one.

well then its really hard to get anyone. I started with kidderminster in the lowest english leagues. i didnt buy anyone until i was in either league 1 or the championship, i lived on players with no contracts. the lower leagues even the championship takes a lot of finessing.

You're definitely hurting yourself by starting in the Championship. Just take Liverpool, get used to the transfer system (with a WARCHEST) and ease into the game.

I agree. ease into smaller teams once you know your way around the game. it def takes a season or two just learning and making mistakes. everyone starts out like that.

Some advice: go to personel and have some one be in charge of the things you dont want to get into at first, like training is a big one worry about that later.

use one of the preset tactics like gegenpres or something like that. find players that are green for the positions you want. you can change rolls so they fit the players better on the tactics screen. if you lose a lot try a new tactic.

Also, if you're on Steam, there are a ton of great tactics you can get from the workshop. Allows you to not have to think hard about instructions and all. I'm now using a copy of the game from the Microsoft Store instead and no longer have my crutch, so I'll have to set up the old fashioned way.

Due to this thread decided to turn on FM19 and had my London Tigers save up. In the Isthmian league a promotion away from Vanarama. I think I'm 5-6 years into this save. Was really contemplating whether I wanted to start over or keep going but I'm going to continue and see if I can get them into the Football League since I started in the Spartan South Midland League lol

We're sharing Bournemouth's stadium for the foreseeable future. It's fucking three hours away.

In the planning stages of building a 14.25k seat stadium. But we're on pace to sell 15k+ season tickets this season.

Board won't approve any improvements. I'm actively looking to jump ship.

Also, there's still a league one side with higher rep than me.

I have a 33k seater at kidderminster. started out at like 16000 and had to expand like 3 times. i’m hoping for 50k next time im allowed to build a stadium. but its probably unlikely. I’m in 2035 and playing the the euro cup and i’m in 4th-5th place in the league. dreaming about that sweet sweet Champions league.

First offseason is always the worst because you spend all this time getting your staff in order, setting up your tactics, making your transfers and then you go out for the first game and get pumped 6-0 by a pub side.

It's been said by several posters already but start with a team you like and with players you know. Go from there. Spend big on players and just muck around a bit. Find a tactic/formation you like on several of the FM tactic boards. Tweak it from there. Look up wonderkids buy one or two and spend the next couple of seasons getting them in the best place to grow. That's the easiest way to get hooked.

I usually play a save or four in each season. Favorite seasons include FM 11 with Brighton and Hove, FM16 with Fiorentina and FM14 with Wolves. I don't play as often with the lower level league teams like some of our posters but I have a lot of fun tinkering with tactics, switching it up every year or so and fitting my players into it. Right Now I'm in year 3 with valencia and I'm doing a 4-1-2-3 and trying to get all of my AMCs as proficient strikers. I just like creating tactics that are appealing and create chances. There are tactics out there that will have you win every match and not give up a goal all season but those aren't fun to me.

Different note- Work permit system combines the fee paid with the number of international caps / nation those caps are paid for. So it's easier to get a german player who has had 6 caps in the past year for 1 million dollars than a 19 year old Paraguayan with one cap for 10 million dollars.

Squad is getting testy with me because I sold Wanyama who was injured for several more months. "We don't have midfield depth!" We didn't before, bitches. And the first summer transfer has restricted funds, so what could I do? If the top spender in the Premier League was Man C at $48M and worldwide top spender was Bayern at $76M, I am pretty sure we all receive a reduced budget initially.

Why do my key players keep bitching about the low workload of training during the congested December fixture period? Trying to follow their request, I've upped the intensity level to Double intensity for all players with >80% physical fitness, normal intensity for 70%-79%, half for 60-69, and no pitch or gym for under 60. I don't know what the fuck else to do, I've even assigned those individuals extra individual training.

    What do.

Lol I would but one of the unhappy ~6 players is my dearest Harry. In real life, I have no doubts about his loyalty and that he will retire a one-club man. In the game, Real Madrid is constantly hovering over him and it would break my heart to have to sell him.

Also unrelated word to the wise, your transfer budget is a lie and God is dead. January window was wrapping up, needed an advanced playmaking midfielder, decided to improve my homegrown situation and agreed to a Lookman deal for 20.5 cost to this season's transfer budget but like 38m potential deal value. My transfer budget was 19.6m and I stole a little from the wages to make it 20.6m. Agreed to a contract and everything and then I got a message that I had to have 25m to complete the deal. It was 2am at this point and I force quit the game.
