I went on to win the next World Cup and then quit because international management is just a slog to me. I got frustrated at Hereford never upgrading its stadium and also managed to get Zidane forced out at United, so I took that job for the first time ever in FM. Went on to win a lot of shit and just had my first ballin d'or winner and invicible season in 3034. Still not a legend, but I'm taking a break from that save. So I've started a new one with Fredrikstad in the Norwegian second division. Basically they were top dogs in Norway before Rosenborg, but didn't professionalize the way other clubs did so they fell off in the 60s. They're still the second most successful Norwegian club ever, despite having won only two cups/top leagues in the last half century. My plan with them is to use only Scandinavian players and see how far I can go doing that.
went back to fm19 to play my Kidderminster save. I’m in the like 38/39 season i think. I’ve gotten in the top 4 the last 4 seasons. won 1 EPL. Got to CHL semis and lost the FA cup final. City won the treble last season and theyre pretty much impossible to keep up with. I have like a 39000 people stadium. would like to get 50k plus but i think im 10-11 years away from being able to build a new stadium. i think a new stadium can only be built after 20 seasons since the last one opened.
Summer 2024 now. 20/21 - Won BL2 21/22 - 10th 22/23 - 9th(Won DFB Pokal) 23/24 - 3rd(Quarterfinals of Europa, Final of DFB Pokal) Club announced after season that we will be looking at a new playing ground. Whether it's moving into the local community stadium that is recently built and larger, or building our own new stadium. I've been able to make a lot of really good, cheap(<10m) signings. Including guys like Alban Lafont and Gio Reyna(<5 mil combined). Best signing is my Brazilian striker Last season he scored 29 league goals, 40 total over all competitions. Bought him for 2.1, he's currently valued at 54M
Does anyone have a good database update they use/like? My II squad for Dynamo Dresden isn't in a league so it kind of stagnates my development. Just wondering for future saves if there's anything that can be done.
Weird, was just coming into the thread to ask how to get Schalke II playing in a league as a few of my prospects will age out of the U-19s next season....any ideas?
Oh shit never saw this thread. Just finished my first save. 22 seasons at Port Vale FC. Took them from League 2 to EPL and UCL glory. Toppling Man City off their 20 yr stranglehold of the PL took longer than it should have. Edit: I play Touch. I don't have a desktop so I can't run the full game.
Started a Create a team save with Clapton CFC in Vanarama South (lowest division you can go in Touch). Let's get this EPL title in <10 yrs! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clapton_F.C.
Do you have a laptop? I saw you play touch because of desktop, but if you have a decent* laptop you should be able to run it.
In year 8. Took charge of Dover. With 3 games to go in the season we’re 1 pt above Chelsea. have built them a new stadium and had to play at Brighton while ours was being built.
Started a save with Dulwich Hamlet recently. Currently leading Vanarama South halfway through season 1. I think the EPL needs our pink and purple kits
Bought touch version on my wife’s iPad to try it out and see if I want to buy an iPad to play 21 on when it comes out. Very early on but wow that’s a bit overwhelming, can’t imagine the full PC version.
I think I’ve had every version of FM since 2011 except 2016 or 17. Easily put more than 800 hours in each game. I’ve never done the insane start in the 8th division but I do a couple saves per game. This year was One with Perugia and one with Leeds. Perugia was a blast as I started with a classic Italian 3 at the back with a libero formation and eventually made it into a silly attacking won everything 343 with Emmanuel vignato coverted to striker. He scored around a bajillion goals while winning the champions league and Serie a. I have won the Man city Carabo cup twice with Leeds and Euro and champions league but can’t win the goddamn Prem. I Bought Sebastiano Esposito for less than 20 million euros and he scored 50 goals last season, Liverpool bought Myron Boadu for like 120 million the same season and his ass is on Loan to Roma. It’s stupid shit like that makes me love these games.
The insanity of player prices when you get 10+ yrs in is out of control. Top players were regularly going for 300M and you couldn't get a young 5⭐ potential for less than 120M. It really mimics the future of the real game. Only the Man City's, PSGs, Barcelona's, etc were able to afford top talent and therefore always had strangleholds on their respective leagues
I'm growing tired of my current save with Dynamo Dresden. Only having an u19 team that competes in a youth league really hinders development. And I'm getting to the point where the board has decided we're a major force and if we don't make Europe I'll get the sack. I really, really hate not having a functioning II/reserve team.
Thanks. A buddy of mine sent me a bunch of texts about it excited that I was playing. I’m starting with City just because I thought that would be a much easier starting point to get a feel for things then maybe buy an iPad and 21 when it comes out to play with a lower division side
Starting a new save. I have done EPL and BL. I'm thinking Spain but don't think I have the desire to run Bilbao. Any recommendations? I don't want to do a big time club, I think Valencia is about as large as I'd like to go. Not tied to Spain, just where I'm leaning.
Sociedad is Bilbao lite. Maybe Betis? St Etienne in France, Hamburg (division 2) or union could be fun in Germany.
I have a save with Dresden going now. Have them as a top 5 German club. But I don’t have a youth system because the DFB is all weird in FM.
They had a basque policy similar to Bilbao for a long time. They sign other players now but mostly Use HG. Also there are usually patches that fix the German National team stuff. Always grab one of those
Yea I didn’t realize how big of an issue no true reserve team would be until I was 4-5 seasons in. Really stunted growth for a lot of my youth.
I may or may not have watched several YouTube videos about Mansfield Town, including a profile of the chairwoman and a Q&A with her and her husband (owner) in front of season ticket holders, when I did a save with them. I don’t feel so weird now
Just finished the 24-25 season as the champions of League One. Finished 19th and barely avoided relegation the previous season, but now the game said they are talking about erecting a statue of me. Can't get a decent Asst Coach for anything, but hopefully this promotion helps on that front. I have to say I felt more than a little betrayed when Fulham stole my star 19 year old midfielder Craig Kennedy last season due to a minimum fee release clause (I got him on a free when he washed out of Man U's academy) then wouldn't loan him back, and then loaned him to a worse club. Even in FM Tony Kahn is a douche.
Fm20 free on epic. Go claim it. It is 93 fucking GB though, so I have some purging I need to do to fit it.
It’s been forever since I played FM. My laptop is shit now, so I’ve considered playing either mobile or touch. I have an iPhone and an iPad. Anyone have experience with those version?
My understanding is that mobile is very dumbed down. I wasn’t a fan of it but I’ve also never played full game. Downloaded touch on my wife’s iPad but haven’t really dove into it
touch is alright it could scratch that itch im p sure.. but i started playing back in the championship manager days, so i cant live without the full game. also playing on a tablet eh.
I play Touch on the iPad. I cannot compare it, because it's all I've ever known. The limitations are that you only get 3 countries that have fully developed leagues, and even then to can only go like 6 or 7 leagues down (if the country support s that. I don't think you can do a 6th level league in like Australia). Team training is limited. You can't set a specific training schedule for each day of the week. If you want to control team training, you have to go on day to day and change the focus. Or let your Ass Man do it. No team meetings and no player meetings. Occasionally during the season your Ass Man will suggest holding a meeting after a stretch of success or losses, bit you can't call one whenever you want. Kind of annoying because you can't fire them up for a big game or try to head off a losing streak before it gets too long.
