That kid is a stud. God damn. You going to try and make him a CM? He has some decent technique that you could develop
keeping him as a DM because his 16 tackling is the best tackling of any player on my squad and he’s been key at winning possession back in a lot of big matches
Has anyone had success using pressing forwards in these games? I always use an advanced forward but they go offside like 5 times a game and I’m tired of it, I have a 6’3 17 year old striker that’s like 1-2 years away and I’m thinking of turning him into a pressing forward and making him the guy if he develops
I somehow got these guys into the playoff rounds in the champions league to try and get into the round of 16 With all the money we’ve made I asked to improve youth facilities and was told no, so for the first time ever I hit leak it to the press and it worked lmaooo
I have used it some with this current save. My team does quite a bit of pressing, so I have ran a AF/PF combo to some success.
Somehow shithoused my way into beating RB Leipzig on pens to reach the champions league round of 16 I’m crying got offered a new contract and got commitments to improve youth and senior training facilities in the summer I may never leave really struggling to get goals from anyone I put in at striker right now though and I’m fuming about it
Finished the league in second but I won the Belgian cup In the end RB Leipzig got the last laugh as they triggered the 19.5 million dollar clause on my star defensive midfielder I’m really sad about it he’s still only 17 and only made 78 appearances for us, now I know how small clubs feel irl. With two trophies won I decided I can spend transfer money and got a really good young Spanish goal keeper for 4.2 million and two really good free transfers. I also have a 17 year old wingback and 18 year old striker ready to make the first team I just have to make my way through the champions league playoffs and I could be ok
Took Chester FC up from 5th tier to Premier League in successive seasons. Now in year 3 of the PL and in the Europa League. Barcelona got bounced from the CL and guess who got them in the first knockout round of the EL? Oh, and guess where Mbappe is currently playing? Yeah, they waxed me 8-3 aggregate. Although I do take some solace in drawing the home leg 3-3. (This is FM19 Touch so still the old CL format.) Currently sitting 3rd in the PL with 2 months to go. Bouncing between 3rd and 4th with United. So CL money may be in my future.
Yep we produced another one Got youth recruitment up to excellent as well so the next batch could be even better I’ve decided I’m only leaving for Ajax or Atletico Madrid if none come looking for me I’m staying at Oostende
Finished 4th. Started the next season and just got the draw for CL group stage. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS GROUP!? Barcelona Chester Porto Napoli Damn man. It is by far the hardest group
December of 2030, first in the league by 8 points, another 5 star youth intake preview Atletico Madrid are rumored to be interested in me as their next manager
I'm going to do the impossible. England offered me the job and I took it. Gentlemen, it's coming home.
Feels like it takes too much to move up into an icon or legend spot at a club I’m into October of the 31/32 season going into year 6 at Oostende. I’ve won the Belgian pro league twice, one Belgian Cup and a Belgian super cup and I’m still just favored personnel and I’m annoyed
Bilbao just offered me an interview and I am intrigued by an all basque champions league build using their youth setup and it would count since I’m planning on a trip to San Sebastián and Bilbao next year
Couldn’t do it, used Bilbao’s offer to get a bigger contract at Oostende starting to get attached to the youth players I’m developing
February of 2032, I’m leading the Belgian league by 15 points, in the Belgian Cup semi finals and the champions league playoff round. Club doesn’t really let me invest in transfers and I’ve only had one incoming transfer over 4 million since I’ve been there. youth intakes have been real mid despite investing in recruitment and facilities, if I win the league for a third time in four seasons and win the Belgian cup for the second time I am 90% sure I’m leaving for a new job in the summer when the euros happen and coaches start moving around a lot. Probably would have taken the Bilbao offer if they let me finish the season with Oostende, I hate leaving clubs mid season
Well I just got an insane youth intake including a 15 year old who is already 2.5 stars in current ability and three kids on the NXGN list including two in the top ten plus the number 5 kid is the DM I produced that RB Leipzig stole from me making it hard to leave
the youth setup I have is sick and the best I’ve ever built in my years of playing this game, if things pan out I’m about to win a domestic treble and I’m just not sure I can take this club further than that Plus it looks like we are about to get raided in the transfer window
Always jealous when I hear about great youth intakes. I don't think I've ever had a golden generation come through.
being the big fish in a little pond that’s known for developing top notch footballers and having a high determination skill so you can get the demands you make of the board is key Going to a Belgium, Portugal, or Netherlands is probably best for this imo
Seems like you need to keep putting money into that youth program and then leak to the media you need transfer money
my star 19 year old right back I developed who is locked into a 24.5 million dollar release clause is currently wanted by PSG, Ajax, Arsenal and Chelsea so I’m assuming he’s gone next demands I make are to upgrade our youth facilities from superb to state of the art and to get some affiliate clubs so we can pull prospects from another country
depends, when you’re a small club and the player is young with lots of potential the agent will typically make it mandatory I actually like it because it protects me, I’ve had big clubs try to low ball me on key young players and I’ve been able to point to the release clause and tell them to fuck off
So you are basically stuck in a cycle where the owners pocket all the money you are making them when players get sold.
yes and no, the club has been with me every time I’ve asked for better facilities and youth recruitment without too much push and they still give me enough budget to raid smaller clubs for potential wonderkids which has panned out, but up to this point they haven’t given me enough to like get a big signing my record signing up to the point is 7.5 million With how dominant I’ve been in Belgium it doesn’t bother me too much but I want to win a trophy in Europe and a bigger budget is mandatory for that so I will be asking for more soon
Well, I never thought winning a domestic treble in with a small club in a decent footballing nation like Belgium would feel so hollow. Season ends and the club immediately announces they’re spending 17 million on a 9k seat stadium expansion and renting a 60k seat stadium in Bruges for the season. As a result they’re not taking requests and my transfer budget starts out at negative 6.8 million. I just had to sit there in horror as my future star left back I found in Denmark gets his 15.75 million dollar clause activated by Roma and my right back who I developed in my academy who has been the gem of my youth set up gets his 24.5 million dollar clause activated by Brentford. I’m just sitting here with a negative transfer budget waiting for the deals to go through so I can go find new wing backs since I don’t have any coming up in my youth set up at all. The 2032 euros just ended and a few top nations have open jobs which is going to set off some coaching movements. My time at Oostende might be coming to an end, I’m depressed. fucking Brentford
I won them another Belgian Super Cup, still just favored personnel. Asked for an increase to payroll for this year and an increase to transfer budget next season and they denied both. I have resigned
I did yes and I’m glad I did because I took a year off and there weren’t any jobs available in that year that matched my vision for this challenge. Though I did take the Atletico Madrid job and made a save just in case I want that job so I am back at Oostende for the time being and it seems like if I want to stay true to my challenge and build up a youth academy first club in a country I have visited my only upward options would be Ajax, Bilbao, Monaco and like PSV or Feyernoord onwards we go
Club let me spend the proceeds of the three sales I made after we got over the negative 6.8 balance. Ended up with shout 34 million to spend and got a guarantee from the board that we will have a budget of 32 million next season. Im about to set my club record and trigger a ten million dollar release clause on a 4* PA 6’4 Icelandic center back playing for Hammarby in Sweden. I’m locked back in folks
Have any of you guys had experience retraining wingers into different positions? two of my most exciting recent academy grads both play AMR exclusively and one is only 16 so I’m hoping I can maybe retrain him
Have no idea how my youth recruitment team found this kid in from a rural town in northern Italy and convinced him to come to our academy but he’s officially my starting right winger until he asks to leave he’s been a god. have him locked into a 28 million dollar release but I’m willing to pay him more to pump that up as he’s probably worth 35-40
Think my new goal in this save is to build Oostende into a top ten academy in the world, take the Belgium job, bring a euros and a World Cup to Belgium with an all Oostende academy grad team and then retire as the greatest thing that’s ever happened to the nation of Belgium
