Fear mongering still about 3 Mile Island isn't a good thing if we really want to reduce our carbon emissions.
It's always been an amazing thing to me how quickly people are scared of the cleanest energy production process ever discovered
That's more of a political problem and it pales in comparison to things like coal ash, other toxic waste being disposed of near humans, etc. It's not nothing, but it can be stored safely if there's an actual effort to work on a disposal facility somewhere.
Seems like even purpose-built superfacilities like Yucca Mountain have some concerns because you’re inherently dealing in shit that lasts longer than any container. Definitely better than oil gas and coal, but all things considered I think focus ought to be on wind/solar storage over new nuclear capacity.
I don't disagree as building a new current generation nuclear site is freakishly expensive and takes years, but solar and wind aren't enough yet to bridge the gap in trying to become carbon free with generating our daily electric demands.
I think it's fair to say that nuclear can be safe but seemingly not in the past economic climate and possibly not in the current one
Germany getting ooga booga-ed away from nuclear and back to coal was an absolutely stunning show of stupidity.
Yeah, I'm not in favor of putting a load of nuclear waste onboard on of Elon's rockets, or NASA's rockets for that matter. The potential for catastrophe is far too great.
That's literally how they fucking sting you. If you're in any shallow water where rays or skates could be, you're supposed to take small steps and shuffle your feet. I've seen some dumb shit in this thread and that video is one of the worst that I can recall.
I get what you are saying but I enjoyed it a lot. I think we might want to keep that information low key so we can enjoy more videos like this one.
They haven't started the decommissioning process that removes equipment yet so it's minimal effort to get a relatively up to date plant back up and running If those operators knew about steam tables and basic steam properties we wouldn't have had that issue. like 6-8 months prior a similar issue happened at davis besse. Not true at all. They want "clean energy"
We have had 3 data centers come in here in the past 4 years and they're purchasing power from us at 150 MWe a clip because we are nuclear. We also have a Google data center coming in that's a 2 billion dollar investment for clean energy in our area that we're going to have to build some direct lines to.
I guess I'll drop the hint that TMI also means "Too Much Information". Sorry if my humor is a little too dry for *checks notes* a pressurized water nuclear reactor conversation.
that wreck drew so much unwanted attention he actually got perma'd from Kick which is ostensibly as difficult as being a chud and getting banned from Twitter.
