Why can you think he's a shit person after your reasonable attempts to engage and inform him, but he can't think people who spread anti-vax information and hurt people after reasonable attempts to engage and inform them are shit people?
My stance is try and understand shit you don’t understand and at the least don’t dance on their graves. His response to me is that I’m not actually genuine and that I only do this because I know shit people that I’m subconsciously taking up for. There might not be a poster on this board who has removed more people from their life due to differences of opinion than I have. I’m sincere with how I believe and shitting on that pisses me off. He doesn’t know me at all
That doesn't answer my question at all. You're not giving him a break for the EXACT behavior that you say he should give to covid conspiracy spreaders.
i try and understand things i don't constantly, but the civility policing around chuckling at people asking for death and getting it is just too cute for me
Guy who is preachy on the internet = piece of shit. Calling people pieces of shit who are actively killing innocent people = out of bounds. That's a weird line.
You don’t have to give me the benefit of the doubt. My POV is what it is. I want what’s best for everyone and with that idea I feel like what’s best for everyone fixes shit like antivaxx bullshit and racism and homophobia. You calling me a moron or not having a set of ideals based on my own built perspective is trash.
I totally agree that the folk that are pushing against vaccines and whatnot are absolutely wrong. I will never argue against it and I’m constantly in my real life trying to convince them to change course. My issue is celebrating their deaths without taking into account all the shit that led them to be who they are
over here in reality where everyone being on the same page isn't happening, the next best solution is the people propagating this not doing so we all acknowledge the various systemic issues, but that doesn't absolve the individual from any responsibility either. especially with what we know about anti-vax ideology.
I just think they don’t understand because of all the misinformation thrown their way. It’s no coincidence that the US has the biggest problem with this issue
I don’t absolve them of anything. I just think a 20 page thread LOLn at people who may be bad and may be dumb is not a good look for a board I’ve made my home
This isn’t about absolving them of responsibility.. it’s about trying to see things from all angles. Not celebrating the deaths of folk who’d probably be alive if they were subject to the policy that most of us here believe would change the landscape
They are actively killing people. It would be better for them to die than to give it to innocent people and kill them.
how many people on this board have had family members die or get sick in part or explicitly because of anti-vaxxers, had their lives upended to this destructive behavior
what if I can understand all those angles and think chuckling at them dying is like a 1/10 on the outrage police scale but also, what policy do you think fixes anti-vax? knowing demographically what we know?
They’re killing people because our government and our media has created mass confusion and we aren’t an educated enough society to make decisions that make sense. Some are awful, some are just misled. I’d rather not parse through that
Tonight on Tucker Carlson: let’s examine why mainstream media is causing good, salt of the earth people to not get vaccinated and what “doctors” aren’t telling you about Ivermectin. Let’s talk to our first guest TrustyPatches.
Great. Write your senator or something. In the interim, it is objectively good when these people die, because they cannot infect other people (either actually or mentally).
250+ ppl a day are dying from Covid in Texas alone. In large part because of people actively sharing disinformation. Whether that is from radio, TV, or someones facebook feed it does not really matter. Once again, this thread is about the people that are actively spreading disinformation and winning their fucking prize. How many more people have to die due to their spread of misinformation? Most the people in this thread have said enough already. Sorry that ~600k plus needless deaths is not enough to trigger you yet. Maybe if 1,000,000 more die it will be justifiable in your mind to finally be relieved that they can not spread bullshit among the masses anymore. If you walk into a mall and unload a semi-automatic rifle into a crowd of people, I do not give a shit what you experienced to get to that wrong decision. The action is proof that you are not fit to intermingle with society. The people highlighted in this thread are no different.
they ARE educated to a degree, the best predictor of trump voter (the least likely to be vaxxed) is above average income and being a white male with high levels of racial resentment and some college or less
i think something people miss is that a certain section, of yes even educated people, that are highly compensated reject expertise. as that income increases it gets worse and worse.
They’ve been educated. They reject it. They actively spread the idea that others should reject education. They aren’t victims. They’re the problem.
There’s a difference between being educated on a subject and being educated in general. The more you read and learn the more likely you are to be empathetic twords your fellow man. Our country (since the 60s) has systematically torn down our education system. The less educated you are, the easier you are to control.
They are the same people that demonize expertise and higher education in general though. Again, these people are the exact reason we can’t have an educated populace. They are the problem.
My POV is that America sucks and that if it didn’t suck it’s people wouldn’t be so shitty. I try and keep that in mind before I laugh at folk who maybe left children without parents or left families broken. It doesn’t make us better. The things I want do
I never experienced a class in any education system at any level or received any guidance from the government that said “ignore science, disregard people dying around you as a conspiracy, and eat your horse paste.” So in this matter, the system is not to blame, it is the individuals and their “choice” to do whatever they want that is to blame.
God damnit stop replying to tp. The next post isn't moving the needle neither is the one after that. It is just like the anit vaxers. They aren't changing their opinion. He's dug in as am I. Fuck em
These people reject reality. You cannot reason them to moving forward in their own interest. They’re rejecting science and killing themselves because of it and they still aren’t changing, for Christ’s sake. They tried to overthrow the government and will of the majority of their fellow Americans. They don’t view anyone that voted for a democrat as a legitimate American. Your good will is unilateral and causes as much trouble as their idiocy. They need to be treated as the opposition that they insist on being. Did you watch The Good Place? Because you’re coming off as one of the good place committee members right now.
There is no belief or not. We know facts. They’re not disputed by anyone with meaningful credentials. 99% of people choosing to disregard these things is doing so out of ill intent toward the people or reputations of people they disagree with on other things. Then to take it a step further, most of those people are spreading harm. Could be physical transmission or misinformation leading to a lack of protection. In literally any other situation where harm is a possibility these bozos are the first to cry for imprisonment or death. This one very specific scenario is the one time ever that there just happens to be no proof of harm? GTFO with the defense of that bullshit.
Would they have tried to overthrow the government if it weren’t for the nudge they got from the trumps, gaetz, greens of the world? Hell, if Bernie got busy frfr I might even show up and show out. You defended revolutionary action earlier itt. We are a deeply right leaning society and it’s gonna take a lot to wash that clean.
