Great win to start the year. Except for a few gaffs, defense looked solid. Hope its the start of a promotion year.
Okay, so the way too early to tell assessment of what I saw today. And obviously this is before we finish out the transfer window and I expect them to add 2 or 3 more contributors. Ayite - I love what he adds. Pace off the edge. A bit of skill. Pressure. Got a couple shots off. I dig it. He's like what Kačaniklić could never figure of ut to be. Button - played well. An obvious upgrade. Commanded the box well. Made a couple dumb kicks but nothing to complain about. Cairney - will be the solid player he was last year. The back four - we'll just group them together. Played better as a group than anything we've seen in two or three years. Aluko - I thought added a bunch of what Ayite added but he was a bit harder to grade out. Odoi - for the most part thought was a liability. And then in the last 10 mins he made that sweet skill move and had tons of energy to win a couple balls when Newcastle was pushing. Probably a C+. Pushed the ball okay but made some dumb defensive errors. Parker - is old and still tucks his shirt in. What a guy. Christensen - hard to waste a better ball than that. Terrible miss. Still, I think by year end he'll be a consistent player up front. Smith - he did what a 6'6" guy should do. Post up and put away the balls that come your way. Made a nice little headed pass who Ayite who I think probably just wasn't expecting the ball. He probably should've just headed it towards goal but I appreciate the creative attempt at the pass which could've lead to a good finish. He played well.
I did say I expected big things this year from Woodrow! Perfect result, advance with a team full of reserves. Let the starters rest for the next league game. Love to see some real youth get time. Adeniran, Edun, Sessegnon, and De La Torre
I'd rate the start of this season as Enjoyable to Quite Enjoyable Anyone considering heading to a match this season? I still have an annual vacation flight left this year on my flight benefits so I'm thinking about using it for a soccer weekend trying to catch as many London-area matches as I can in a three day period. The weekend of Nov 19 seems like a possibility because the Saints have a Thursday night game (at the Panthers 4 days after playing the Broncos ), LSU plays a rent-a-win (sorry dblplay1212) and we play at home against Sheffield Wednesday.
94 min game. Gave up tying goal in min 93. So old and frustrating. On the plus side it appears that they controlled the majority of the game.
Saw a clip of the Cairney goal, it was pretty spectacular. Was hoping giving up goals in stoppage time was not going to be as bad as last season, but in the end, top of the table and any of us would have killed for 7pts from the first three games.
2-2 final. Listened to the game online. Dominated the game with the exception of 6 minutes so pretty disappointing to only get one point. Ayite went off in the first half with a hamstring, hopefully not serious. On the bright side, sessignon came on for him and got his first goal at 16 years old. Please god do not sell this kid.
Couple new additions today. However, this is out there. Which is frustrating. http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fulham-boss-quit-claims-three-11786409
The fee was 3.8. I don't know much about him either. Former PSG player. Genk bought him for 3.2 just last year. I've heard he scores quite a bit from the wing. Slav wanted to get Asomoah Gyan from Sunderland on loan but his wage was too high so that fell apart yesterday.
Cairney! 90' +4! Finally we ruin somebody else's day in extra time. Newcastle's win over Brighton allows us to jump from 5th to 2nd. It's early but damn, this is a welcome start. This squad has some scrap to em.
Fine with the stearman move. He probably would have only really played in cup games going forward. The adebayor thing is intriguing though. He's getting old but that would give us that different type of striker we are missing.
Not sure if that's good or not. A few things on X&Y sounded ok, but his last decent collection of work was Clocks. Anything more recent has sucked.
Fulham get Lucas Paizon from Chelsea on loan until January and get Chris Martin for the rest of the season with an option to buy. Hearing the Adebayor deal isn't going to happen.
Eh, I don't know. Martin's had like 54 goals over the last three seasons and depth was the more important issue here over style. They got somebody who is a proven scorer to fill a void.
Sessegnon with the very late equalizer. 1 pt from 2 home games against one average and one shit team is pretty disappointing though.
Still unbeaten on the road, but going to slide fast if we don't start getting some wins. Didn't realize Bendtner was playing for forrest now. That guy has fallen a long way.
I saw they were down 2-0 at the half. At least they showed some moxy and got the draw. They're hanging around.
5 of the next 6 are against teams above us in the table. Could be a great opportunity, but I feel like it wont be a good run.
