That Kate Middleton conversation was about as good as it gets. Strong bounce back following all the Grateful Dead slander.
I finally read Jason Kirk's book (Hell is a World Without You) and I can't recommend it enough. If you were in youth group in the late 90s/ early 00s (it's set from 2000-2004), there's going to be a lot of familiar themes.
I randomly got a LinkedIn notification they had a live show on it last week. Hope they aren’t moving there permanently.
Asking jets fans if they would trade a playoff appearance for osama bin Laden again had me absolutely dying
I can’t remember their explanation now, maybe they rushed the snap because they didn’t spike it or something like that
I don’t think the Fullcast has ever existed when Tennessee wasn’t bad and it has really brought out the worst in how annoying Holly can be
Man I love split zine duo but Richard’s predictions are universally wrong. I’m gonna start fading him.
I don't think so. It has been discussed in the podcast thread at times. Mostly about how much people hate Godfrey.
One of the best episodes in a long time. Pocket sand The ATM moms driving back to Katy huffing and puffing about what they saw The Narduzzi stuff I was hooting
Sorry for not knowing , I would just like to know what is that good national pod. After that you can ridicule me all you want
You are posting in the thread discussing the worlds only college football podcast. Not sure what you could be referring to.
i was not referring to anything, I just wanted to know what podcast steamengine was talking about. And it’s the shutdown full cast, I finally found it…not thanks to any of you
It's a bit Spencer does on the opening "you are listening to the worlds only college football podcast"
I know Godfrey can be pretty divisive but I generally really like him. Him taking a step back will probably lead to me canceling my Substack next year when it comes up. I really like Richard a lot, I just don’t think Alex brings anything to the table.
I like Alex / Richard doing the re cap shows together and I’m a sicko but I like Single Wing when Godfrey is by himself and his thoughts can wander. He cares less about what happens on the field and more about how what happens off the field impacts the games. It’s a unique niche Alex is good doing his historical / research thing. His ball knowledge is lacking
Godfrey hasn’t bothered me because he has always been honest about being a crotchety asshole who thinks he’s smarter than everyone, plus he’s super connected and gets good info. Richard is legitimately entertaining and seems like would be a good hang, plus his ability to break down Xs and Os to an idiot like me is appreciated. Plus he seems like he’s super connected among younger coaches. I genuinely don’t know what Alex adds. He’s smug and annoying, and unlike Godfrey he tries to hide it. He’s neither good at breaking down film nor is he connected in the coaching world. He just wants to whine and lecture.
I think Bud nailed it, his historical narrative stuff is really good. But definitely not a ball knower. Hoping with Godfrey less involved they rely on more guests. Richard and Alex by themselves will probably get pretty stale, especially in the offseason IMO. My sub re-upped in December so I’m giving it another year to see how it goes. Every national college football podcast is deeply flawed for one reason or another since there are so many blowhards just repeating the same dumb narratives I appreciate that SZD at least tries to bring something different to the table.
I missed the godfrey stepping back episode but seemed to be coming. Not a godfrey fan but he filled a good role on the show. His prickish cynicism often spilled into his treatment of the other 2. He started appearing more on other podcasts so could be a money thing.
I believe it was the episode right before the new year that he mentioned that he has way too many projects and will only be on 1 episode a month during the offseason.
