Arizona St and Okie State home-home 2022-23 Sun Devils and LSU postponed their matchup for the 2nd time. Now scheduled Tempe 2026, Baton Rouge 2029.
They're also playing at Tulane sometime in the near future. I said this in the G5 thread, but I think you'll see more P5 teams sign 2-1 or 1-1 deals with mid majors. As opposed to shelling out big bucks for a 1 and done series. That being said, I thought that most of the programs doing that would be mid to lower level P5s. Not Oklahoma. Edit: did a quick run through FBschedules. 48/65 power 5 schools have a G5 road game sometime in the future. Obviously, there's a difference between Cincinnati and Charlotte (they have 1-1s with both UNC and Wake) but that gives you a decent idea of what I'm talking about. (Clemson, Kansas State, Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Nebraska, USC, Washington, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame are your schools who are not traveling to a G5)
That's not awful, at least Philly is a major metro area. At least they aren't Miami going to Boone, NC this year.
If you are going to play an away game against a team like Temple, you may as well play one in your region and/or recruiting base.
Our home and home with Michigan cancelled due to the Michigan/ND rivalry being renewed :( Hope we replace it with Stanford or another Texas school like Houston or something
Oklahoma doesn't need any help selling themselves in their region. But exposure in and around NJ/PA/DMV provides some exposure in a potentially lucrative area.
the fact that miami somehow got roped into that game still absolutely baffles me app state stadium is so small. football games are really fun and app is a solid mid major program jesus h miami playing there is mind blowing
They also played at FAU last year. Next year they travel to Jonesboro to play Arkansas State. In 2018 they play at Toledo. Who the hell thought any of that was a good idea?
oh shit my dad is an arky state grad. may try to plan a trip for that game. i believe mizzou played in jonesboro last year i just dont see what there is to gain by playing at app. first off, theyre a pretty damn good program so the chance of losing is legit. if you win, no one cares bc youre supposed to. you could get some snow and have problems with that. its not like it is exposure to the nc market bc boone is in the middle of nowhere. plus youre already playing games at state/duke/unc anyways. i dont get it
yeah by far. gorgeous facility especially if they end up ditching the track and closing in the open end with seats. would like to go but not trying to drop $300 for tickets i dont think he could name the coach or a single player on the team so i wouldnt exactly call him a fan
My guess is that they are doing home and homes with these G5 teams is that they don't want to pay out a high guaranteed fee due to poor attendance.
I'll probably go to one of those. I plan on making the LSU trip this year. Undecided if I'm going to Neyland next year. Looks like we'll get a good payout, which is nice.
LSU, Bama, ND, UCLA, Clemson, Michigan should all win pretty handily, which kinda sucks. Wish they were better games. FSU/OM might be the best game
maybe I'm a bit biased but I think you can have a good time tailgating in State College in September if you make the trip I'm looking forward to checking out the Plains
He's walking the thinnest of lines at this point. This was supposed to be "the" year for him, before he and Spav fucked up the QB situation. But there's a good amount of talent most everywhere else. Just no telling what we'll get from Trevor Knight.
