Ya I'm pretty pissed about that at the moment. It's at 44.5. Vegaskyle was steaming over on the other board. Said something along the lines of he always waits for thursday night o/u throws and doesn't know why he got it early. It may hit 45 which is a key # (think 24-21) which would really piss me off. I like it either way tho. Prolly not touching Clemson

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

Love the Cincy play. I am thinking about a big throw, possibly the free play on Va. Tech if I can get it at -3.5. They are way to much for Nebraska at home.

It's at 3.5 everywhere. I really want that at -3 tho. VT is tough at home. Also love their special teams edge. Nebraska is about to face their first team with a pulse in a hostile environment with a QB making his first career road start. I wish it was a night game too. Fritz is gonna be all over this isn't he

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

    Just a note:

A lot of the lines I've gotten so far this week have moved in my favor:

Navy +7 at Pittsburgh at +6.5
Cincinnati +1.5 at Oregon St at pk
Florida St +7.5 at BYU at +7
Iowa State -2.5 at Kent State at -3
San Jose St +18 at Stanford at +17
Kentucky -13 vs Louisville at -13.5

    :beerchug:

The only one to move in the opposite direction is Mississippi St from +8 to +9 and this happened in the last 4 hours. Don't know why tho.

    just my 2 cents:

VT cannot throw the ball, at all. Nebraska has a top 5 rush defense this season...and has more ability to move the ball than Alabama brings to the table...Nebraska is looking like the most underrated team in the nation at this point and VT is still getting love from a preseason ranking that was unjustified. Lane is probably the toughest place to play in the country...so it makes sense they'd be laying points, from a Casino POV.....but Nebraska is the better team.

as for UC @ OSU....UC is probably better coached than UNC....and certainly Edsall at UCONN had a clear advantage in that game...while this game the coaching is about even.....however, this line stands out as the most odd, and is looking like a major sucker play on the Bearcats..

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

Ya I'm probably staying away from VT. Or just a small play. It's a pretty public play as you mentioned and lines dropped from -4 to -3.5. Also the Greek left it at -3 -115 a lot longer than I expected. It's like they're begging for money on VT. I feel the same about Texas sitting at 16.5 this whole time.

As far as Cincinnati is concerned, I knew right away that the line was probably a top 2 public play this week (same with Cal -14). Simply put I like it way too much to not play it. The beavers are very strong at home but Kelly's team this year is already what I would consider road tested (see: slaughter at opening of renovated Rutgers stadium). If they lose so be it, but I love how the team is coached. I like Cincy passing vs OSU secondary and I think Kelly finds a way to shut down the Rodgers brothers.

    Anything you're preliminarily looking at?

Orgeon initially stands out to me...Utah still getting way too much love....this team is 4 loss at best in any other conference...
FSU getting over a TD against the most overrated team in the country.....I LOVE that FSU almost lost to Jax St....couldn't have been more help.
Minnesota...CAL struggles on the road against BCS teams.

*just to give you an idea of how overrated Utah is....last week they were -14.5 to SJSU...this week Stanford is -17 to the same team...That means, at best UTAH and Stanford are rated close to equal...no one in the media or anywhere else would suggest Utah being not much better than Stanford...overrated.

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

Prints, I understand what you are saying. This may be more of a heart/gut/hatred play than anything else for me. I loved the game last year and didn't play it due to the amount of points they were laying on the road (8 or 9 if I recall?) I still liked it but never pulled the trigger. I waited all summer for this game and said if it's under 6 I would take it for my $50 free play. So I did.

I am not saying it's my most confident play ever, but I still love Tech at home in this one. They really thought they were title contenders this year had they gotten that win versus Bama. I just don't see Nebraska going into that hostile of an environment after having two cakewalks at home. Tech has already played on the road (neutral) versus the best D they will face all year. I guess I just haven't bought into the Nebraska hype yet. Also they are one of 2 teams in the BCS conference to not beat a team ranked above 20 since 02-03 season (them and Duke, correct me if I'm wrong). They haven't done shit in a big game since I can remember.

Nah I understand. What are your thoughts on the Florida-Tennessee game? This was another one of those games I looked at this summer and thought if it is under 35 I might have to check it out. We obviously know it's under that but how much do you put into the "pissed off, we owe them, yada yada," I am probably not going to touch this, but what are your thoughts on the game?

don't bet against Urban Meyer...he's one of the few coaches that actually is aware of the spread and plays to it....only time they don't cover is if they lose outright....I don't think UT is beating them.

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

Been a rough first 3 weeks. I don't know what my posted plays are but my overall record is 11-21 down 13 units.

Thankfully I still have a large portion of my bankroll remaining as I haven't gotten too crazy with units.

Last week fucked me as my big bet Kentucky failed to manage the clock before halftime and didn't get a fg or td up 17-7. The bet looked great until the cats decided to turn the ball over 3 times in the 3rd quarter on a KR fumble, int, and another fumble.

Nevada managed to turn the ball over 5 times and have 11 turnovers.

Akron's starting QB was suspended friday for the Saturday game, and San Jose St gave up a KR TD to start the game, int for a TD, and a punt return for a TD. I managed to not cover by a TD. Bad luck.

Anyway on to this weeks plays: All bets to win * with the current line in parathenses

    Ole Miss -3 (-3.5)
    Minnesota +1 at Northwestern (+2)
Southern Miss +13 at Kansas (+13.5)
    Temple -2.5 vs Buffalo (-2.5)
San Diego St +17 (-120) at Air Force (+16.5)

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

    Solid numbers.

Ya apparently not such a good week for line movement. That's the chance I take jumping on them early tho. Last week worked out pretty well this week not so much. East Carolina at 3 hurts as does Colorado St at -3 (-110). Other than that can't say I'm too upset...got good movement on Nevada and Ark from -2 to a PK is pretty fucking worthless. I think they'll win and I think it'll be by more than 2 points so :idk: I doubt FSU drops below 4 but whatever. I like that game at anything below 7.

BET JM is being pretty faggy. O/U last week came out on Wednesday morning so I don't know why they didn't today.

    I want to play

    ISU O46 47.5
    NW Purdue U58 57
    Idaho O 52 57
    Temple U51 47
    LSU U 53.5 52.5
    TCU O47 48.5

    :killme:

Each line has moved at least a point the other direction. Idaho and temple may be no throws b/c not sure I'm comfortable crossing some of those numbers...same with crossing 48 with TCU.

Shit is gay. Strongly considering depositing on Bookmaker next year who had lines out Tuesday at like 6 pm.

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

Added PSU -7... I think they are pissed, and are a better team then they showed Saturday night. Especially their offense.

17 of 30: The Illini rank either 10th or 11th in the Big Ten in 17 of the 30 team stats that the conference tracks, including scoring offense, scoring defense, total offense, total defense, pass offense and pass defense.

While the defensive issues are disappointing, the offensive struggles are downright shocking – especially when you consider that the Illini returned 92.7 percent of the offensive yards from a team that had 67 plays of 20 yards or longer last year, second most in the Big Ten.

8: Through three games, the Illini have just eight offensive plays of 20 yards or longer. Seven of those came against FCS (I-AA) opponent Illinois State, with the other one coming against Missouri. Through three games last year, the Illini had 20 plays of 20 yards or longer including nine against Mizzou.

Re: Gatorfromiowa's Season Long CFB Picks

    WVU -16.5 RECAP

Well last night was disappointing to say the least. WVU is a bet I make 100% of the time knowing what I knew before hand and after watching the game I'll stand by that thought. CU backers congrats but you were on the wrong side and if you keep reading I think you'll agree. I'd grade this bet an A or a B.

The bet was lost in the first half do to a lack of focus. From the first play of the game, Brown missed a WR who had 15 yards on anyone for a TD. Granted the next play was a 77 yard Devine TD but that's not the point. CU backers will say that Colorado missed 2 legit field goal attempts from 40 and 45 yards (hardly a guarantee) and the 3rd was just dumb), but that accounts for 3 points on average b/c the kicker isn't very good so I'll say 1/2 good for 3 points.

WVU on the other hand fumbled first at their own 34 which resulted in the missed 45 yard FG. The second fumble happened at the Colorado 15 yard line. The 3rd fumble happened at the Colorado 20 yard line. Given how WVU was able to score TDs and not field goals the rest of the game I think that those 2 possessions typically end in 14 points but let's say they average 10 on those two fumbles. Finally a WVU LB intercepted a CU pass with the game tied at 7 and then proceeded to fumble for the 4th time of the game. This allowed the CU drive to continue and ultimately led to a CU field goal.

So by my math the mistakes in the first half look like this: CU +3 for 1/2 field goals....WVU +10 for 2 fumbles in the red zone...CU -3 for WVU fumble.

WVU still led at half 14-10 when the score could've easily been 24-10 or 24-7.

Now before you say "CU threw 3 ints what about that?" I'll simply say Cody Hawkins is good for roughly 2 INTs per game and 1 of the INTs was given right back to CU by the WVU fumble so in all reality Hawkins did what he normally does which is turn the ball over 2 times.

Second half was a roller coaster. Brown again missed a wide open WR for a touchdown on a possession that led to no points  I will say this though. Due to the mistakes of the first half I was not expecting to win the bet while watching it in the second half. WVU had the ball with 6:00 to play at their own 40 yard line. It became painfully obvious they weren't going to pass or try to score...rather bleed the clock. At this point, the bet was a loss.

CU gets the ball back with 3:30 left and makes what I believe to be a smart coaching decision by going for it on 4th down from their own 15. It was a 2 possession game with plenty of time left and Hawkins would've gotten just killed for punting. So WVU stops CU, gets the ball and two plays later I'm covering.

The main question now becomes "why with 2 min left in a game down 3 scores would CU put their starting QB back on the field?" Especially after Cody Hawkins almost got killed in a similar situation earlier in the year that left people wondering why he was in the game.

So CU has no TO ball at their own 27 and drives 73 yards. They complete a 3rd and 25 and a jump ball fade pass with :03 seconds left as everyone is well aware.

Congrats to the CU backers but I will say this. You were on the wrong side based on the reasons discussed about the first half. If you care to disagree, ask yourself this question "Would you bet CU again if the same 2 teams played at WVU next week?" I don't believe that an honest person can say yes.

I'd bet WVU everytime and I think it covers at least 60% of the time. That's all I can ask for. I know that no one will probably read this, but that was a tough beat and I needed to do this recap to let go of the game. Self-therapy if you will.

GL to everyone this weekend :beerchug:

Ya pretty shitty deal all around but I can't complain as I lucked out in the Toledo and Indiana games. I guess that'll just show what can happen when I don't get the number (46) that I should've had. Bet Jamaica really needs to open their o/u faster. Shit is gay.

CSU blew it last night after being up 14-0 and 20-10 at half, so 11-5 on the day. Up like 5 units.

Bengals just had an XP blocked to take the lead with less than 2 to play. They'll prolly end up losing and fucking up 3 of my teasers. :killme: Two XP blocks this week to lose bets perhaps.
