I watched 2 movies this week, animal kingdom and no way out and both had terrific RT scores and thought 1 was mediocre and the latter downright terrible. Animal kingdom had great cast but dumb plot and no way out had nothing but Kevin Costner in his prime and great 80s titties. No way out had one of the worst plots of any movie ever, how on earth was it 90% +
Triangle of Sadness was a wild ride. One of my favs of the year. Highly recommend if the trailer piques your interest
My score on RT for the best movie I have ever watched? A thumbs up. My score for the worst movie I've ever watched but still liked? A thumbs up. The same score, but the second movie is nowhere near as good as the first.
I've never been the biggest Cronenberg fan but at least usually find his movies intriguing. Just saw Crimes of the Future. Awful
So good and really underrated. Love the club scene. I like pretty much anything Mann has done. A lot of people hate on Miami Vice but I loved it.
This is my favorite movie person on YouTube. I really like her recco's and have posted her videos before, but she full on sold me on Tár.
It’s one of the more incredible films I’ve seen in years. I saw it on Tuesday and I’m probably going to try to go back a few times while it’s in theaters. I highly recommend you see it in theaters. And Blanchett is a slam dunk for the best actress Oscar
Really loved this movie, my friend just asked if I wanted to see a movie with him and I didnt look at a trailer or anything and was very confused for five minutes but enjoyed it immensely
This is new to me. Nicolas Cage was set to be Superman. Would’ve loved to see Tim Burton’s version tho.
He named his son Kal-El because of it. He wasn’t ever supposed to actually do any Superman stuff in the movie. It was Kevin Smith and supposed to be directed by Tim Burton
There is, but Kevin Smith also has a very funny breakdown of his intro into the project. These are kinda long, but a very worthwhile watch with an incredible payoff at the end. Jon Peters is an absolute lunatic, makes Bradley Cooper’s performance in Licorice Pizza that much more hilarious.
For sure on Blanchett. The rest? Ehhhh idk. It found itself in a really weird spot where it bit off more than it could chew for a proper theatrical release. Bergman did that shit with Fanny and Alexander, but knew he needed more than three hours, so filmed it outside of theatrical guidelines. I would’ve been entirely fine sitting for another hour or two for this move to wrap up properly, but it just kinda sat in limbo towards the end and rushed across the 3 hour finish line.
banshees of inisherin was fantastic. gleeson and farrell have such good chemistry together, they should make a movie together every year
Thought it was excellent. Gleeson and Farrell were both great along with everyone else in it. I only really know Kerry Condon from Better Call Saul but she was really good too. Hopefully this gets some Oscar recognition.
That pool party scene at Dr. Demento's was ridiculous, best cameo onslaught since maybe the rumble in Anchorman.
just watched Barbarian because i'm home sick and solo. liked it a lot Spoiler liked the first half much better than the 2nd. the simple tension between the two airbnb guests was done well, where-as the second-half felt overstuffed.
I’ll call this a Peter Stormare appreciation post. The man is good in everything. Just happened to rewatch Constantine on HBO max, and his performance as Lucifer is probably the GOAT Satan portrayal on-screen (as brief as it was). Can clearly see how Heath Ledger said it influenced his take on the Joker. Basically Stormare’s Satan mixed with a little Tom Waits. Searched to see what else he’s been in lately and came across a recent photo. Looks almost like he’s preparing to play a retired version of Aaron Rodgers or something lol. Spoiler
