I very much enjoyed Nosferatu, Eggers is pretty much must watch at this point. Cinematography was outstanding. Really good acting performances and at the end of the day, the one thing that rings true is that something certain is always undefeated…
First off, these are actual fighting words. Beyond that, it’s only barely an homage to the original, and that homage comes at the buildup to the climax, and was very well done in that regard. I think Eggers did a great job with it. Clearly it’s not going to be a direct remake of the original, because in terms of genre, the original could basically be presented as a Disney flick (aside from our attention deficit populous being unable to sit through it).
I'm a sucker for revenge stuff, so this was right up my street. After 20 years away, Odysseus (Fiennes) washes up on the shores of Ithaca, haggard and unrecognizable. The King has returned from the Trojan War, but much has changed in his kingdom. His beloved wife Penelope (Binoche) is a prisoner in her own home, hounded by suitors vying to be king. Their son Telemachus faces death at the hands of these suitors, who see him as merely an obstacle to their pursuit of the kingdom. Odysseus has also changed—scarred by his experience of the Trojan war, he is no longer the mighty warrior from years past— but he must rediscover his strength in order to win back all he has lost.
Thought Nosferatu was pretty great. Sagged a bit in the middle, but was a feast for the senses and great performances all around.
Liked Nosferatu a lot, didn't love it. Think my expectations were a bit too high, but Eggers remains one of my favorite filmmakers.
Saw Nosferatu last night and enjoyed it, I’ve seen very few Dracula movies fwiw. Willem Dafoe is a treasure.
my brother liked that movie and said The Return was pretty good all things considered haven't seen it myself tho.
For a more agreeable opinion, watched Vertigo for the first time since I watched it with my dad as a kid and.... jesus, what a movie. The best technicolor has ever looked and one of the best scores I've ever heard.
The Ernie's scene where he first sees Kim Novak in the green dress. I jumped up off the couch. Guess I need to watch Rear Window again
Vertigo gets all the plaudit but RW is easily my favorite Hitchcock. If you haven’t seen any of Kurosawa’s color work, definitely give something like Ran a watch.
Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains and Automobiles today with family. John Candy was such a spectacular presence.
Really enjoyed Nosferatu. Didn’t think it was as good as The VVitch but I need to rewatch multiple times. Definitely could’ve trimmed some fat from the middle, and I thought the ending was a bit rushed all things considered, but overall I felt like it did a really nice job capturing the overall gothic feel and the costume/set design and cinematography were fantastic. Certainly one to be appreciated on the big screen. Also fantastic Spoiler horse girl .
Another thing about Nosferatu: if you want to see it, I'd recommend seeing it in a theater if you can. It's a very, very dark movie that will probably look like booty when steamed in anything other than a dark room
The only other one I’ve seen is the one from this year which is also very good, albeit a tough watch.
She’s weird because she’s Uber famous now but I think she’s just a millennial hipster. She was a semi known entity over a decade ago

This looks good. Synopsis: 12-year-old Bailey lives with her single dad Bug and brother Hunter in a squat in North Kent. Bug doesn't have much time for his kids and Bailey who is approaching puberty seeks attention and adventure elsewhere.
have a rare night without the wife and kids should I see Nosferatu or A Complete Unknown? leaning Complete Unknown because I’m a Bobcat and currently across the street from where I’d see it. plus Nosferatu seems spooky and I’ll be alone when I get home. Not generally into music biopics but will make an exception for Dylan. edit: my wife would be somewhat upset I saw Complete Unknown without her
It’s available on Mubi rn for any other sickos that have Mubi Edit: it does have fairly mid reviews but I haven’t watched yet
