I think the point is that every table is different. At ours, there's a mix of intensity and comedic relief. Having a cut-and-dry notion of how it is rather than co-creating something unique sucks. I don't blame them, but Vox Machina and things like it have affected how new folks approach the game.
When we have “cameos” from friends as new folks… we just really haze them into our way of life or turn them into a hot dog and feed them to some upset creature . It is the way
respect. I've had a small game with the same group of dudes off and on since 1998. the rotation in and out during that time has been interesting as D&D has gotten more popular. I'd say the biggest spike came with Stranger Things. But yeah, cool shit.
I bring good news for the Wes Anderson heads, Asteroid City first impressions/reviews from Cannes seems very positive
What's the best Wes outside of Tennenbaums? Not really my thing but I'm interested in Asteroid City and plan on seeing it. Did not love Isle of Dogs or Life Aquatic.
Think it was the first major motion picture done in the digital format. In 2004 I'm sure the tech was still somewhat limited.
My youngest daughter watched Fantastic Mr Fox a million times when she was a kid. Now that she’s older I’ve got to back through Anderson’s catalog with her and she’s enjoyed every second of it
Tiers* (1) Grand Budapest (Fiennes is so fucking funny in this movie) Royal Tenebaums Rushmore Mr. Fox (2) Moonrise Kingdom Bottle Rocket French Dispatch (3) Isle of Dogs Darjeeling Life Aquatic *this stuff is extremely subjective. Even the lowest rated movie is still extremely enjoyable and funny. I really like every movie in tier 3, especially Darjeeling
pederast? I thought the whole point is that he boned old ladies and that Brody's character called him bisexual. not sure I see your point
Maybe I misunderstood but there's definitely some sexual tension between him and Zero. Think there's also something implied about him taking multiple lobby boys under his wing.
i tried to do my own list because it's preposterous that life aquatic would be in the last group but i ended up in a similar place. that movie is really good, though. the only movie of his that i don't like is darjeeling. haven't seen fantastic mr fox or isle of dogs though.
both are worth watching, but I think Mr. Fox is absolutely amazing, while Isle of Dogs is funny / adorable, but maybe not as memorable
I think you need to rewatch it. Gustave is pretty much confessing his love of Zero when he escape from prison right before Zero says "we're brothers" and his tone changes quickly. Sorry you missed that, you should pay more attention.
ya, I think you are completely making something up. in fact, Zero is worried that Gustave is going to go after Agatha.
I watched and it rocked. Those were some loud gunshots during the shootout scene I told you I wasn’t going back
Watched tombstone and god damn there are so many good one liners. “skin that smoke wagon boy” immediately followed up with: “jerk your pistol and go to work” lmaooo
I too have started Heat. But I'm on shitty internet and it's not doing too hot on Netflix. Lots of buffering. Val Kilmner was so good
That whole scene is amazing. Tombstone may not be my favorite Western, but probably my favorite dialogue in a Western. “Your friends might get me in a rush, but not before I turn your head into a canoe.” Stephen Lang absolutely kills it as Ike.
