I’ve only seen LA Confidential once. It’s definitely on my list of great movies I need to watch again.
LA Confidential is excellent as a stand alone film and absolutely doesn't need a sequel, but lol @ an exec of the company that gave us 'red notice' falling asleep during that pitch. should have mentioned that there would be tons of fuckwitted banter between pearce and boseman i guess
Just watched The Godfather in its entirety for the first time Very good movie, the ratings didn't lie.
Hopefully you have Godfather 2 ready to go soon because it’s best just to think of them both as a 6.5 hour super epic.
I went ahead and watched it. It held up better than expected. I came away feeling like Ray Griffey was the one who got the rawest of deals, and was made a villain for almost no reason at all.
I also went to see Bottoms last night. That was....something else. Had some funny parts but overall idk if I really loved it. Marshawn Lynch was pretty great in his role
You JUST NOW rewatched the Fugitive? It’s crazy how Andrew Davis’s whole career is mediocre and then one masterpiece
nah I had seen it as a kid but just rewatched for the first time since then. remembered nothing except the jumping from the tunnel scene
More on my old movies I've rewatched recently.... Maybe goes in the "Last 7 Movies You've Watched" thread, but I recently viewed Field of Dreams and Hook. I'm definitely in a sports movie and/or feel good movie binge. Edit: Not really a classic or old, but I also watched Southpaw (loved it) this past weekend as it came up in my "sports" search. Also, I finally got around to watching the 2020 Rush Propst Two a Days knockoff bc of the search.
Haven't seen it. Will add it to the list. Isn't it pretty dark? Sidenote: Half the movies that are sports related are church movies. Maybe I shouldn't, but I find that pretty annoying. I toughed out the George Foreman one, but I don't know if I can tough it out for The Hill which is the only fictional movie that comes up in the search on AppleTV.
Wife wanted a mindless comedy so we watched Vacation Friends 2 last night. It was indeed a mindless comedy. Not good, outside of Cena being delightful.
Saw A Haunting in Venice last night. It’s not the most mysterious whodunit and doesn’t totally stick the landing, but I very much enjoyed the journey nonetheless. Branagh did some really interesting visually with it. Tina Fey was good but she just has a problem where she’s not a character — I see her as Tina Fey in a fedora.
I have Regal unlimited, had a half day, and also had already seen Dumb Money (which is pretty good by the way). Yet, that’s still not a great excuse, ha ;) After the first 5 to 10 minutes I checked the rotten tomatoes score and it was a very well deserved 16%
The departed? I don't think that is even in the top 5. I'd take Five Easy Pieces, The Shining, A Few Good Men, Chinatown, Batman, About Schmidt, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest all over the Departed though he is great in it. He is pretty good at the whole acting thing
I'd put Departed above Batman and About Schmidt, maybe A Few Good Men But yea The Departed is def not his best I was excited. But still great
As Good As It Gets is about as good as it gets for both him and Greg Kinnear. Kind of an offbeat romance in the same vein as The Apartment where they wouldn't work near as well as they did if they didn't have elite-tier actors that knew when and how to milk everything out of their moments.
