On the topic of best opening scenes in comic book history, the opening scene in X2 when the blue guy almost decides to assassinate the US president is one of the coolest fucking openers in all of movie history.
anyone have any movie pods they like? used to Lights Camera Barstool but as soon as trillballins left it felt like the right time to fully cut the ties with barstool. Never really been able to get into The Big Picture or any of the ringerverse shit
I’m in the same boat so I would be interested if there are any other pods people listen to. I’ve found that the big pic is the most consistent two pod a week show that is relatively comprehensive, but I get not liking that show (especially if you don’t like fenessey). I think people enjoy unspooled as well, but I can’t stand scheer so I’ve only listened a few times.
Not quite the failure Vietnam was but also the movie doesn’t look like it’s a period piece (and that could just be because the cinematography actually looks good).
On The Count of Three is a great little 90 min flick if you want to laugh and possibly shed a few tears. Carmichael has a future making movies if he wants to
A few months ago they said it would be released in English and whatever the Native American language was they were speaking. I thought they meant the whole movie would be in that native tongue. I was looking forward to that, not just a few sentences.
https://www.gq.com/story/wes-studi-tommy-orange-profile I remember reading this Wes Studi interview, or it might have been from the accompany video interview, where Wes Studi says that he spoke a Native American language in a film early in his career. And members of the given tribe who could speak the language he was portraying would approach him and break his balls for how shit he was at it, but they were just very grateful that he gave it the attempt. I really doubt you could do a movie the scale of Prey with all native Comanche actors doing the scenes twice. Anyway, Prey is very good.
There’s a doc out called The Kids which is about the cast of Kids. Shows them before Larry Clark got there and also how some of them handled it after.
I really liked Prey, especially liked the fact that Spoiler Predator’s weapons were less evolved as well and the “that’s not a net, THIS is a net!” scene
Adaptation is a great movie and a perfect example of what Nic Cage can do when the part calls for it/he really wants it, but the MVP of the whole thing is Susan Orleans. She wrote a non-fiction book about a guy obsessed with rare orchids, Charlie Kaufmann wrote the strangest adaption of the book possible, and she was cool with it. Just wild stuff.
