thanks, I guess the stuff about him working into training have only progressed further, to where he is picking up minutes. I guess since Willy is 39 and Buffon is 42, that puts it more into perspective. But yeah, that must mean Kepa is finished.
You could spend the rest of the day typing out all the cynical shit guys do every match that don't warrant cards or even retroactive punishment. Also in context of the time in the game, which isn't clear but it sounds like its late in the game. In US football that would be akin to an offensive player sliding short of the goal line at the end of the game. Instead of giving them the first down you stop the clock and pull them back 15 yards.
I don't know the specifics of that exact moment, but if he scored during a break of play (though it didn't seem obvious in that short video clip) the sporting thing to do would be for his team to permit a goal immediately from the restart or even score an own goal themselves. To repeat, if everyone but that player understood it to be a stoppage and the player was committing an egregious act by going to goal and scoring... then the restitution act seems simple, at least to me.
Although the hotdogging could be what is objectionable. For me, not worth a yellow, unless I'm missing some other detail.
goal was scored during the normal run of play, cb and gk just absolutely lost their minds during the play
punk move, of course, and I won't root for that player, but does it rise to the level of a yellow? I guess that would require semantic review of "unsporting behavior" from the rule book.
violent/dangerous/cynical (eg stopping a fast break with an intentional foul) play or verbally abusing someone on the pitch, sure. i don’t really see that play alligning in this particular group i would put this sort of play more in the realm of someone purposefully toying with a defender and trying to make the defender look stupid in a 1v1 or taking the ball to the corner flag for time wasting purposes imo
The ruling on that play could go either way. Obv that ref gave the card.If I was the ref, I would warn him that any other unsporting act, big or small, would get a yellow. We both agree it was a bad act by the player, but our threshold for the card is just different.
guy was obviously being a dick on purpose, it caused a flair-up and the ref produced the cards to both teams to calm it down. if he didn't and there was a big fight later you'd probably complain the ref "lost control"
They’re in stoppage time. The goalie can stand over a live ball until the other teams comes for it. You can kick the ball to the corner flag and stand there till the other team comes. Why can’t he stop on the goal line and wait for the other team to come? Smart play. No card.
I can't see how deep into stoppage time they were but ref should have asserted dominance and blown the final whistle as he was lollygagging at the goal line.
When you take the ball to the corner, there is still someone preventing you from scoring a goal. Just compare what the result of a regular foul in each of those circumstances would be.
very on-brand for this thread to post a video of showboating in stoppage time and getting worked up that the showboater got a meaningless yellow
So timewasting in goal scoring chances is a no go, but standing at the flag in the corner is ok? I really don't see why game situation makes one a yellow card
