Is there an example of this you're thinking of where it would be an issue? (The rule wouldn't include another player making contact with a ball out of play. Specifically referring to balls bent out of play and coming back onto the field without being touched)
No, I'm talking about a defender sticking a leg over to keep a ball out of the net. If out isn't out until the ball hits the ground then a player making contact shouldn't matter either as long as the player is inbounds when the contact is made. I think the rule would be hard to justify the way you want it.
